| Q28: What does "Medium" mean? HYPOTHESIS: What does "Medium" mean? INTRODUCTION: The nature of the Holy Spirit is a mystery. Men cannot explain it, because the Lord has not revealed it to them. Men having fanciful views may bring together passages of Scripture and put a human construction on them, but the acceptance of these views will not strengthen the church. Regarding such mysteries, which are too deep for human understanding, silence is golden. {AA 52.1} This SOP study only looks at what is revealed..People have trouble understanding an Agency or a Medium...the personality of love expressed by the Holy Spirit is revealed in careful studies. The Spirit is given as a regenerating agency, to make effectual the salvation wrought by the death of our Redeemer.. {AA 52.4} The Holy Spirit is an agency of the Father or the Son's power. This is the mystery. What is an Agency? How does it work. But the Lord will not leave you to yourselves. He follows you by His Holy Spirit. He thrusts the subject upon you.�Manuscript 10a, 1898. {CTr 348.6} The Holy Spirit is an agency of the Father or the Son's power. Whose power flow of light is entering the Medium and leaving the Medium ? Jesus light. He thrusts the subject upon you. See studies of the Medium. Let's test this hypothesis in this SOP study. METHOD: All newer references to SOP using 'Medium' are looked up and discussed. CONCLUSION: The term 'Medium' is a reference to the nature of the 'Holy Spirit', which is a mystery. DISCUSSION: This study looks are all new occurances of the term. (1) medium is a channel of communication.. It is through the medium of His Spirit that God works upon the human heart; and when men willfully reject the Spirit and declare it to be from Satan, they cut off the channel by which God can communicate with them. {CCh 81.1} Ac 8:29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. Ac 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip,.. A medium is something that allows us to hear something. Hear we see the Holy Spirit is an agency for the communication channel of members of the Godhead.Whether the Holy Spirit speaks to Philip or Jesus speaks to Philip via the Holy Spirit, is unclear...but the Holy Spirit is an agency for Jesus personally representing Jesus on earth . (2) medium is an agency for power transformation.. God�s truth is the medium by which the intellect is reached. The Holy Spirit is given to the human agent who works in cooperation with divine agencies. It transforms mind and character, enabling man to endure as seeing Him who is invisible. Perfect love can be enjoyed only through the belief of the truth and the reception of the Holy Spirit {OFC 261.2} Ex 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. The problem for those who claim only a Heavenly Father exists alone, is how does the Father touch a fallen world and let it live. The only way to achieve this is through a medium. A medium can change the power transformation flow...for example mirrors make images smaller, magnifying lens make images larger and water can refract images. Only mediums can do this because the media changes the flow of heavenly power. Since sinners change their flow of heavenly power second by second, only a co-eternal Being living in every human can achieve a daily change like this, allowing them to endure. Therefore the medium of the Holy Spirit, cannot be a passive or active force of the Father, but a caring co-eternal heavenly Being, who speaks personally to mankind through our conscience. Pr 8:22 � The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 23 I (Holy Spirit - symbol of wisdom) was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 24 When there were no depths, I (Holy Spirit - symbol of wisdom) was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I (Holy Spirit - symbol of wisdom) brought forth: 26 While as yet He (Jesus) had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 27 When He (Jesus) prepared the heavens, I (Holy Spirit - symbol of wisdom) was there: when He (Jesus) set a compass upon the face of the depth: Some say the Holy Spirit is a symbol of wisdom but the descriptions of a woman as "her" is figurature language of poetry. Exactly, over half of Scripture is poetry...but that does not make Scripture meaningless...only hidden in poetry of pictures..Some say the Father and Jesus we know clearly, but the Holy Spirit is a mystery...perhaps...so why do we publically make words if things are not clear? SOP also uses Proverbs 8:22 to state Jesus was present with His Father before the Father's works of old.This makes this "poetry figure of a woman of wisdom" refer to Jesus. How strange is SOP, but Scripture uses dual meanings too with poetry pictures. See the example in wisdom studies here. Here a heavenly Being was called forth before creation of earth, obviously before Lucifer sinned ? Why? Because one cannot see the Father or the Son or the Shadday and live.So how did the Godhead overcome the problem of missing entering the universe for the first time, with Lucifer and His angels ?By calling forth the Shadday into the Holy Spirit. The Shadday then becomes an agency or medium for the power flow of the Father or the Son.This is what we see here in these verses.... (3) medium of sanctification The Holy Spirit is the great sanctifying power. Truth is the medium of sanctification. By reading and feasting upon the Word of God, by practicing the truth at all times, we receive power to glorify God. But the ministry of the Word is of no value to the receiver unless he has that faith which works by love and purifies the soul. {20MR 361.3} Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. The correct use of words of truth, the power experiences from the Father or the Son, are channelled by the Holy Spirit, so the Holy Spirit is a symbol of wisdom. Truth are words of power from the Father or the Son, that flow through the Holy Spirit, so the Holy Spirit is a symbol of truth. David describes here the poetry literal re-creation of the second birth of humans every day by the Holy Spirit...Nicodemus asked how can a man be born physically again? And Jesus answered by the re-creative power of the Holy Spirit. Little by little, renewed daily, the re-creative powers of the Holy Spirit, make our character changed into the character of Jesus and the Father. Only a medium can do this. Salvation is not the Father's or the Son's power alone. Nor is salvation being filled with the Holy Spirit alone. No, salvation must flow from the Father through the precious Son, into and out of the medium of the Holy Spirit; into and out of sinners every day, so the believer can be changed by growing daily in the sanctifying power of GOD. All members of the Godhead are involved in this system of growing daily. All members of GOD have unique functions to display upon us. For more: See thoughts on GOD. (4) Food must enter our bodies through a medium As our physical life is sustained by food, so our spiritual life is sustained by the word of God. And every soul is to receive life from God's word for himself. As we must eat for ourselves in order to receive nourishment, so we must receive the word for