Jude gives a major clue to Balaam's life with GOD and with Satan. It was
half hearted in its attempt. Cain's religion was one that took shortcut in
worship, a bending or rules here and there, a comprise with self exaltation.
Jesus cannot stand half hearted religious worship of Him...such a religion
is called lukewarm.
Re 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast
there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac
to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat
things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
One thing Balaam did before he slipped from history was to suggest a way
to trip up Israel over to sinning with Balack..He proposed they invite the
Israelites to a lust feast of song and dance with the daughters of Moab,
and sexual indulgence worked a charm among the naive men of Israel.
So Baal religion is a system of sexual indulgances, partying and dancing
under the spell of intoxications. See Nu 24:14; 25:1; 31:16;
