Jesus functioned as an angel in the OT, Jesus is Michael the angelic Being in the OT, Jesus the new ruler and prince of earth, epi-genetics and propensities, how Satan influences Man's nature

Q6: Ch:12.The Temptation

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) Jesus comes to regain earth as ruler..

By fasting and prayer He was to brace Himself for the bloodstained path He must travel. After tempting man to sin, Satan claimed the earth as his, and styled himselfthe prince of this world. Having conformed to his own nature the father and mother of our race, hethought to establish here his empire. He declared that men had chosen him as their sovereignAs the Son of man, Christ would stand loyal to God. Thus it would be shown that Satan had not gainedcomplete control of the human race, and that his claim to the world was false.

The Spirit of Prophecy says a remarkable genetic statement here, how did Satan conform his nature to Adam and Eve's nature inside their DNA programming?

Ps 7:14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity "aven" (propensities), and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth "yalad" (born) falsehood.

This is the only verse in our Bibles that speak about this statement confirming that Ellen White's statement in Desire of Ages is correct. This verse uses many Hebrew words that speak of conception, genetic seeds leading to propensities, and born, the birthing process. How many of us, know that our Bibles speak of genetic propensities, and epi-genetic programming that allows even our fallen nature to change as our wills choose, to follow GOD or not follow GOD? If your interested in this remarkabe proof SOP is inspired, see the study of propensites and the epi-genetics that causes such propensities during our birth.

Study of SOP and genetic propensities.

(1) How many of us know, that Jesus functioned as an angel for His Father in heaven? The messenger for Father YHWH, is both a "messenger" as "malak" in Hebrew says, but also translated as "Angel" in English.

Both Jesus and Satan functioned as "seraph" with angelic powers... See a fascinating study how these two Beings came to hate each other... and why both figures are placed upon the pole with a copper serpent symbol in Numbers 21:8

Jesus "functioned as an Angel" in the OT

(2) Jesus came to challenge Satan, in Person, as the prince of this world...and since the Prince of earth was orginally Adam, Jesus had to come as a "Second Adam" to regain the princeship right as ruler over the earth.

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

So is there an OT reference to a heavenly angelic like Being who is a "prince" and becomes a "son of Man" to regain a kingdom lost to Satan?

Da 10:21 But I (Gabriel, the head angel replacing Lucifer) will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture "kathab" (writings) of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince "sar" (prince).

  • Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil...
  • Da 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
  • 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom,...

Notice this angelic Being is termed "Michael" by Gabriel, which means in Hebrew "who is like GOD". There is a Hebrew idiom linking the Son of Man with angelic functions, this idiom is "came with clouds of heaven", which all languages have special sayings; and in Hebrew means "coming with angels".

    See Mt 25:31, Joh 1:51, Heb 1:13, Eze 10:3-4, Jer 4:13, Ex 19:9, Job 22:14, Isa 14:14, Isa 19:1, Isa 44:22, Isa 60:8.

So this "angelic Being known as Michael, and known as the Son of Man", is also "the Prince" that comes to earth to regain earth as a lost kingdom for Himself.

Now some with theories of faith, say this is just a vision, concerning a human Jesus later on during Mary's time in the womb, but no. When the Father begins "judgement" the courts "sit down", and when judgement ends, the courts "stand up". This heavenly Hebrew practice continues even in our modern court rooms. So the Ancient of Days, and the Son of Man, sit down for judgement. Than many verses later....

Da 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince "sar" which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Now the judgement process begins in Daniel 7 "sitting down" and in Daniel 12 "standing up" spans two thousand years or more, so cannot refer to a human sinless Christ from Mary's womb, which does not fit within the time frame of Daniel 7 judgement beginning or ending. But fits perfectly if Jesus pre-existed from eternity, and sits down with the Father before the dark ages, and stands up during the end of time, (just a little way future).

We are living near the end of Jesus and the Father's judgement on earth, and soon Jesus will "stand up" to collect His own redeemed, snatched from the fires of this old wicked world, soon to pass away.

Da 10:21 But I (Gabriel, the head angel replacing Lucifer) will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture "kathab" (writings) of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince "sar" (prince).

What are these "writings of truth" which Gabriel uses to teach Daniel things in this vision? The "writings of truth" cannot be the OT writings, because Gabriel reads things that happen in the future, and such things are written down in the "writings of truth" already... These "writings of truth" must be a written scroll of truth in heaven, so what language are these "writings of truth" written in, that Gabriel speaks about to Daniel?

The SOP already tells us that the angel sent in Rev. 1:1 is also Gabriel, but the verse does not directly indentify this.

Re 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book "scroll" written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

Here John sees in vision these "writings of truth on a scroll written on the backside of the scroll, in the right hand. Which language writes words with the right hand ? These words are significant to Jews... not Greeks and not English writers... Greeks and English writers use the right hand but write left to right, writing over the older letter with a newer letter as they write.

Hebrew writes with the right hand wit h the first letter to the right, and next letter is placed to the left, so the older letter is always to the right. Thus they write right to left, top to down. Greek and English writers write left to right, top to down, and do not hold the letters themselves as special, even on paper or a scroll. But the Hebrews do, every letter is special or holy, and written to the right, allowing time for the ink to dry before the next letter is written.

