Q8: Ch:14. . "We Have Found the Messias" Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..
(1) the crooked made straight.. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountainand hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: and theglory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together." Isa. 40:1-5, margin.Anciently, when a king journeyed through the less frequented parts of his dominion, a company of menwas sent ahead of the royal chariot to level the steep places and to fill up the hollows, that the kingmight travel in safety and without hindrance. This custom is employed by the prophet to illustrate thework of the gospel. "Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low." Isa 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. The SOP speaks of preparing the rough and crooked people with prophets who went before the LORD to make a highway for the gospel to travel more easily. The SOP does not speak about crooked being straight, and the rough made smooth, only about the high and low parts of the road made level for travelling by the King. John the Baptist prepares the way for LORD the king to travel into people's hearts by making the high hills (proud) lower (more humble) and the rough parts smooth (the people become more receptive to the gospel). Also not mentioned here, the Holy Spirit also prepares the way for the LORD Jesus our King to enter into our hearts because the rough places are made smooth and our crooked lives become straight (like a flat plain). See a fascinating study of the properties of the Holy Spirit, and an experiment showing refraction, where the Holy Spirit functions as a medium, preparing our hearts for Jesus to enter in more easily. (2) witnessing fruit shares.. Andrew sought to impart the joy that filled his heart. Going in search of his brother Simon, he cried,"We have found the Messias." Simon waited for no second bidding. He also had heard the preaching ofJohn the Baptist, and he hastened to the Saviour. The eye of Christ rested upon him, reading hischaracter and his life history. His impulsive nature, his loving, sympathetic heart, his ambition and selfconfidence, the history of his fall, his repentance, his labors, and his martyr death,--the Saviour read itall, and He said, "Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is byinterpretation, A stone." Those who claim Peter means "rock" are mistaken...for the church is built upon the foundation flint bedrock of the Father, and then the foundation stones of Jesus, and finally the smaller lively stones are humans who become the walls of the church. Here are the three Hebrew words for rocks, bedrock and stones. When altars were made they are uncut stones placed on Jesus, and this means Jesu s takes us as we are, and He alone does the cutting on us, so we are made into a crystal gemstone of value, as He pleases. 1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.(KJV) Humans are literally made of stone...our bones are stone, and what makes them lively is the blood inside our bones, and this blood is the life force of Jesus who grants us eternal ongoing living as long as we remain abiding in Him, the life force of the Father is also a gift of relationship to us so we can respond to Jesus who empowers us with grace, so we are granted another chance to live with GOD without sinning. Notice also that when fruit is made (a simile of the Father's presence in us) we are filled with Jesus salvation, and we cannot help but share His glory wth others. Like Andrew we go and seek others we know personally and tell what personally we know about Jesus living inside of us. (3) the two mediums of communication.. The angels of God are ever passing from earth to heaven, and from heaven to earth. The miracles ofChrist for the afflicted and suffering were wrought by the power of God through the ministration of theangels. And it is through Christ, by the ministration of His heavenly messengers, that every blessingcomes from God to us. In taking upon Himself humanity, our Saviour unites His interests with those ofthe fallen sons and daughters of Adam, while through His divinity He grasps the throne of God. Andthus Christ is the medium of communication of men with God, and of God with men. The Spirit of Prophecy says "Christ is the medium of communication of men with God.." Such a profound statement can be taken many ways, but we leave the reader to investigate this further...one cannot study everything... This statement suggests possible theories of faith:- 1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; In this image, we have two media, but one medium of communication, two Comforters functioning salvation for us, but one mediator between the sinner and the Father... The air and and water, are both different media, the air affects the communication between heaven and earth, and the water affects the communication between earth and sinners. Thus the Father looks in His Son, who carries salvation to us personally via the Holy Spirit. The wrong course of others made the removal of the press from R. a necessity. I saw that the angel of mercy was winging his way from R. I was shown that the rebellion started there. God marked the families engaged in this work, and they did not all make a thorough confession of their sins and put them away as they should have done. {PH104 1.2} The