( 291 ) Lu 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins "chatta'ah", (he said unto the sick of the palsy ,) I say unto thee , Arise , and take up thy couch , and go into thine house .
.. upon earth to forgive sin-offering ..
( 292 ) Lu 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee , Her sins "chatta'ah", which are many , are forgiven ; for she loved much : but to whom little is forgiven , the same loveth little .
.. say unto thee Her sin-offering ..
The sins or errors and guilt a sinner packages into the sin-offering should affect
the attitude of gratitude the sinner feels when the sin-bearer takes those
sins away. The love from the Saviour causes a love response from the
sinner in kind. For he who is forgiven much, loves much; and he who is
forgiven little loves little.
( 293 ) Lu 7:48 And he said unto her , Thy sins "chatta'ah" are forgiven .
.. said unto her Thy sin-offering ..
( 294 ) Lu 7:49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves , Who is this that forgiveth sins "chatta'ah" also ?
.. that forgiveth sin-offering ..
( 295 ) Lu 11:4 And forgive us our sins "chatta'ah"; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us . And lead us not into temptation ; but deliver us from evil .
.. us our sin-offering ..
The LORD'S prayer recorded in Luke (Greek) is different to the Lord's prayer
in Matthew (Hebrew). Both uses different Greek words. This suggests Luke
translated the Hebrew in Matthew into different Greek words so the Greek
readers would understand the Hebrew meaning in Matthew.
Mt 6:12 And forgive us our debts "opheilema", as we forgive our debtors "opheilo".
Lu 11:4 And forgive us our sins "hamartia"; for we also forgive every one that is indebted "opheilo" to us.
The Greek word "hamartia" is the Hebrew word "chataah" the "sin-offering". But what is the Hebrew meaning of the Greek word "opheila" ? The next verse
in Matthew suggest a simile to another Greek word "paraptoma", what ever
that word was in Hebrew ? And according to Luke these two words are similes
of the "sin-offering" ? (To the reader, I am of child like understanding and do not have the answers to all my studies, we are like children picking up
grains of truth while the oceans of sand lay before us. )
( 296 ) Lu 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins "chatta'ah" should be preached in his name among all nations , beginning at Jerusalem .
.. remission of sin-offering ..
( 297 ) Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him , and saith , Behold the Lamb of God , which taketh away the sin "chatta'ah" of the world .
.. which taketh away the sin-offering ..
Behold ! Jesus, the Person ! Who is the Lamb of GOD which takes away the sin-offering of the world !
( 298 ) Joh 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them , I go my way , and ye shall seek me , and shall die in your sins "chatta'ah": whither I go , ye cannot come .
.. die in your sin-offering ..
Many did not understand Jesus was the sin-bearer for the sin-offering....
( 299 ) Joh 8:24 I said therefore unto you , that ye shall die in your sins "chatta'ah": for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins "chatta'ah".
.. .. die in your sin-offering ..die in your sin-offering ..
( 300 ) Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them , Verily , verily , I say unto you , Whosoever committeth sin "chatta'ah" is the servant of sin "chatta'ah".
.. .. Whosoever committeth sin-offering ..the servant of sin-offering ..
This is an interesting statement. Who ever does the sin-offering is a servant
of the sin-offering. The Jews were enslaved by the sin-offering process that
did not promise freedom from sinning. The Jews had turned the sin-offering
process into a process of bloodshed and symbols that had lost their intended
meaning. Jesus was the sin-bearer of the sin-offering, but the Jews did not
understand. The reason they did not understand is because the sin-offering
process they were following came from Satan. His method of salvation
requires a sin-offering every day, that one could go on sinning as long
as one sacrificed the sin-offering daily. It was a type of cheap grace or
forgiveness without power. The sneering Jews accursed Jesus as a
fornicator, but the Jews themselves were fornicators, sowing their love among
two masters and mixing false salvation with true salvation.
They were deceived and full of pride. They thought they had achieved
salvation through human power effort. This is called Baal in Scripture. Under
different names it can also be called Babylon, a different child root from Bal.
Jesus says to them if ye do the sin-offering ye are slaves to the sin-offering.
Jesus wanted to make them free from such continuous burdens. Baptism in
Jesus need only be done once. The sin-offering process to save sinners need
only be performed once. The washing of sinning daily through prayer and confessing one's sin-offering make the sinner experience true freedom, to
walk a victorious life without the sacrifices again and again. Such sacrifice
was needed only once because Jesus is a better sacrifice and His power to
overcome sinning is supreme. But the Jews did not understand all this, and
were slaves to ritual salvation systems based on human efforts and human
traditions, ritual meaninglessness, a chasing after the wind. Shalom
