Q:9 what does faith mean? Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (KJV) So if faith is unseen, some divine power, than our "walking by faith in GOD" is silent? No, our "salvation" doesn't have to be silent. We have mis-understood "faith". It is true "Faith" is an unseen divine power hoped for, in us, but GOD is a still small voice that talks to us, giving us His gift of faith. Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. What is James talking about? What works are these that I do? Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (KJV) In this passage James is saying faith is a relationship concept. If you have faith in Jesus creating a relationship, than your faith will also make relationships with others. Love is relationship concept, the fruit of faith. Love, if it hath no loving, is dead being alone. Ro 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Ro 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; Ga 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Paul introduces a strange term "works of the law". What does this mean? Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. The term "works of the law" refers to people who establish their own righteousness by doing good things the law requires using human powers alone, the man doeth those things in the law, liveth by those laws. Paul is saying this isn't faith. Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: These verses tell us that salvation from Jesus is really simple and easy, you simply take the gift of GOD. Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. (KJV) We pray this prayer promise and Jesus starts growing inside of us. We are straight in His Hand. Saved by Grace. Even the most wicked person can pray this prayer and be saved. But as the seedling begins, it also must bear fruit in order to be fully complete. The fruit is evidence that Jesus is growing and maintained within you. How we maintain the seedling of Jesus growing in us is described by James. How we starting Jesus, by receiving the gift of His salvation in us, is described by Paul. They are both speaking of two different aspects of salvation: Scripture speaks of salvation as a Seed. Mt 13:3 And Jesus spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; We are the Sower sowing Jesus as His Seeds in our heart. Mt 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. (KJV) Be careful with the seeds of Jesus we sow. Inside a physical monocot seed are three major components. The seed leaf consists of the skin (simile of Holy Spirit) and the leaf starch ( a simile of bread from heaven: Jesus). The inner germ is where the "life germinating principle" resides, a simile of the Father. Inside the germ are also three major functions that make the seed grow: The Shoot, a simile of Jesus growing in you, the Root a simile of the Holy Spirit teaching and feeding you, and the Embryo where the source of the "life germinating principle" resides, the heavenly Father. Humans cannot help or make seeds grow, they grow from no help from you. Thus Sowing Seeds Spiritually is a gift from GOD. But once the seedling emerges into the world, it does need help from you daily in order to maintain it's growing. Any gardener knows this comforting by you is necessary: Lu 13:7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. So in order to maintain the growing of Jesus in you, there are things you have to do daily also. One of the most important things to maintain relationship is to keep on holding His hand. Desire the second birth daily, in prayer say: Our Father, may I hear the still small voice of GOD speaking to me via my conscience. May I receive the gift of faith. May I keep holding Your Hand. Amen You have just sown many prayer promises in your mind. Mt 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. Scripture is a Book of hidden mysteries for a reason, so only those wanting salvation will find it. So where does Scripture tell us how to even read Scripture correctly? |
