Here we see the WORD from Old Testament times, as poetry symbols of words...
The words of mercy and grace seem symbols of Jesus, the YHWH messenger of His Father, the YHWH of heaven...
Also truth is a word, who is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Both powers were sent by the Father...to redeem earth..
(134) Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses , but grace and truth (emeth) came by Jesus Christ .

If the law (torah) is a symbol of the Holy Spirit of truth, why does Jesus bring grace and truth anew ?
The Jews saw the torah teachings of Moses literally. They did not see these teachings of truth were really an antitype of Jesus and renewed truth.
Yes the Holy Spirit expresses both Old and New testaments of God's love, but in the New Testament, this love is expressed in a 'human GOD', 'GOD with man'...
while in the Old Testament love was revealed in torah teachings through mankind only...GOD could only speak outside mankind, and not in mankind.
When YHWH came as Yasha (Jesus) to rescue mankind by becoming the 'GOD-MAN', the truth became more empowered. The Holy Spirit carries the same truth, but now in Jesus, the 'GOD-MAN', human powers can be experienced greater than before.
(135) Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth (emeth) cometh to the light , that his deeds may be made manifest , that they are wrought in God .
he that doeth truth (emeth) cometh to the light..
An Old testament saying... in Proverbs 6:23 Torah is a light, thus truth is a witness of that light.
(136) Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh , and now is , when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth (emeth) : for the Father seeketh such to worship him .

When is says Elohiym is Spirit, it is speaking that all the GODHEAD is appreciated via the medium agency of the Holy Spirit.
We cannot see GOD except darkly...GOD is beyond us...not of matter, time or space...the uncaused cause..the Great I AM.
We perceive GOD only via the medium of the Holy Spirit.
(138) Joh 5:33 Ye sent unto John , and he bare witness unto the truth (emeth) .
.. he bare witness unto the truth (emeth) .
John the Baptist was also born of the Holy Spirit from birth, and here shows us the truth
(139) Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth (emeth) , and the truth (emeth) shall make you free .
.. ye shall know the truth (emeth) ..
The truth makes us free because truth is made known to us via a co-eternal Being, the Holy Spirit, and through our conscience we are made free indeed.
(140) Joh 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me , a man that hath told you the truth (emeth) , which I have heard of God : this did not Abraham .

Those who have not truth, the Holy Spirit, have an evil spirit instead, the angel spirits of devils.
