Chapter 14 : A summary of Steps To Christ

Where in Scripture found in chronological order, are all the salvational steps to Jesus?

A famous book called "Steps to Christ" lists such steps in order as"-

  • (1) God's love for man
  • (2) The sinners need of Christ
  • (3) Repentance
  • (4) Confession
  • (5) Consecration
  • (6) Faith and Acceptance
  • (7) Test of Discipleship
  • (8) Growing up into Christ

When I read this book at age 17 or so, I asked God to show me a single Scripture passage where these same steps are listed in the same chronological order as in the Book "Steps to Christ". Wouldn't that be a wonderful discovery, yet when I ask people or show them, they seem disinterested in this most wonderful golden gem in Scripture. Such a passage is found in the Scroll of Jesus. Most people do not know there are two books in the OT that are named Jesus or Yashua.

Joshua is the book of Jesus showing us how a Church for God is saved.

Hosea is the book of Jesus showing us how an Individual for God is saved.

One the left is the Steps to Christ written by the hand of Ellen White as Jesus told her for the langauge of English. On the right is the Steps to Jesus written by Hosea as Yeshua told him to write in the language of Hebrew.

The Author will prove each Summary Step to the Reader:-

These are Ellen White chapter titles

These are verses from Jesus chapter 14 verses 1 to 2.

    Chapter 1 : God's Love For Man

    Chapter 1 : O Sinner..

Ellen 1: Jesus said, “Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again.” John 10:17. That is, “My Father has so loved you that He even loves Me more for giving My life to redeem you. In becoming your Substitute and Surety, by surrendering My life, by taking your liabilities, your transgressions, I am endeared to My Father; for by My sacrifice, God can be just, and yet the Justifier of him who believeth in Jesus.”

Through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Christ the sons of Adam may become the sons of God. By assuming human nature, Christ elevates humanity.

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner.

    Chapter 2 : Sinner's Need of Christ

Chapter 2 : Return to Lord your GOD

Ellen:p 19, “Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.” “The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Job 14:4; Romans 8:7. Education, culture, the exercise of the will, human effort, all have their proper sphere, but here they are powerless. They may produce an outward correctness of behavior, but they cannot change the heart; they cannot purify the springs of life. There must be a power working from within, a new life from above, before men can be changed from sin to holiness. That power is Christ.

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus.

    Chapter 3 : Repentance

Chapter 3 : Thou fallen by your guilt..

Ellen p 23: "How shall a man be just with God? How shall the sinner be made righteous? It is only through Christ that we can be brought into harmony with God, with holiness; but how are we to come to Christ? Many are asking the same question as did the multitude on the Day of Pentecos t, when, convicted of sin, they cried out, “What shall we do?” The first word of Peter’s answer was, “Repent.” Acts 2:37, 38. At another time, shortly after, he said, “Repent, ... and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19.

Ellen p 27: An influence of which they are unconscious works upon the soul, and the conscience is quickened, and the outward life is amended. And as Christ draws them to look upon His cross, to behold Him whom their sins have pierced, the commandment comes home to the conscience. The wickedness of their life, the deep-seated sin of the soul, is revealed to them. They begin to comprehend something of the righteousness of Christ, and exclaim, “What is sin, that it should require such a sacrifice for the redemption of its victim?

    The sinner may resist this love, may ref use to be drawn to Christ; but if he does not resist he will be drawn to Jesus;

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus. Know your have fallen by your guilt.

    Chapter 4 : Confession

Chapter 4 : take with you words..

Ellen p. 39: "Those who have not humbled their souls before God in acknowledging their guilt, have not yet fulfilled the first condition of acceptance. If we have not experienced that repentance which is not to be repented of, and have not with true humiliation of soul and brokenness of spirit confessed our sins, abhorring our iniquity, we have never truly sought for the forgiveness of sin; and if we have never sought, we have never found the peace of God. The only reason why we do not have remission of sins that are past is that we are not willing to humble our hearts and comply with the conditions of the word of truth. Explicit instruction is given concerning this matter. Confession of sin, whether public or private, should be heartfelt and freely expressed. It is not to be urged from the sinner. It is not to be made in a flippant and careless way, or forced from those who have no realizing sense of the abhorrent character of sin. The confession that is the outpouring of the inmost soul finds its way to the God of infinite pity. The psalmist says, “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18.

True confession is always of a specific character, and acknowledges particular sins. They may be of such a nature as to be brought before God only; they may be wrongs that should be confessed to individuals who have suffered injury through them; or they may be of a public character, and should then be as publicly confessed. But all confession should be definite and to the point, acknowledging the very sins of which you are guilty.

