guilt and sin-offering

( 81 ) Ps 38:18 For I will declare mine iniquity "`avon"; I will be sorry for my sin .

..For I will declare mine guilt .. notice this is a Hebrew parallel expressing one idea in two different ways... "Avon" or guilt is the result of wrong doing. "Chataah" is the sin offering you make because of wrong doing. Thus if I declare my guilt, and am also making a sin offering...so one can agree with Scripture that this is indeed two pictures of a similar concept, that of confession of sin. See further studies of chataah.

( 82 ) Ps 39:11 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity "`avon", thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth : surely every man is vanity . Selah . {his...: Heb. that which is to be desired in him to melt away}

.. correct man for guilt ..

( 83 ) Ps 40:12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities "`avon" have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up ; they are more than the hairs of mine head : therefore my heart faileth me. {falleth: Heb. forsaketh}

.. compassed me about: mine guilt ..

( 84 ) Ps 49:5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil , when the iniquity "`avon" of my heels shall compass me about?

.. in the days of evil when the guilt ..

( 85 ) Ps 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity "`avon", and cleanse me from my sin .

.. me throughly from mine guilt ..notice this is a Hebrew parallel expressing one idea in two different ways... "Avon" or guilt is the result of wrong doing. "Chataah" is the sin offering you make because of wrong doing. Thus if I wash throughly my guilt, and am also cleansing my sin offering.. .so one can agree with Scripture that this is indeed two pictures of a similar concept, that of the purging of sin. See studies of chataah.

( 86 ) Ps 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity "`avon"; and in sin did my mother conceive me. {conceive...: Heb. warm me}

.. Behold I was shapen in guilt and from [past] sinning did my mother conceive me .. Many scholars try to make this verse support the idea we are born into sin, which is not true or supported by Scripture. The Hebrew word "chet" is really the same as the word "chata" and while one is a noun "chet" and the other a verb "chata". Both words mean the same thing, which would surprise scholars, when I say this. See studies on this. The noun form of this word suggests sinning is a past tense, while chata is sinning in a present tense. Hebrew words are all based mostly on verbs of action, even nouns. Thus this verse is really saying David's mother did some sinning, so it appears in the conception of her son. See studies about this.

( 87 ) Ps 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins , and blot out all mine iniquities "`avon".

.. and blot out all mine guilt ..

( 88 ) Ps 59:4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault "`avon": awake to help me, and behold . {help: Heb. meet}

.. prepare themselves without my guilt ..

( 89 ) Ps 65:3 Iniquities "`avon" prevail against me: as for our transgressions , thou shalt purge them away . {iniquities: Heb. Words, or, Matters of iniquities}

.. guilt ..

( 90 ) Ps 69:27 Add iniquity "`avon" unto their iniquity "`avon": and let them not come into thy righteousness . {iniquity unto...: or, punishment of iniquity, etc}

.. .. guilt ..Add iniquity unto their guilt ..
