Family aspects of Baal

( 21 ) 1Ki 18:26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal "Ba`al" from morning even until noon , saying , O Baal "Ba`al", hear us. But there was no voice , nor any that answered . And they leaped upon the altar which was made . {hear: or, answer} {answered: or, heard} {leaped...: or, leaped up and down at the altar}

( 23 ) 1Ki 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel , all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal "Ba`al", and every mouth which hath not kissed him. {I have...: or, I will leave}

.. which have not bowed unto baal .. GOD always has a remnant who worship Him in truth and spirit, completely..

( 24 ) 1Ki 22:53 For he served Baal "Ba`al", and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel , according to all that his father had done .

( 25 ) 2Ki 3:2 And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD ; but not like his father , and like his mother : for he put away the image of Baal "Ba`al" that his father had made . {image: Heb. statue}

.. he put away the image of baal .. Notice the reference to father and mother..Baal was a family god, the "strong secure authority" that puts in a lot of effort that comes to nothing. It is a picture of a family that strives to succeed, whatever that word means to them. They make it to the top, whatever that word means to them. They have achieved fame and success. They have a medal to display to others. All the effort comes to nothing. This is Baal worship, a chasing after the wind.

( 26 ) 2Ki 10:18 And Jehu gathered all the people together , and said unto them, Ahab served Baal "Ba`al" a little ; but Jehu shall serve him much .

( 27 ) 2Ki 10:19 Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal "Ba`al", all his servants , and all his priests ; let none be wanting : for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal "Ba`al"; whosoever shall be wanting , he shall not live . But Jehu did it in subtilty , to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal "Ba`al".

( 28 ) 2Ki 10:20 And Jehu said , Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal "Ba`al". And they proclaimed it. {Proclaim: Heb. Sanctify}

( 29 ) 2Ki 10:21 And Jehu sent through all Israel : and all the worshippers of Baal "Ba`al" came , so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal "Ba`al"; and the house of Baal "Ba`al" was full from one end to another . {full...: or, so full that they stood mouth to mouth}

( 30 ) 2Ki 10:22 And he said unto him that was over the vestry , Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal "Ba`al". And he brought them forth vestments .