Ellen p. 39: " Confession will not be acceptable to God without sincere repentance and reformation. There must be decided changes in the life; everything offensive to God must be put away. This will be the result of genuine sorrow for sin.

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus. Know your have fallen by your guilt. Take with you words.

    Chapter 5 : Consecration

Chapter 5 : Say to Jesus..

Ellen p.44: "There are those who profess to serve God, while they rely upon their own efforts to obey His law, to form a right character, and secure salvation. Their hearts are not moved by any deep sense of the love of Christ, but they seek to perform the duties of the Christian life as that which God requires of them in order to gain heaven. Such religion is worth nothing.

Ellen p.44: "When Christ dwells in the heart, the soul will be so filled with His love, with the joy of communion with Him, that it will cleave to Him; and in the contemplation of Him, self will be forgotten.

Ellen p.47: "Many are inquiring, “How am I to make the surrender of myself to God?” You desire to give yourself to Him, but you are weak in moral power, in slavery to doubt, and controlled by the habits of your life of sin.

Through the right exercise of the will, an entire change may be made in your life. By yielding up your will to Christ, you ally yourself with the power that is above all principalities and powers. You will have strength from above to hold you steadfast, and thus through constant surrender to God you will be enabled to live the new life, even the life of faith.

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus. Know your have fallen by your guilt. Take with you words. Pray these words of support to Jesus.

Chapter 6 : Faith and Acceptance

Chapter 6 : Take away our guilt.

You have confessed your sins, and in heart put them away. You have resolved to give yourself to God. Now go to Him, and ask that He will wash away your sins and give you a new heart. Then believe that He does this because He has promised.

Ellen p. 50" From the simple Bible account of how Jesus healed the sick, we may learn something about how to believe in Him for the forgiveness of sins. Let us turn to the story of the paralytic at Bethesda. The poor sufferer was helpless; he had not used his limbs for thirty-eight years. Yet Jesus bade him, “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.” The sick man might have said, “Lord, if Thou wilt make me whole, I will obey Thy word.” But, no, he believed Christ’s word, believed that he was made whole, and he made the effort at once; he willed to walk, and he did walk. He acted on the word of Christ, and God gave the power. He was made whole.

Do not wait to feel that you are made whole, but say, “I believe it; it is so, not because I feel it, but because God has promised.”

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus. Know your have fallen by your guilt. Take with you words. Pray these words of support to Jesus. Take away my guilt.

Chapter 7 : Test of Discipleship

Chapter 7 : receive us graciously

Ellen p. 56" “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

A person may not be able to tell the exact time or place, or trace all the chain of circumstances in the process of conversion; but this does not prove him to be unconverted. Christ said to Nicodemus, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8. Like the wind, which is invisible, yet the effects of which are plainly seen and felt, is the Spirit of God in its work upon the human heart. That regenerating power, which no human eye can see, begets a new life in the soul; it creates a new being in the image of God. While the work of the Spirit is silent and imperceptible, its effects are manifest. If the heart has been renewed by the Spirit of God, the life will bear witness to the fact.

Ellen p. 60" There are two errors against which the children of God—particularly those who have just come to trust in His grace—especially need to guard. The first, already dwelt upon, is that of looking to their own works, trusting to anything they can do, to bring themselves in to harmony with God.

The opposite and no less dangerous error is that belief in Christ releases men from keeping the law of God; that since by faith alone we become partakers of the grace of Christ, our works have nothing to do with our redemption.

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus. Know your have fallen by your guilt. Take with you words. Pray these words of support to Jesus. Take away my guilt. Receive me graciously.

Chapter 8 : Growing up into Christ

Chapter 8 : we render fruits on our lips.

Ellen p. 69" Jesus teaches the same thing when He says, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.... Without Me ye can [69] do nothing.” John 15:4, 5.

Ellen p. 70" You gave yourself to God, to be His wholly, to serve and obey Him, and you took Christ as your Saviour. You could not yourself atone for your sins or change your heart; but having given yourself to God, you believe that He for Christ’s sake did all this for you. By faith you became Christ’s, and by faith you are to grow up in Him— by giving and taking. You are to give all,—your heart, your will, your service,—give yourself to Him to obey all His requirements; and you must take all,—C hrist, the fullness of all blessing, to abide in your heart, to be your strength, your righteousness, your everlasting helper,— to give you power to obey.

Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work. Let your prayer be, “Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service. Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee.” This is a daily matter. Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day. Surrender all your plans to Him, to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate. Thus day by day you may be giving your life into the hands of God, and thus your life will be molded more and more after the life of Christ.

