Q24: The Holy Spirit personality of loving.. HYPOTHESIS: What the Hebrew English translator says ... METHOD: Jesus, through the Hebrew English Translator; wrote the nature of the Holy Spirit is a mystery and silence is golden. Those who follow Jesus can know such mysteries (Mark 4:11), otherwise the truth remains hidden. We will look for a different approach to answer this mystery. Why we have to do this is because, the nature of the Holy Spirit is difficult to fathom. The Author believes this was so because of fuzzy translations. However, the SOP or Hebrew English translator, does explain the mysteries, and thus truth is revealed, if we investigate carefully. The Author feels "followers of Jesus" shall know the mystery (Mark 4:11), because a careful study of Scripture and the help of a Hebrew English translator shows the Holy Spirit expresses femaleness-love and thus is a simile of a "she" whatever that term means. Femaleness-love is a personality trait, a style of loving, that is clearly revealed in Scripture. As for gender, there is not a single thread of evidence the Father is gender male or the Holy Spirit is gender female. However expressing maleness love by the Father as a personality and femaleness love by the Holy Spirit, is a different thing altogether. What is the mystery is the Agency or Medium of the Holy Spirit, and this most people find difficult to fathom. It was not revealed in Ellen White's day. Einstein had not discovered duality yet, and Crick had not discovered the DNA mysteries of life in Ellen White's day. We all had to learn some Science in our school days, but some things are difficult to grasp. So the properties of an Agency will be shown later, for those brave enough to stretch their brains! Now let's investigate ways to show the Holy Spirit can be "she" or "her" when not directly being an Agency of heavenly power.
Angel of mercy The Scriptures do not have a phrase "angel of mercy", hence we have to carefully dig into SOP, just as we have to dig into Scripture, to uncover the gems of truth found in them. Why doesn't SOP just make things plain and simple to read? Mt 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Reading casually SOP, just as one reads carelessly Scripture, we can miss vital truths and our understanding of salvation. Now let's consider the phrase "angel of mercy"... Ge 48:3 And Jacob said unto Joseph, God "el" "strong authority" Almighty "shadday" appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,... Ge 48:16 The Angel "malak""messenger" which redeemed me from all evil,... A clue that perhaps the "el shaddai" is the "angel of mercy"? 2Sa 24:16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing place of Araunah the Jebusite. The Father-LORD tells the messenger-angel to stay destroying, this suggests an 'angel of mercy', because the Father-LORD is merciful. Notice this messenger-angel is referenced as "he". There are plenty of OT references to the "angel of YHWH" as "messenger of the LORD" is a reference to Lord-Jesus who represents His Father on earth. Could this be the Father-Lord telling His Son to be an 'angel of mercy'? .. Ex 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. Here we see two LORDs one seems to be a destroyer, while the other LORD passes over. Does Jesus function as a destroyer? So if the Father stays the destroying, the messenger is an 'angel of mercy'. 1Co 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. This passage comes from the firey serpents, Jesus on a pole as a symbol of saraph angels. Could Jesus be a symbol of the angel that destroys? And if Jesus does not destroy, an 'angel of mercy'? Many may think it strange Jesus looked like an 'angel saraph'. See studies on saraph on the pole. Jesus probably functioned this way in OT times, but today He is the SON of MAN. Isa 63:9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of hispresence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. 10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. Who is the "angel of his presence"? The reference here suggests the Holy Spirit is representing LORD-Jesus, just as LORD-Jesus represents His Father, as an 'angel of mercy'. These are the only Scripture verses that speak of "angels of mercy", so let's see what SOP says about this. The Scripture term for "angel" is messenger. Also see this study of the Holy Spirit who is termed a Being in the army of ranks, the representative of the Captain of Armies, who also comes down to do battle. How does SOP know there are two major Beings in the army ranks for war ? Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty (Shadday). Note the Holy Spirit does the bidding of Jesus as leader of the army for destruction. See the SOP studies on the Holy Spirit as an "army representative for Christ". The angel of mercy was then folding her wings to step down from the golden throne to give place to justice and swift-coming judgment. But Christ's great heart of love still pleaded for Jerusalem, that had scorned His mercies, despised His warnings, and was about to imbrue her hands in His blood." {DA 577.3} Here the angel of mercy is near the throne of Jesus ( a major clue). Notice Jerusalem imbrues her hands in Jesus blood because she rejects Jesus. Proof that Ellen White's English is actually Hebrew, the grammar for Jerusalem in Hebrew is "she" or "feminine in case". Notice who this angel near the throne might be:- Eze 1:24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty (SHADDAY), the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. 25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. 26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. Comparing SOP with Ezekiel's vision, we see an 'angel with wings' as the Shadday, and the appearance of a 'man' upon the throne as LORD-Jesus. Hosea 4:19 The wind "ruwach" hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.(KJV) Here is a rare example of the Holy Spirit who bound up the adulterous people of Israel (us) in her wings. This is an amazing discovery, thanks Lord, while stumbling through the Book of Jesus on 15 May 2017, looking for another verse. The verse shows the same phrase as SOP does "her wings". The evidence is not strong on it's own, but if we add up all the little bits and pieces as we are supposed to studying Scripture properly , the overall study of this theme becomes stronger. "The world is soon to be left by the angel of mercy and the seven last plagues are to be poured out. . . . The bolts of God's wrath are soon to fall, and when He shall begin to punish the transgressors there will be no period of respite until the end".--TM 182 (1894). {LDE 238.2} {DA 352.2} The Holy Spirit, the representative of the Captain of the Lord's host, comes down to direct the battle. "A terrible conflict is before us. We are nearing the battle of the great day of God Almighty (Shadday). That which has been held in control is to be let loose. The angel of mercy is folding her wings, preparing to step down from the throne and leave the world to the control of Satan. .--RH May 13, 1902. {LDE 250.1} If Ellen White writes Hebrew-English, than "God Almighty" is a reference to "Elohiym Shadday". Is the 'angel of mercy' just 'saraph' type angels around the throne, or a heavenly Being on a throne? Re 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Shown in Hebrew we have:- Re 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, YHWH (Jesus) Elohiym (Father) Shadday (Holy Spirit), which was, and is, and is to come. All three members of the Godhead are referenced here, on thrones before the 'saraph like angels' and the 24 elders. So me Church scholars say this three noun construct "YHWH"Elohiym"Shadday" references GOD as a whole, and they are right, it does reference GOD as a whole, but we also know that GOD as a whole is composed of (3) three individual members of the Godhead, and all three are listed here. There are some theories of faith who say GOD is only referenced as the Father and His Son, and this Scripture reference, and others like this, prove them wrong; there are three strong members in the heavenly family, not two. Grace, like an angel of mercy, makes his voice heard sweet and clear, repeating the story of the cross, the matchless love of Jesus. {ML 334.5} Grace is a fruit of love, that comes from the Father or the Son channelled by the Holy Spirit, if the 'angel of mercy' is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Could the 'angel of mercy' be a heavenly angel? I don't think so because the angels of heaven are not referenced with personalities of maleness-love or femaleness-love, although Scripture and SOP do have some angels referenced as a 'he'. Also the 'angel of mercy' whatever that term means, comes around the throne doing the Heavenly Father's bidding...so this suggests a member within the Godhead. So since the Holy Spirit is an agency for heavenly flow, the flow of grace is his grace, and his voice. This does not mean the Holy Spirit is a "he", who is a carrier of love's power. One has to investigate other ways to see if heavenly Beings have different personalities of love expressed. Our ministers are hovering over the churches, as though the angel of mercy was not making efforts to save souls. {PaM 99.3} Here is a clue to the 'angel of mercy', the Hebrew word 'hovering'. Where is this word used? Notice SOP does not use the English word "moved" as in the KJV. Ge 1:2..And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (DBY) ..And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (NKJV) ..And the Spirit of God fluttering on the face of the waters, (YLT) This word is interesting, and the hovering in and out, are the winds of the Holy Spirit, that look like wings. The Pastors in the church are lacking in the Holy Spirit, hence the reason why SOP makes this statment. No Second Probation.--There is not a second probation for anyone. Now is probationary time, before the angel shall fold her golden wings, the angel of mercy, and shall step down from the throne, and mercy, mercy is gone forever (MS 49, 1894). {7BC 989.13}(John 9:4.) Time of Probation's Close Not Revealed.