( 1 ) Ge 41:9 Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh , saying , I do remember my faults "chata'" this day :
.. saying I do remember my sin ..
The Bible does not say what the cupbearer did wrong to be called a sinning
act. A cupbearer's job was to taste the wine for poisoning first, before
giving it to Pharoah. Perhaps one day, the cupbearer forgot his duty. But
notice the sinning action is based on relationships, the cupbearer and his
superior.
( 2 ) Le 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart : thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour , and not suffer sin "chata'" upon him. {and...: or, that thou bear not sin for him}
.. neighbour and not suffer sin ..
( 3 ) Le 20:20 And if a man shall lie with his uncle's wife , he hath uncovered his uncle's nakedness : they shall bear their sin "chata'"; they shall die childless .
.. they shall bear their sin ..
Notice the sinning action is based on relationships,
the uncle's wife and some male relative .
( 4 ) Le 22:9 They shall therefore keep mine ordinance , lest they bear sin "chata'" for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.
.. ordinance lest they bear sin ..
( 5 ) Le 24:15 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel , saying , Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin "chata'".
.. God shall bear his sin ..
( 6 ) Nu 9:13 But the man that is clean , and is not in a journey , and forbeareth to keep the passover , even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people : because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season , that man shall bear his sin "chata'".
.. that man shall bear his sin ..
Failing to bring an offering at the correct time, was
considered a sinning act. Here is yet another relationship
broken between the sinner and His superior, GOD.
( 7 ) Nu 18:22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation , lest they bear sin "chata'", and die . {and die: Heb. to die}
.. congregation lest they bear sin ..
( 8 ) Nu 18:32 And ye shall bear no sin "chata'" by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel , lest ye die .
.. sin ..
( 9 ) Nu 27:3 Our father died in the wilderness , and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah ; but died in his own sin "chata'", and had no sons .
.. of Korah but died in his own sin ..
The action of sinning leads to death. One has to bear his own responsibility
for sinning. Again it is about a broken relationship.
In this case between Korah and a superior, Moses.
Or between Korah and a superior, GOD.
( 10 ) De 15:9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart , saying , The seventh year , the year of release , is at hand ; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother , and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin "chata'" unto thee. {thought: Heb. word} {wicked: Heb. Belial}
.. the LORD against thee, and it be sin ..
