The Hebrew word "sabbath" means "ceasing" or "cease". � "Sabbath" Strongs 7673, 7674 The ancient Hebrew pictograph reads "Pressing at Home MARK" The pressing home means you are resting from doing some important work (MARK symbol). So "Sabbath" means to cease after doing work. See studies of Sabbath. (1) The Sabbath day was a day of resting from business employment work. Ex 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work. (2) The Sabbath day was a day to energize yourself. Ex 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. (3) The Sabbath day is a delight. Isa 58:13 � If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: May GOD bless us and make us special on Sabbath, His day !