--God has not revealed to us the time when this message will close, or when probation will have an end. Those things that are revealed we shall accept for ourselves and for our children; but let us not seek to know that which has been kept secret in the councils of the Almighty. . . . {7BC 989.14} We know the Holy Spirit works among sinners personally, trying to bringthem to salvation in Jesus, so the close of probation is when this wooing ends. A true defintion of the second death.. And now the Lord of life and glory was dying, a ransom for the race. It was the sense of sin, bringing the Father's wrath upon him as ma n's substitute, that made the cup he drank so bitter, and broke the heart of the Son of God. Death is not to be regarded as an angel of mercy. Nature recoils from the thought of dissolution, which is the consequence of sin. {3SP 161.2} In a strange but beautiful way the SOP speaks here. Death is not the sessation of biochemistry, as any corpse will tell you, some cells continue living for months after the soul dies. No Jesus did not experience a sessation of biochemistry, his body did not decay...what Jesus experienced which is what death, the second death, really is; is dissolution. Dissolution, is when the Father and the Holy Spirit, left Jesus to be permanently alone without continual communion, which GOD did for three days and nights.... For humans made of atomic dust, it would spell the end of the atom itself. For a heavenly Being like Jesus with heavenly Elohiym power, his body did not decay, but He did experience the dissolution of the Father and the Holy Spirit. They left Him, that is why He says 'my God, my God, why are you leaving me'? Ps 22:1 Those who sadly enter into the second death, enter a place where not even atoms exist. A place Science terms Absolute Zero, in terms of cold. You will finally cease to exist. The reference to 'angel of mercy' cannot be a heavenly angel, for SOP contraststhis term to death...a power that opposes the heavenly Elohiym. The angel of mercy is hovering over the East. Said the angel: "Strengthen the things that remain. Proclaim the message to those who have not heard it." There are some in the East who will be in danger of going to extremes when the Lord shall revive His work among them. They should remember that the Lord removed His work from them to the West to humble them, and to subdue an independent, rebellious spirit in them, and lead them to better prize the efforts of His faithful servants. {1T 389.1} During the end of time, the latter rains of Jesus come to those that remain faithful to Him, via the Holy Spirit, seen here hovering as an 'angel of mercy'. Why is this term introduced in the SOP, when it's not directly clear in Scripture? I don't know. The Scriptures and GOD speak in parables and mysteries. It keeps us humble this way. A reference to Rev 7:2 ? As the approach of the Roman armies was a sign to the disciples of the impending destruction of Jerusalem, so may this apostasy be a sign to us that the limit of God's forbearance is reached, that the measure of our nation's iniquity is full, and that the angel of mercy is about to take her flight, never to return. The people of God will then be plunged into those scenes of affliction and distress which prophets have described as the time of Jacob's trouble. The cries of the faithful, persecuted ones ascend to heaven. And as the blood of Abel cried from the ground, there are voices also crying to God from martyrs' graves, from the sepulchers of the sea, from mountain caverns, from convent vaults: "How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?" {5T 451.2} During the end of time, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit work to bring a final harvest on earth, and the 'angel of mercy' comes to a final end. This time is right upon us. The Spirit of God is being withdrawn from the earth. When the angel of mercy folds her wings and departs, Satan will do the evil deeds he has long wished to do. {RH, September 17, 1901 par. 9} During probation the 'angel of mercy' works.. Some different contexts of 'angel of mercy'... Some confusing examples.. It is the privilege and the duty of every youth, as an angel of mercy, to minister to the wants and woes of mankind. There is no class that can achieve greater results for God and humanity than the young. {ST, November 3, 1881 par. 21} Here the work of the Holy Spirit is a simile of the child like energy of youth. Some time later reading Scripture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, there is Scripture like this: Ps 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's "nesher". I add this verse to show the reader that given time and prayer, GOD will impress you with reasons why SOP writes strange things...which appear from nowhere, but actually comes from Scripture...the "nesher" is a simile of the function of the Holy Spirit. The reader should know our presentations are honest, eveything is shown, the