Q55: 62. "The Feast at Simon's House" Show the Desire of Ages is inspired.. (1) The Holy Spirit as a 'He'? Mary knew not the full significance of her deed of love. She could not answer her accusers. She couldnot explain why she had chosen that occasion for anointing Jesus. The Holy Spirit had planned for her,and she had obeyed His promptings. Inspiration stoops to give no reason. An unseen presence, it speaksto mind and soul, and moves the heart to action. It is its own justification. (Desire of Ages, p559) This SOP passage suggests the Holy Spirit as a "He" ? Yet in the same passage we have repeated three times the reference "it". This is confusing for those who believe the Holy Spirit as a "He", and equally difficult for those who see the Holy Spirit as a "She". If you look at this passage carefully, the term love is a collective term, suggesting "elohiym's love", and thus the unseen presence is "Elohiym" and thus Mary obeys His promptings. Hope this makes sense. The Holy Spirit is carrying this power to Mary and planting the prompting in her mind, the Holy Spirit speaks to her mind. For more see (2) Do we support Jesus? Christ values acts of heartfelt courtesy. When anyone did Him a favor, with heavenly politeness Heblessed the actor. He did not refuse the simplest flower plucked by the hand of a child, and offered toHim in love. He accepted the offerings of children, and blessed the givers, inscribing their names in thebook of life. In the Scriptures, Mary's anointing of Jesus is mentioned as distinguishing her from theother Marys. Acts of love and reverence for Jesus are an evidence of faith in Him as the Son of God.And the Holy Spirit mentions, as evidences of woman's loyalty to Christ: "If she have washed thesaints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work." 1 Tim.5:10. Ex 17:12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady(emuwnah) until the going down of the sun. (KJV) Ex 17:12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were supported(emuwnah) until the going down of the sun. (Ancient Hebrew) Here is the first use of "emuwnah" often translated as "Faith" but for every context really means "Suppport" So the SOP says this about believers:- Acts of love and reverence for Jesus are an evidence of "support" in Him as the Son of God. If you claim to love J esus but fail to demonstrate fruits of that love, you are really make a false claim...for your works do not support Jesus and His powers of love. If Jesus' love reaches our mind to love us, we in relationship with Him will do acts of love back. That's how a completed love circuit works. If Jesus shows us maleness-love, we will respond with femaleness-love. The love provided must be love received. The love provided is physical and with works, the love received is also physical and with works. But our femaleness-love works do NOT earn us salvation...we cannot own relationship, we cannot lift up self as earning relationship.... Relationship is not owned by anybody...Love is the response of giving and receiving.... Jesus' love and a Believer's love, must be given and received. A tomato plant produces tomatoes because it is a tomato plant in relationship with Divine Energy, that empowers living in the Tomato Plant.Notice the tomatoes relationship with the Divine Energy is perfect because the Fruit is Complete, able to reproduce the life germinating principle if replanted in another brand new world. The tomato growing in it's condemned former world, is NOT removed of disease, chaos, or disorder... Thus for physical perfection totally complete, the tomatoes seeds inside the tomato fruit would have to be taken to a new world, where new orders of perfection exists. It is the relationship with the "Divine Energy" that is completely perfect, and in a brand new order of a perfect world, the seeds from the former condemned world would grow correctly in this new world of perfection. The works of love the tomato plant makes is evidence the tomato is alive and in relationship to the "Divine Energy". The works of love the believer makes is evidence the believer is loved by the "Divine Energy of GOD" and that the relationship is connected. In such simple terms the SOP makes the statement of salvation so easy to understand. If you experience the love of Jesus, you will do works of His love, because love is both giving and receiving. Our Saviour is highly relational. Shalom (3) Do we love Jesus? Jesus knows the circumstances of every soul. You may say, I am sinful, very sinful. You may be; butthe worse you are, the more you need Jesus. He turns no weeping, contrite one away. Do we love Jesus? The deeper your missing was in your life, the deeper your loving becomes in Jesus. Lu 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. Our loving for Jesus is proportional to our past sinful living. The thing holding you back is "pride". Pride opposes relationship, and refuses relationship. Pride wants to do things alone...which is technically impossible to do for our very living is achieved by a relationship to the "Divine Energy",but we assume ownership of our "Energy" inside us, and thus pride refuses relationship. We want to be a "Master" of our own life. There is a Hebrew word for "master", a concept where people do as they please. For more see (4) How to be saved by Jesus? Here we shall go through the