| ( 21 ) 2Ch 32:26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled "kana`" himself for the pride of his heart , both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem , so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah . {pride: Heb. lifting up}
.. Notwithstanding Hezekiah lowered .. Notice some clues here
to the understanding of "kana". The Hebrew word pride here is "gabahh", the idea
of being lifted up. So we have the Hebrew cultural idea of being "higher" than
someone in a relationship (pride) and the idea of being lower than someone in a
relationship (humble).
( 22 ) 2Ch 33:12 And when he was in affliction , he besought the LORD his God , and humbled "kana`" himself greatly before the God of his fathers ,

( 23 ) 2Ch 33:19 His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin , and his trespass , and the places wherein he built high places , and set up groves and graven images , before he was humbled "kana`": behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers . {the seers: or, Hosai}

( 25 ) 2Ch 34:27 Because thine heart was tender , and thou didst humble "kana`" thyself before God , when thou heardest his words against this place , and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst "kana`" thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes , and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD .
.. .. was tender and thou didst lowered ..the inhabitants thereof, and lowered ..
( 26 ) 2Ch 36:12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God , and humbled "kana`" not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD .

( 27 ) Ne 9:24 So the children went in and possessed the land , and thou subduedst "kana`" before them the inhabitants of the land , the Canaanites , and gavest them into their hands , with their kings , and the people of the land , that they might do with them as they would . {as they...: Heb. according to their will}
.. the land and thou lowered ..
( 28 ) Job 40:12 Look on every one that is proud , and bring him low "kana`"; and tread down the wicked in their place.

Here is Job, we see another similar concept come into play. The Hebrew word
here is "geeh" the pride of being arrogant, contrasted with "kana" the idea of
being low.
( 29 ) Ps 81:14 I should soon have subdued "kana`" their enemies , and turned my hand against their adversaries .

( 30 ) Ps 106:42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection "kana`" under their hand .

( 31 ) Ps 107:12 Therefore he brought down "kana`" their heart with labour ; they fell down , and there was none to help .
