Q7: Amish Style Gardening. An update on corn growing - 4 weeks old - 28 days - one month! Using the same scale about 200mm long, a picture of mung beans, etc growing in potato boxes. Hopefully making rich soil before needed in March 2027. The snow peas, with pods on them. Both picture metal boxes that once held straw, some wood chip, wood ash, sand ONLY. The soil is coming along as the mixture decays and turns into rich soil. The soil in the chook pen old cow manure with corn in it, not watered every day - - a control for other corn growing - Also 4 weeks old - in second place ! The farmers soil trial Barely 300mm high dead soil no earthworms watered every day but not growing well - OK - slowly Might have got fartilizer burn from one teaspoon of NPK placed 1 inch below the seedling that went into the same hole ? I suspect many things as listed above. What the soil shed looks like Now with netting over it Keep birds away View at rows of corn inside I think in time - I will try to change this to an organic shed also But need lots of flour, molasses and milk powder with little NPK fertilizer food scraps and lucerne mixed in with brown and green compost clippings We will see - for now - its a trial to compare traditional soil method for growing corn.