Holy Spirit a s the 'angel of mercy' is carrying God's marked flow of power, it is His work for R. It is not "her work" but "his work". This is why the power flow is referenced this way. One might find this Agency or Medium mystery of the Holy Spirit confusing. In this picture we have Air, Water, and a 'straw of salvation' coming from the Father, 'His' straw. Air and water are media, or symbols of the two mediums of salvation (Jesus and the Holy Spirit). The cup is a person called R. The medium effect causes the observation, so the 'medium effect' are your eyes looking at this picture. The Father' straw looks bent in the water. What causes the bending? The 'angel of mercy'.....Why mercy? Here two straws appear straight. But if a crooked or bent sinner confesses his sins, the Holy Spirit can make special things happen. Here one straw appears crooked.. Ellen White saw the 'angel of mercy' was winging 'his' way from R. When you look into the picture of R. the light comes into the Air and Water, to make us see the Straw. The light also leaves the Air and Water, so we can also see the straw. But Air and Water does not make the strawbend or make it straight, even though it causes an effect. It is the light entering and leaving the Holy Spirit, carrying Jesus power of salvation; that allows us to see this effect as a property. The Father's power enters the media of the Holy Spirit and the media of Jesus Christ, and this is what the SOP wrote as her observation. It is God's work on R. Or 'His' way. Ellen White says this on the next sentence. ...I saw that the angel of mercy was winging his way from R. I was shown that the rebellion started there. God marked the families engaged in this work, ... Why God's work rather than the Father's work? Because the picture of R. we saw as a 'cup' with 'salvation' was not caused by the Father's light alone, nor by the Holy Spirit as water or air alone. No. The medium effect is caused by the Father entering Jesus Christ, who is channelled by the Holy Spirit as an Agency and leaving the Holy Spirit as an Agency, and this we see is GOD's work. It is referenced as "His work" because the Father expresses maleness-love. By using the term "Gods work" or "elohiym" Ellen White does not add the mediator work of Jesus to this process, but Jesus is a part of this process too, and so the communication process of salvation becomes more complicated. Many traditions of men have impacted our churches saying the Holy Spirit functions as a 'He', this comes from fuzzy translations of the Greek spoiling the New Testament that was orginally written in Hebrew. There are places where the word "Holy Spirit" in Hebrew being feminine, is expressed at times with masculine terms. So the fuzzy translation in the New Testament in Greek is not all that bad. It only becomes bad when church traditions assume the Holy Spirit is a "he" whatever that term means? Notice Psalm 91:1-4 WOW ! What a profound passage ! The passage lists all three members of Elohiym, the Father, the Shadday (Holy Spirit) and Jesus-YHWH. But notice the "he" is not clearly identified because the members within Elohiym are more than one Strong Authority. Thus the "he" could be the Father or His Son Jesus. But notice in verse four, he shall cover thee with his feathers...(a correct translation of the Hebrew, the wings of a bird) So we are left with the theory of faith, does the Father or the Son have wings like a bird ? Or do we have the Father, Holy Spirit, and the Son as a single harmonious one, so the passage is written as masculine, (as the Father is the Strong One in the Heavenly Home), despite the Holy Spirit, who has her wings like a bird; the passage is written we are covered by "his wings". We are told the Holy Spirit comes in the New Testament like the wings of a dove... But we are also told something else in the Old Testament. Ho 4:19 The wind (ruwach) "the Holy Spirit" hath bound her up in her wings (kanaph) "coverings", Notice the Holy Spirit is referenced as a "she" with "her wings" or "her coverings" Eze 1:4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind (ruwach) "the Holy Spirit" came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself,... Notice the Holy Spirit is like a fire as well as a wind, like the fire in the burning bush... Eze 1:24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty (Shadday), the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. Notice the Shadday is functioning with these angelic wings, or living creatures, as a part of them in function. The function of the Holy Spirit or Shadday, around the throne is to announce the presence of the Holy One on the throne:- Eze 1:26 .... and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. Notice the Shadday points us to the Being like the appearance of a man... Eze 1:28 ... This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And here we see YHWH, specifically Jesus-YHWH speaking as the Son of Man (a figure)... Eze 2:1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. Ezekiel is termed a Son of Man, who becomes a figure of Jesus-YHWH, also a figure of the Son of Man... Jesus would become a real Son of Man when he came to earth, born of human flesh as we humans are... Eze 2:2 And the spirit (ruwach) "Holy Spirit" entered into me... Notice the Holy Spirit enters Ezekiel, in vision, to allow the Jesus-YHWH to tallk to him.
