( 21 ) Ps 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity ; and in sin "chata'" did my mother conceive me. {conceive...: Heb. warm me}
.. was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me...
Many scholars use this verse to suggest David was born sinning from birth..
Let's have a brief look at this verse carefully..
Ps 51:5 Behold, I was twisting "chuwl" in guilt "`avon";
and in sinning "chata'" did my mother "'em" conceive (during oestrus
heat)"yacham" me.
Above is the translated meaning of each Hebrew word. There is no
mention of birthing here at all ( The Hebrew word for birth is "yalad" ) only
of oestrus heat "yacham", the time a women is on heat for conception.
What was David's mother doing that made her actions cause guilt,
that David was conceived in such a way ?
Perhaps the real fault lies with Jesse from Moabite stock through Obed and
Ruth the Moabitess. Jesse may well have not wanted family through strict
Hebrew lines because He considered himself impure. There is though some
evidence that David's birth had guilt in it from the beginning, and it wasn't
because of David being born sinning. Such a concept does not exist in
Scripture.
( 22 ) Ps 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins "chata'", and blot out all mine iniquities .
.. 51:9 Hide thy face from my sin ..
( 23 ) Ps 103:10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins "chata'"; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities .
.. He hath not dealt with us after our sin ..
We can be thankful that God does not repay us as our guilt deserves.
It is interesting the King James decided not to use the English word "guilt"
but chose "iniquity" instead. Why I don't know. The Hebrew word "avon"
is "guilt" the twisting around our souls from sinning.
( 24 ) Ec 10:4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place ; for yielding pacifieth great offences "chata'".
.. great sin ..
Notice the concept of a ruler here, and its association with great sinning.
It is also the "wind" of a ruler"
The word "wind" here is "ruwach" a word that means "Holy Spirit".
There are different broad meanings for wind
The wind of a man, means the character of the man
The wind of GOD, means the character of GOD.
The wind of life, means the breath of life,
Now all these three meanings, which are similar to each other,
are all administration actions done by the Holy Spirit.
( 25 ) Isa 1:18 Come now , and let us reason together , saith the LORD : though your sins "chata'" be as scarlet , they shall be as white as snow ; though they be red like crimson , they shall be as wool .
.. saith the LORD though your sin ..
Notice the concept of sinning is again about relationships...
this time between you, the sinner and a superior, Jesus.
( 26 ) Isa 31:7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver , and his idols of gold , which your own hands have made unto you for a sin "chata'". {his idols of gold: Heb. the idols of his gold}
.. hands have made unto you for a sin ..
Isa 31:6 Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply
revolted. At first this verse suggests money can be a sin. As if sinning
can relate to a non-relationship idea. But in the previous verse,
the money is about people.
Actually money is a relationship system of one higher person
over another lower person, the amount of money between them
determines their social standing between themselves.
Thus money is a corruption of relationships, for God's ideal is
all people should have equal social footing with each other.
Thus money is declared a sinning problem because it destroys
relationships. Notice money is about an inferior people (less money)
and the relationship of a superior person (with more money).
The Bible calls this mastery for money, a sinning attitude.
( 27 ) Isa 38:17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness : but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption : for thou hast cast all my sins "chata'" behind thy back . {for peace...: or, on my peace came great bitterness} {thou hast in...: Heb. thou hast loved my soul from the pit}
.. for thou hast cast all my sin ..
( 28 ) Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great , and he shall divide the spoil with the strong ; because he hath poured out his soul unto death : and he was numbered with the transgressors ; and he bare the sin "chata'" of many , and made intercession for the transgressors .
.. and he bare the sin ..
Jesus was numbered with sinning people on a cross.
Jesus beared the sinning of many. And consider Jesus
never did any sinning of His own. This is a strange act.
A mystery of grace and mercy to die for somebody else
who deserves death because of his sinning actions.
Such an act should bring out on us a profound love for Jesus.
Even the ugly scars in His hands for eternity will be seen
as symbols of eternal gratitude by us, His redeemed.
Zec 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands?
Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
O profound love ! Praise Him who was slain for me. Shalom
( 29 ) La 1:8 Jerusalem hath grievously "chata'" sinned "chata'"; therefore she is removed : all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness : yea, she sigheth , and turneth backward . {is...: Heb. is become a removing, or, wandering}
.. .. sin ..hath grievously sin ..
( 30 ) La 3:39 Wherefore doth a living man complain , a man for the punishment of his sins "chata'"? {complain: or, murmur}
.. a man for the punishment of his sin ..