ourselves. We are not to obtain it merely through the medium of another's mind. We should carefully study the Bible, asking God for the aid of the Holy Spirit, that we may understand His word. We should take one verse, and concentrate the mind on the task of ascertaining the thought which God has put in that verse for us. We should dwell upon the thought until it becomes our own, and we know "what saith the Lord." {DA 390.4 Ex 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. The food we eat must enter through the medium of bacteria and other friends of the forest in our gut, before we intake the true powers of food. If your friends of the forest are wrong, your intake of food is wrong.Thus the medium controls the quantity and quality of our food uptake. The physical food required for the second birth is also carefully controlled by all members of the Godhead, and the Word of GOD, are the word powers of the Father through His Son via the Holy Spirit that enter you for His glory. Some say the second birth is spiritual whatever that term means, not literal ? Really? Was Nicodemus wrong ? And Jesus answer wrong ? Was creation spoken by Jesus words literal ? Do we see creation around us ? So we can expect the re-creation of us to be literal as well...But our fallen flesh cannot be re-created before the fall, because that empowers us, and defines our present fleshy character...changing our bodies of flesh would change us... No the re-creation of character is what is literal, the old fallen flesh is left to die...it is our character that is literally renewed daily...and it is this we take to heaven...our bodies which encaps ulate this character will come during the resurrection at the trumpet sound of GOD we are changed, our fallen flesh is changed forever...but our character are preserved as they were...including the old ann new memories...but the old memories fade... Sadly many of us trust the mediums of other human minds to empower our faith and our experience of salvation through Scripture. Should we trust our translators of English ? Or read our Scriptures in God's Hebrew ? The SOP comes to us in Hebrew, yet is written in English...how many of us truly study the SOP carefully and prayerfully? (5) health comes via a medium of power Sin brings physical and spiritual disease and weakness. Christ has made it possible for us to free ourselves from this curse. The Lord promises, by the medium of truth, to renovate the soul. The Holy Spirit will make all who are willing to be educated able to communicate the truth with power. It will renew every organ of the body, that God's servants may work acceptably and successfully. Vitality increases under the influence of the Spirit's action. Let us, then, by this power lift ourselves into a higher, holier atmosphere, that we may do well our appointed work.--R.H., Jan. 14, 1902. {MM 12.2} Mt 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. Mt 7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Mt 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Health powers come via the medium of farmers, merchants, scientists and the lowly food itself...yet do we trust these for our health? Are the chemcials and the GMO foods really good for us?Or do we get used to managment of our disease? Rather than seek a different medium for our health? God is the source of our health, the medium by which all good things flow...enter into His knowledge and seek the powers that can teach us...including the Holy Spirit... (6) A medium enables us to see the invisible God�s truth is the medium by which the intellect is reached. The Holy Spirit is given to the human agent who works in cooperation with divine agencies. It transforms mind and character, enabling man to endure as seeing Him who is invisible. Perfect love can be enjoyed only through the belief of the truth and the reception of the Holy Spirit. . . . {OFC 261.2} Ro 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Humans becomes stewards of GOD's power that grows in us, we are agents of God's truth, and this is the quickening power of the Holy Spirit, that changes us, to see the invisible powers of GOD. (7) medium of forgiveness and pardon I marvel that professing Christians do not grasp the divine resources; that they do not see the cross more clearly as the medium of forgiveness and pardon, the means of bringing the proud, selfish heart of man into direct contact with the Holy Spirit, that the riches of Christ may be poured into the mind, and the human agent be adorned with the graces of the Spirit, that Christ may be commended to those who know Him not. {OFC 269.5} Ho 14:2 Ta ke with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: Forgiveness and pardon does not come through Jesus alone, for all the members of GOD empower salvation through Jesus... Indeed humans do not forgive alone either...you must allow a medium of forgiveness to flow...you forgive others who wrong you because Jesus forgives you, you have wronged Him...so the actions of wrong that a person does to you is no longer your feelings, but Jesus feelings...and thus you give to GOD that wrong, your not alone... In this way the medium for forgiveness is not broken. Jesus remains with you, as you forgive others, you are actually reconnecting yourself to GOD despite the people around you... Let me write a testimony example for this. One day after working carefully on something, another person come to find fault with our creation, so I lose my connection with GOD and feel angry over the criticism.Later the Holy Spirit speaks to me, saying when others say good or bad things, that is their flow, but it must not disturb your connection with us..."Get behind me Satan" is how our Lord handled this matter. Do not allow temptations of wrong doingby others to break your own connection to GOD. Easy to say, but hard to do, because our connection with GOD can be easily broken in the presence of others. We need to increase our second by second connection with Him, especially during AFFLICTION. Shalom (8) humans are mediums for heaven's power They had been obliged to hear that which they most desired not to hear: the fact of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and his power in Heaven to perform miracles through the medium of his apostles on earth. {3SP 280.1} Isa 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD.. Lu 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things. Ac 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me Humans are mediums for the power of heaven, entering us and leaving us, so that others may see God's power in us, a medium for His Power. That means to be a true medium of GOD, the power entering us and leaving us must be changed, so that others may see good things in that change. By the fruits of the Holy Spirit, do men judge the changes of God's power in us. So in summary, does SOP have a science meaning for medium, the way something allows something to be observed? Yes indeed, but today we know through science much more about mediums. A medium can change power entering and leaving them, such as reflection, refraction and magnification to name a few of the changes mediums can do.