good points and the confusing points, as a honest scientist seeking the Science of Salvation should present. The presentation is thus not biased and if evidence comes that the Author does not understand, it is simply presented as a mystery. One cannot expect to know everything about Scripture. We also welcome your own theories of faith, and the evidence you present. Email me. By your example show them the charm of becoming behavior. Do not become weary in your labor of love. The angel of mercy pauses not in his efforts until the last sinner has heard the message of mercy. Patiently, untiringly, work for your little ones. Think how young they are, how much they have to learn. Deal with them gently and lovingly. By the cords of unselfish love bind them to you and to Christ. {ST, April 23, 1902 par. 10} When the Holy Spirit who is a medium or agency for power flow, operates in the presence of others whose powers flow, Hebrew always writes this in a masculine way unless no maleness-love entities are present, then a feminine pronoun is used. This is how Hebrew works in the presence of maleness-love and femaleness-love, the masculine takes precedence. Otherwise we have a problem, why is sometimes 'angel of mercy' a "he" and sometimes a "she" ? Scripture and SOP cannot contradict each other, what we have to find is a bigger picture. And Jeff Benner helped me with regarding Hebrew, after all, Scripture is written in Hebrew, and follows Eastern ways. See further studies on Holy Spirit and Ellen White. But if the group of children is boys and girls you always use the masculine form yelediym. The masculine form always takes over if the group is of both masculine and feminine." (Jeff Benner, Ancient Hebrew Research Center) The wrong course o f others made the removal of the press from R. a necessity. I saw that the angel of mercy was winging his way from R. I was shown that the rebellion started there. God marked the families engaged in this work, and they did not all make a thorough confession of their sins and put them away as they should have done. {PH104 1.2} The Holy Spirit as the 'angel of mercy' is carrying God's marked flow of power, it is His work for R. It is not "her work" but "his work". This is why the power flow is referenced this way. One might find this Agency or Medium mystery of the Holy Spirit confusing. In this picture we have Air, Water, and a 'straw of salvation' coming from the Father, 'His' straw. Air and water are media, or symbols of the Holy Spirit. The cup is a person called R. The medium effect causes the observation, so the 'medium effect' are your eyes looking at this picture. The Father' straw looks bent in the water. What causes the bending? The 'angel of mercy'.....Why mercy? Here two straws appear straight. But if a crooked or bent sinner confesses his sins, the Holy Spirit can make special things happen. Here one straw appears crooked.. Ellen White saw the 'angel of mercy' was winging 'his' way from R. When you look into the picture of R. the light comes into the Air and Water, to make us see the Straw. The light also leaves the Air and Water, so we can also see the straw. But Air and Water does not make the strawbend or make it straight, even though it causes an effect. It is the light entering and leaving the Holy Spirit that allows us to see this effect as a property. The Father's power enters the medium of the Holy Spirit, and this is what we see. It is God's work on R. Or 'His' way. Ellen White says this on the next sentence. ...I saw that the angel of mercy was winging his way from R. I was shown that the rebellion started there. God marked the families engaged in this work, ... Why God's work rather than the Father's work? Because the picture of R. we saw as a 'cup' with 'salvation' was not caused by the Father's light alone, nor by the Holy Spirit as water or air alone. No. The medium effect is caused by the Father entering the Holy Spirit as an Agency and leaving the Holy Spirit as an Agency, and this we see is GOD's work. It is referenced as "His work" because the Father expresses maleness-love. Ask yourselves the question, "What should I be?" Christ says, "Without me ye can do nothing." {1888 1752.5} My heart has been filled with sadness as I have looked over the field and seen the barren places. What does this mean? Who are standing as representatives of Jesus Christ? Who feels a burden for the souls who can not receive the truth till it is brought to them. Our ministers are hovering over the churches, as though the angel of mercy was not making efforts to save souls. {1888 1752.6} The Holy Spirit is a representative of Jesus, as Pastors are supposed to be, empowered by the hovering power of the 'angel of mercy' , the representative of GOD, the agency by which mercy flows via the Holy Spirit. I pray this study is useful to unravel confusion, and help make things a little clearer. In case your not real clear, let's see what Scripture says that is confusing too, with the same theme of the Holy Spirit, on the next webpage. |
