Desire is a good thing, and a bad thing
( 1 ) Ge 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant "chamad" to the sight , and good for food ; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden , and the tree of knowledge of good and evil .
.. God made every tree desirable to the eyes..
Here we see the power of "desire" is not inherently bad.
"desire"
God wants us to open doors of knowledge and experience. He is careful
that we open the functional doors, the good doors, not bad doors.
God wants us to rise to his position, as well as abundantly use His power.
The problem is the abuse of position and the abuse of power that produces
sin. Hence sin is a broken relationship. The abuse of position and power.
( 2 ) Ge 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food , and that it was pleasant to the eyes , and a tree to be desired "chamad" to make one wise , she took of the fruit thereof , and did eat , and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat . {pleasant: Heb. a desire}
.. the eyes and a tree to be desire .. .. grow every tree that is desire ..
Poor Eve, her first sin was pride.. Eve breaks all major sins in the Father's
Ten Commandment relationship principles...notice the verse here:-
Ge 3:6 And when the woman
saw that the tree was good for food,
(1) pride
and that it was pleasant to the eyes,
(2) lust
and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
(3) power
she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
(4) self
and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
(4) witness
In one verse all four relationship commandments are broken...
Truly the word "desire" is no weak word in Hebrew !
( 3 ) Ex 20:17 Thou shalt not covet "chamad" thy neighbour's house , thou shalt not covet "chamad" thy neighbour's wife , nor his manservant , nor his maidservant , nor his ox , nor his ass , nor any thing that is thy neighbour's .
.. .. desire ..house thou shalt not desire ..
( 4 ) Ex 34:24 For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders : neither shall any man desire "chamad" thy land , when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year .
.. neither shall any man desire ..
( 5 ) De 5:21 Neither shalt thou desire "chamad" thy neighbour's wife , neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house , his field , or his manservant , or his maidservant , his ox , or his ass , or any thing that is thy neighbour's .
.. desire thy neigbours wife.. Notice Jesus speaks the same
words in the New Testament, in Hebrew, not Greek.
The word "desire" is no weak word in the Hebrew, it also means to "lust"
and to "covet". The word "desire" in the hands of Satanic agencies
is the "love power lust" for controlling others. Often we play such power
in our mind's imagination, while the more bolder ones play the power game
in real life, like the serial rapist, or serial killer.
The word "desire" is no weak word in Hebrew !
( 6 ) De 7:25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire : thou shalt not desire "chamad" the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God .
.. with fire thou shalt not desire ..
Jesus forbids us to "desire" worldly goods, that show status, wealth or pomp.
Extravagence is a sinful abuse of the power or desire.
( 7 ) Jos 7:21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment , and two hundred shekels of silver , and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight , then I coveted "chamad" them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent , and the silver under it. {wedge: Heb. tongue}
.. weight then I desired it ..
( 8 ) Job 20:20 Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly , he shall not save of that which he desired "chamad". {feel: Heb. know}
.. he shall not save of that which he desire ..
( 9 ) Ps 19:10 More to be desired "chamad" are they than gold , yea, than much fine gold : sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb . {the honeycomb: Heb. the dropping of honeycombs}
.. desire ..
( 10 ) Ps 39:11 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity , thou makest his beauty "chamad" to consume away like a moth : surely every man is vanity . Selah . {his...: Heb. that which is to be desired in him to melt away}
.. iniquity thou makest his desire ..
