What are examples of broad meanings in Hebrew words?
Q9: What are examples of broad meanings ?
Hebrew is a language of broad pictures of meaning. For example
the word "ruwach" means "wind".
Ge 6:17.. the breath "ruwach" of life (chay)..
Job 12:10 ..the breath "ruwach" of all mankind ('iysh)..
Job 33:4 The Spirit "ruwach" of God ('el)..
Notice there are three pictures of "wind" in the Scriptures. This word "ruwach" is not ordinary wind, even though the spiritual is also a symbol
of literal things in Mother Nature. The spiritual world is as literal as our human world, yet they are also different.
So we have the wind of life. (The life force from GOD)
The wind of man. (The character of man)
The wind of GOD. (The character of God)
The "ruwach" wind is also a literal, co-eternal being, the Holy Spirit.
May God bless our renewed thinking in Hebrew. Shalom
