STEPS TO JESUS Q5: Where is "Getting started" found in the Bible ? De 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. This is the only way to getting started in Jesus. Romans 10:9 uses only the Old Testament method of salvation. Some say the New Covenant is a brand new method of getting started in Jesus. No, as you see, this method started way back even in the days Moses wrote these words. The New covenant is really a renewed covenant. And the getting started method of being saved by Jesus has never changed since the days Adam and Eve sinned. Its the same old way, just renewed by Jesus and His death on the cross. Jesus' death on the cross has changed the empowerment of powers to the sinner as the renewed covenant shows us, but the method of salvation has never changed, since the days of eternity, long before any unfallen being ever sinned. In fact salvation is only found in the Old Testament, the only scriptures Jesus had to read as a boy and the Son of man on earth. The New Testament are really the testimonies of Jesus, eyewitness accounts of new empowerment. So even as a child getting started in Jesus is a story of relationships from Old Testament scriptures towards New Testament scriptures. As we read Scripture, we have to be like little children. Shalom.