New Testament examples of how to be saved by Jesus, and show the reader such NT verses are really repeating the OT process of salvation by Jesus. Let's look at the claim "How to be saved by Jesus using verses from the New Testament". Almost every Internet website uses only NT verses to justify their claims: "How to be saved by Jesus" ? Should we NT verses to do this ? No The New Testament Holy Writings are the latter rains or latter teachings of Jesus. They add to His former teachings, or former rains, which is the Old Testament. Ho 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. .... Who is the LORD (YHWH) here ? Jesus is. For more see .. Now let's look at the NT Holy Writings that show us "How to be saved by Jesus". You will notice the English word "believe" is the Greek word "pisteuo" , which is similar to the Greek word "pistis" which means in English "faith".So if both of these words are similar to faith, why does the translator translate "pisteuo" as "Believe" ? This is a poor meaning of this word. But we have not even considered the Greek scolls were translated from Hebrew scrolls. So the NT was originally written in Hebrew, not Greek. The equivalent word for "pisteuo" is the Hebrew word "aman". Here are some verses:- Here is a related word to "aman" which is "amanah" The best English meaning for "aman" and "amanah" is the idea to "support" someone or something. Now let's translate all these verses to make sure they all agree and make sense:- Does the reader get the idea? We have at last the true and correct meaning of this word...It is not an intellectual decision to follow Jesus, and you will be saved. It's got nothing to do with faith either, whatever manner you wish to define that word.Faith is a nebulus term anyway, but in Hebrew, the concept of "support" is something you do. Now let's just visit a few NT verses uses of this true meaning we have found here. (Context 1) Mt 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great support, no, not in Israel. In this context, is the general talking about his solider having faith in him, whatever that term means, or is his soldiers supporting the general by obeying what he says? The meaning of this word is about "support". (Context 2)Mt 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little support? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! Joh 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. In this context, the men deal with mother nature in their own "baal master powers of self", they do not ask anything in Jesus Name, claiming his powers over nature, and thus by praying for such powers, supporting Jesus words of power which would flow through them.We could say in English there is some "belief" here as well as "support". The disciple did not know Jesus could control mother nature as well. (Context 3)Mt 9:27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. Isa 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped In this context, the two blind men have known of a Holy Writing promise (Isa 35:5) about the Messiah opening the eyes of the blind, and are willing to support Jesus, who asks them for their support of His power which will soon flow through them. (Context 4)Ga 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by supporting Jesus Christ, even we have supported Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the support of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. In this context, Paul is speaking of two ways we can support GOD, For more See the SOP comments on faith Here is a summary of the SOP showing "faith" means "support":- (1) How to exercise faith should be made very plain. To every promise of God there are conditions. If we are willing to do His will, all His strength is ours. Whatever gift He promises, is in the promise itself. "The seed is the word of God." Luke 8:11. (2) In order to strengthen faith, we must often bring it in contact with the word. (3)In the study of the Bible the student should be led to see the power of God's word. In the creation, "He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast." He "calleth those things which be not as though they were" (Psalm 33:9; Romans 4:17); for when He calls them, they are. (4) To the allurements of temptation (Joseph's) answer was steadfast: "How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" Genesis 39:9. Such a shield, faith, if cherished, will bring to every soul. (5)...Let him fix in his memory the promise, .. (6) .. Let him read that wonderful story.. (7) In the faith of this promise Paul assured his companions, "There shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you." (8) (Jesus words) now wherever there are hearts of faith to be channels of His power. (9) In the prayer of faith there is a divine science; (10) My people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do, them (11) They must give themselves time to think, to pray, to wait upon God (12) sit down in companionship with Him Finally examples where Jesus Himself demonstrates "support" (the true meaning f or faith and believe) Jesus supported His Father's power flowing through Him, by supporting His Father's words in the Holy Writings. Now we are saved by Jesus, who supports us, if we daily use Jesus word's to support Him. Shalom The next chapter of Desire of Ages..we look at "Thy King Cometh" |
