Q69: 76. Judas Show the Desire of Ages is inspired.. (1) How humans are deceived.. From that time he expressed doubts that confused the disciples. He introduced controversies and misleading sentiments, repeating the arguments urged by the scribes and Pharisees against the claims ofChrist. All the little and large troubles and crosses, the difficulties and the apparent hindrances to theadvancement of the gospel, Judas interpreted as evidences against its truthfulness. He would introducetexts of Scripture that had no connection with the truths Christ was presenting. These texts, separatedfrom their connection, perplexed the disciples, and increased the discouragement that was constantlypressing upon them. Yet all this was done by Judas in such a way as to make it appear that he wasconscientious. And while the disciples were searching for evidence to confirm the words of the GreatTeacher, Judas would lead them almost imperceptibly on another track. Thus in a very religious, andapparently wise, way he was presenting matters in a different light from that in which Jesus had giventhem, and attaching to His words a meaning that He had not conveyed. Notice the true and false witness of Jesus' teachings: Listed below are the tactics used to mislead people seeking truth:- Let's give the reader one example how truth is swallowed up by deception: Deceivers like big words...it makes them sound important and learned. Languages all have polysemy they say...thus words have different meanings depending upon their context. Isa 29:12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. So wee little children leave the words, the big holy words of GOD, to the learned, the wise and scholarly so they feed us the word, not us feeding off the word ourselves. That's how all religions work, we have sermons so human words are spoken feeding the little children who flock on mass to be fed by words. We dare not read the "holy words" ourselves, for we are not learned. Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: So these "holy men" introduce to the "flock on mass" in our little assemblies, the "precepts of men" and over the years these become "church traditions". Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: All churches believe one can take a verse here and a verse there to prove doctrine. Is this what this verse is saying? For example: De 14:26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, Verses like these says it's OK to drink strong drink, for whatsoever thy soul desireth: The Author hasn't got a clue why this verse is in the Bible, but it is, and one can find such misleading passages, if one wants to go looking. So what do you do with passages that are hard to understand? 2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.(KJV) Read the verses that are easy to read and understand; ignore the hard for now. Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. Notice Scripture says we are to be weaned from milk.. but our Pastors speak in another tongue, or another language, continue to take a little here and a little there, so the flock who mass with the Pastor continue as babes on milk. 1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. The purpose of Bible study is to "Grow" to increase in Jesus. Jesus will reward us according to how much we have grown in Jesus. So Bible study is not about knowledge, or learning per se, but about growing in Jesus, receiving more of His power flowing through our lives. Isa 28:4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up. We are trodden on by others, like a fad iing flower, our beauty in Jesus goes away. Do we give up when things go wrong? Isa 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: What discourages us most is our own brethren, our own Church members who are rebellious , following a different spirit, and keep adding sin unto sin. Isa 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Wee people do not want trouble upon us, we want smooth things, as we wander down into Egypt, to become smooth with the world... Isa 30:12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: For example we live with the doctors and their diagnosis of drugs to keep us alive, rather than trust the teachings how to remove our diseases of cancer, we trust in oppression and perverse methods of treating disease, rather than preventing or curing disease. I guess when Sunday Law comes upon our Church, the flock will not know what to do with our need to trust our doctors and our drugs for our health... do we ask Jesus to lay us to sleep, so we can rest in His care, while clinging to the world in the sleep of death? Joh 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Doesn't the NT teachings, or the latter rain, teach that living in Jesus causes a harder life because the people "hate love" flowing around them... Isa 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. And so the Church waits for Jesus, we wait, and while waiting fall asleep... and become lukewarm... Re 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Where and how do we buy of Jesus, this gold refined in the fire, that we can truly see. Isa 30:20 And though the Lord (Jesus-YHWH) give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: We shall hear Jesus speak to us, to turn in His teachings to the left or right... Isa 30:23 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed ... , that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures. We buy of Jesus, by sowing His words of Seed into our heart minds, ready to support His teachings so that His power grows in us. And this is processed in us by Jesus, via the Holy Spirit, our administrator of Jesus power growing in us. Isa 30:28 And his breath (ruwach) "Holy Spirit", as an overflowing stream, Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: Notice the human wisdom of John Wesley:- Quote" For-They must be taught like little children, because of their great dullness. Line-One line of the book after another, as children are taught to read. "EndQuote What clues does Scripture itself give? Isa 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: A plummet is a plumb-bob used to line up lines of rocks in building. So reading line upon line, is not a reference to reading lines of Hebrew, but lining up the Hebrew meanings of words, line upon line, until harmony comes from the study. The end result is a line of context that runs to the chief corner stone of Jesus, and all the verses of context, or lines have harmony with each other. Isa 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Jesus is speaking in His former rain about Pastors who spoke lies, but ruled over His Church. Isa 29:9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. Such Pastors who stagger about refusing to love Jesus correctly, find themselves becoming Pastors of deep sleep, and the Bible they preach about is sealed... Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Pastors and people showing fake holiness...mouse water "Christians"... Isa 29:13 .... and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: If you don't have Jesus, you only have yourself, and human powers of self...and so you follow human religions and human traditions... Isa 30:2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Shadows are records of your traveling..Shadows are made by your relationship to the light source. The "shadow of Egypt" is contrasted with the "shadow of the Almighty".. both are worthy of careful study. So these three chapters in Isaiah speak much about how to read Scripture correctly. The chapters also show us how people are easily deceived using Scripture. So study your Bible words of Jesus carefully and see how the Bible says to study the Bible.
