As opposed to humble, to lower in humility.
The self indulgent person is lofty, rising in pride
and unable to lower his status, his position
and his dignity for any other authority
except himself. They live in mansions
on the lofty hills of suburbs, They live
in the lofty skycrapers of cities, looking
over the lower ones, in poverty.
