HYPOTHESIS: What does Hebrew "keceph" mean ? INTRODUCTION: Money in scripture was a bartering system. They used silver coin and gold coin. Our study today focuses on "silver". The study is looking at the application of "silver" and "money" for today's world. The number of verses is huge, over 350 of them, so happy studying ! This study shows money in a positive light. The study of Mammon. is another different Hebrew word and shows money in a negative light. METHOD: All verses are studied, including NT references CONCLUSION: The meaning of "keceph" is "silver". This picture is a symbol of "money". PICTURE: "keceph" "silver" The pictograph meaning for this word is { In the "Palms of the hand" are "thorns" of the "mouth"}. PERSONAL APPLICATION: This word has some interesting meaning. The letter of the palm has many meanings of application, from treasure, to gather, to cut and to buy. The letter also carries emotional meanings such as "to feel heavy of heart". Money is used to express our gratitude of attitude towards Jesus' salvation through us. One cannot purchase salvation with money ! Salvation is free without cost, and without money. Placing money in a sinning box for atonement (something all churches should provide) is not to appease Jesus. The act allows the sinner to express his gratitude of attitude in a literal and symbolic way. Many churches today assume Jesus forgives our sinning through prayers of grace only, and not in some literal sense by offerings. This thought is wrong. Some say Jesus abolished offerings and sacrifice upon the cross. Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering
oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Paul's writings cannot be anti-torah, for to abolish the entire culture
of salvation made by Jesus, would mean the abolish the entire Bible.
Paul is writing about religions that pick and choose between OT and
NT writings. Humans decide which teachings they which to adopt.
Such a religion is of this kind is described in Scripture very clearly.
It's called Cain's way, or Baal religion, the heart effort of
"self-powered persons" whose flows come to nothing.
Jos 24:15 .. choose you this day whom ye will serve;..
Mt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,
and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.
So the need for animal sacrifice is removed. According to the
verse above it was never did any powerful thing anyway... The act
of animal sacrifice was to point forward to Jesus, a real human
sacrifice, of infinite power and infinite affliction and infinite humility !
Jesus is our sacrifice, and so every minute detail of the torah of teaching
remains. The torah is a tutor that brings you closer and closer to
Jesus. And once you are complete in Jesus, and without sinning, the
torah's job is ended, and you walk hand in hand with Jesus.
Study the Scripture to see how they the torah is applied in the
renewed covenant of Jesus. In Mt Sinai times, the covenant teachings
were more for community. The people were a national assembly of
people. Today some applications of those teaching may not apply
very well depending upon how large is your assembly, and on how
afflicted your national community is by Government control.
DISCUSSION: The long study of over 350 verses
starts here. And is very interesting. Discussion comments in text.
