Q4: Discussion of Memrah (3) De 33:8 And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
De 33:9 Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.
What is the word-personifed about here in this context? What does thummim and urim mean? what does father and mother and brotherhood mean?
At the right and left of the breastplate were two large stones of great brilliancy. These were known as the Urim and Thummim. By them the will of God was made known through the high priest. When questions were brought for decision before the Lord, a halo of light encircling the precious stone at the right was a token of the divine consent or approval, while a cloud shadowing the stone at the left was an evidence of denial or disapprobation. Not much help about this context.
(4) 2Sa 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. (KJV)
2Sa 22:31 The Strong Authorities road is complete; the word-personifed of Jesus-YHWH is refined: he is a shield to all them that trust in Jesus. (Ancient Hebrew)
The word-personifed in refined in the blacksmith's fire, purged pure and of highest quality. This is what Jesus power as His words mean. His words have been tested, refined and purified.
Jesus personally tested His own words on earth in person, using the support of His Father just as we can walk using the support of our Jesus, our Saviour.
Not by our words of power, but His words of power.
