Amish Style Gardening

Q4: Welcome to Amish Style Gardening.

July 26 - middle of winter - light frost last night 0.4 degrees C.

Sand placed on composting material to make artifical soil less hard.

Using straw to make soil is better than natural soil.

  • Collect organic matter (straw) hopefully with good metals in it?
  • Less toxic metals go into the new made soil - hopefully the plants do not uptake many toxic metals?
  • Lighter fluffy soil for new potato growing medium.

    Sand in all metal boxes for next year - March

    Lucerne patch was not good. I could not sow the light seed out.

    Need a 1kg amount, mix with sand and hopefully spread the 20m by 10m area.

    Might turn the area into wire netting for pumpkins and melons?

    Inside the veggie shed, the potatoes are hit by light frost.

    Tomatoes also hit by light frost.

    Beans also.

    Exotic potatoes also hit.

    Onions transplanted here.

    Sand also in big beds for corn in September.