So what is the significance of this "writings of truth" ? That the language used to write them is in Hebrew, and language GOD gave to Adam was Hebrew, and today Hebrew has become the Mother of Languages...

Show Ancient Hebrew is similar to modern English.

How Ancient Hebrew influenced all languages.

    (2) How the renewed convenant is better with more powers..

Ever since Adam's sin, thehuman race had been cut off from direct communion with God; the intercourse between heaven andearth had been through Christ; but now that Jesus had come "in the likeness of sinful flesh" (Rom. 8:3),the Father Himself spoke. He had before communicated with humanity through Christ; now He communicated with humanity in Christ.

How amazing that SOP explains the difference to Jesus OT covenant days and Jesus NT covenant days.

    (3) Jesus took fallen human nature with it's degenerate infirmities..

Forfour thousand years the race had been decreasing in physical strength, in mental power, and in moralworth; and Christ took upon Him the infirmities of degenerate humanity. Only thus could He rescueman from the lowest depths of his degradation. He took the nature of man, with the possibility ofyielding to temptation. We have nothing to bear which He has not endured.

Ga 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

  • Ga 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

What is the difference between the Father's teachings of love (the ten commandments) and Jesus teachings of love (the law of Moses)?Jesus teachings spoken to Moses, who was a figure of Jesus, was a witness for His Father's love. Thus the second teachings are a witness to the first teachings. The Father's teachings requires living things to live according to the principles of love in 100% obedience, these teachings are as fundamental as natural laws that describe motion, the fundamental laws of love also define the ongoing living of relationship necessary for being always with GOD. A single missing causes eternal separation from GOD.

The second teachings are exactly the same as the first, except they come with grace, because a Divine Being comes in Person to show those missing how to do all love principles and live by them. This is absolutely necessary because a sinner cannot inherit a relationship forever near the Father, unless He is living forever without missing. Sure Jesus teachings gives us another chance to live in Him, and Jesus empowers us to live as Jesus lived, but we must eventually be able to live completely as Jesus did, enjoying the love principles of the Father without missing any of these principles. What a compassionate Saviour we serve, and how lovely are His ceremonial teachings of salvation, that tutor us to Jesus.

This does not mean we become righteous o n our own power, what our Bibles call in Hebrew "Baal" or in English a Master's religion, meaning empowering ourselves with humanism or legalism. No. We become like Christ by being totally obedient to Christ, 100 % in a relationship with Him. This is no different to the same requirement as the Father's relationship demands with His love, except with Christ such a relationship demand also comes with grace. The relationship demand always exists forever, after all even the "breath of life" is an eternal ongoing relationship demand as well. In fact our love must always come from a relationship, thus we are always ever for eternity loving our Saviour in a 100% relationship committment.

There is a special time for special humans who live for a long time on earth in Jesus, with a 100% relationship without missing of any kind to the relationship of Jesus. These are the 144,000 people during Jacob's trouble prior to the coming of Jesus. But every human who has ever been saved found Jesus in their will with a 100% committment to His love, but these special people continue in His loving relationship longer than any others without missing to prove to Satan and the wicked world that loving Jesus (without missing) is possible for eternity.

Some claim that the Jesus teachings point us to Jesus, and once we have Jesus, we do not to need His teachings anymore? Ga 3:24-25 Is this true? So we live in Jesus without feeding on His teachings in His word anymore...afterall we have Jesus in person? What a silly claim...We need Jesus teachings daily, even the teachings we no longer do in the OT regarding sacrifice for sins, we still need to regard them lest we see Jesus sacrifice as "cheap grace"...yes every teaching of Jesus has value for us Christians today. In fact why the 144,000 are special people seeking Jesus daily without missing, is because they value the teaching of sacrifice and offerings for sins so much, they catch the deep value of such teachings so much, they no longer need such teaching because such people do no missing. This is indeed proof we need the ceremonial teachings more to deepen our relationship to Jesus, to value what He did for us...not that we should sacrifice animals again ... no... no... not legalism...but that we should truly value what sacrifice really meant for Jesus, and what committment such sacrifice requires of us...

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Notice Paul does not remove the value of sacrifice teachings, he changes such teachings to "living sacrifices", and since we are "living temples" for the Holy Spirit of GOD, we are also "living sacrifices" of praise to Jesus!!

    (4) Jesus overcame appetite....

For our sake He exercised a self-control stronger than hunger or death. overcome appetite. He hoped that under the force ofdespondency and extreme hunger, Christ would lose faith in His Father, and work a miracle in His ownbehalf. Had He done this, the plan of salvation would have been broken.

The will is linked physically via a nerve to the stomach, so that eating can become a sin, because such appetite spoils our will to choose Jesus. Fasting and prayer strengthens the will to choose, indulging in appetite weakens the will to choose. Christianity is NOT about strong will, but simply the will to choose Jesus or not.

Jesus had perfect trust in His Father by faith, and we need to develop the same faith in Jesus.

The next chapter of Desire of Ages..we look at victory, how Jesus reclaimed the kingdom of earth from Satan, and how we can reclaim our souls back from Satan..