Respond to such love Jesus provides for us, O Sinner. Return to Jesus. Know your have fallen by your guilt. Take with you words. Pray these words of support to Jesus. Take away my guilt. Receive me graciously. So we are filled with your fruit on our lips.

Now let's summarize these chapters of doing, so little a child understands:-

    Scripture Science of Salvation

  • Step 1: The sinners need
  • Step 2: The Home principle
  • Step 3: The Power principle
  • Step 4: The Fruit principle

"Sow specific seeds spiritually seeking solutions"

  • These salvational steps also parallel LOVE as a Provider, found in the Father's or our Provider's Ten Commandments:-

    (1) Ex 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Hosea 13:4) no saviour beside me.

This first direction, directs us to the Provider of Love, Our Saviour...

    (2) Ex 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

    5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the childr en unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

This direction concerns what we have lost, our covering of the Holy Spirit has gone, with it all the protection over our DNA regarding the Lord's Design that covers us. This direction deals with our propensities of self, and how to deal with it. That's why we support the Bible Seed Store for Words-personified from Jesus, who writes in His teachings "prayer promises of power" to restore the lost covering over us.

    For more see:

    (1) Lost Covering theme

    (2) Broken genes or epi-genetics or idols

    (3) Epi-genetics and propensities

    (4) Epi-genetic weeds in us

    (3) Ex 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

This direction concerns how we pray for power. The fuzzy translation is right off track.

    For more see:-

    (1) Study of empty-storm or vanity

    (2) Empty storm prayers

    (3) Empty storm attitude

    (4) Empty-storm prayers

    (4) Ex 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

This direction concerns how we express the fruits flowing in us. The word "work" here refers to "God's gifted work to you" , not "secular work".

Ge 5:29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work (ma`aseh) "secular work" and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

Here is the first use of "Secular work". Many churches make the mistake from ceasing on Ceasing Day from doing work, thinking Sabbath is about doing no secular work. But the ceasing of God's gifted work, is what Sabbath is for. This implies during the week we did God's gifted work, saving others by sharing our fruits of Jesus with them, and on Sabbath we rejoice with Jesus from all this sharing.

The direction is written here in hard love, we need to find the positive message behind Ceasing Day. It is about sharing your fruits of Jesus power. Ceasing Day is a coming together of a Family of Redeemed people to meet our Redeemer.

So putting these directions or steps of salvational love together we have:-

    Your NeedI am your Saviour
    Seed StoreI am your words
    Power PromiseI am a storm
    Fruit flowsShare me with others

And now for a child like example how these four steps to Jesus work in your life:

    Examples of Prayer Power Promises

Our Father in heaven, call on me, early in the morning, we support Jesus. Amen

The need you have is met with Jesus waking you early in the morning at a time best for you. Support such awaking will happen as it.. is promised. When you do rise for worship of Jesus, thank Him for His gift of power in you. Share this, as a testimony with others.

    Or for a mature follower:

Our Father in heaven, call on me at 3:00 am, lay me down in your wholeness, we support Jesus in His Name. Amen..... .

The need you have is met with Jesus waking you at a very specific time. Support such awaking will happen exactly as you have prayed. When you do rise for worship of Jesus, thank Him for His gift of power in you. Share this, as a testimony with others.

See a prayer written by Author aged 16.

Notice a beginner may not know specifically how to support Jesus and His words, but any babe can still have communion with GOD and be accepted in the light you know.

    Love that provides and responds

    Ten directions of love

Now let's go through the ten attitudes of love, arranging the words into action words:-

    Love PROVIDED by GOD
GOD's Gifts.. Positive attitude Negative attitude Your Work..
I AM your SAVIOUR Be humble Not proud Will
I AM your COVERING Be mournful Not smug Study
I AM your POWER Be meek Not presumptous Pray
I AM your FRUIT Be sharing Not selfish Sabbath
    Love RESPONDED by me
RESPECT FAMILY Be merciful Not cruel visit
RESPECT LIFE Be pure No destroy refresh
RESPECT Relationships Be peacemaker Not relationship breaker network
RESPECT buildings Be builder Not persecuter or stealer faithful
RESPECT TRUTH Edify others Not slander or mock witness
DESIRE ME Be salty, Be a light No apathy active hands

Does the reader get a little how love works, how LOVE is provided to you by the heavenly Providers your heavenly Father via His Son Jesus, and responded to by you, empowered in you via the Holy Spirit, our heavenly Responder.

Thus the science of salvation is a specific communion principle using love.

So concludes our study of the science of salvation.
