Q47: 54. The Good Samaritan Show the Desire of Ages is inspired.. (1) The ultimate test we have Jesus.. "This do, and thou shalt live," Jesus said. He presented the law as a divine unity, and in this lessontaught that it is not possible to keep one precept, and break another; for the same principle runs throughthem all. Man's destiny will be determined by his obedience to the whole law. Supreme love to Godand impartial love to man are the principles to be wrought out in the life. The ultimate test we have a relationship with Jesus, is by our obedience to His "torah teachings" commonly translated as "law". There are different teachings in the writings for different functions. Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:(KJV) Here James calls the "teachings", "royal teachings", what are these? He does not quote the OT writing fully "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well". Le 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.(KJV) Here is the OT verse, where our story comes from, but the NT does not quote the verse fully, nor does the KJV translate it properly. Le 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour (kamow) like the LORD.(Ancient Hebrew translation) Here we are to love the "royal teachings" like Jesus' loving did, when He was on earth, like how Jesus loves us. The Spirit of Prophecy says ... The lawyer found himself a lawbreaker. He was convicted under Christ's searching words. Therighteousness of the law, which he claimed to understand, he had not practiced. He had not manifestedlove toward his fellow man. Repentance was demanded; but instead of repenting, he tried to justifyhimself. Rather than acknowledge the truth, he sought to show how difficult of fulfillment thecommandment is. Thus he hoped both to parry conviction and to vindicate himself in the eyes of thepeople . The Saviour's words had shown that his question was needless, since he had been able toanswer it himself. Yet he put another question, saying, "Who is my neighbor?" People try to dispel Jesus by highlighting others who fail with Jesus. People make excuses saying following rules of love is too difficult. People make excuses saying who is my neighbour? People make excuses not to follow Jesus because they cannot see Him, therefore He does not exist. But we use electricity every day, and we cannot see electricity.Yes but such power has many practical applications we can see working in our lives. So why can't we allow Jesus power to run through our lives in many practical applications. What are we afraid of?Are we afraid to show love in a relationship? Do we prefer to live alone and do our own thing? (2) How to overcome doubt.. The way to dispel darkness is to admit light. The best way to deal with error is to present truth. The best way to overcome doubt is to present truth. When we witness to people and listen to their excuses, do not walk into their darkness, but instead present light. Show them how you live in Jesus' light. Evidence will not change them, or make their doubts or excuses go away. They need a different world view of seeing things. They need to switch on the light, not try to reason while living in the dark. Even when darkness fell upon Job who lived right before GOD, was not given a reason for his demise. Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer (gaal) "Heavenly Jesus" liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job understood salvation through loving Jesus and respecting GOD. But Job did not receive answers for His demise, we live in relationship with GOD in a humble and meek manner. Shalom The next chapter of Desire of Ages..we look at "Not With Outward Show" |
