| Q12: 19. At Jacob's Well.. Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..
(1) The religion with : no Name.. The hatred between Jews and Samaritansprevented the woman from offering a kindness to Jesus; but the Saviour was seeking to find the key tothis heart, and with the tact born of divine love, He asked, not offered, a favor. The offer of a kindnessmight have been rejected; but trust awakens trust. The King of heaven came to this outcast soul, askinga service at her hands. He who made the ocean, who controls the waters of the great deep, who openedthe springs and channels of the earth, rested from His weariness at Jacob's well, and was dependentupon a stranger's kindness for even the gift of a drink of water.The woman saw that Jesus was a Jew. In her surprise she forgot to grant His request, but tried to learnthe reason for it. "How is it," she said, "that Thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a womanof Samaria?" Jesus answered, "If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give Me to drink;thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water." Jesus now abruptly turned the conversation. Before this soul could receive the gift He longed tobestow, she must be brought to recognize her sin and her Saviour. He "saith unto her, Go, call thyhusband, and come hither." She answered, "I have no husband." Thus she hoped to prevent allquestioning in that direction. But the Saviour continued, "Thou hast well said, I have no husband: forthou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly." Here is declared the same truth that Jesus had revealed to Nicodemus when He said, "Except a man beborn from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3, margin. Not by seeking a holymountain or a sacred temple are men brought into communion with heaven. Religion is not to beconfined to external forms and ceremonies. The religion that comes from God is the only religion thatwill lead to God. In order to serve Him aright, we must be born of the divine Spirit. This will purify theheart and renew the mind, giving us a new capacity for knowing and loving God. It will give us awilling obedience to all His requirements. This is true worship. It is the fruit of the working of the HolySpirit. By the Spirit every sincere prayer is indited, and such prayer is acceptable to God. Wherever asoul reaches out after God, there the Spirit's working is manifest, and God will reveal Himself to thatsoul. For such worshipers He is seeking. He waits to receive them, and to make them His sons anddaughters. Notice SOP does not Name the religion of GOD, because GOD does not name things. So the love GOD offers to humans in relationship, has no Name as a Noun, but in Hebrew as a verb, this word Hebrew means to cross over. Cross over from what ? From the Hebrew word "baal", a Hebrew word meaning "master", a person who powers their own soul using their own human powers... (Actually people who empower themselves with human powers are selfishly using the broken relationship of GOD, and pretending the human is the owner of their own destiny and their own powers.) Many of us live and grow thinking humans own their own living, and hence their own characters. We grow up assuming sin is something we do wrong, a transgression of the Moral Law. Thus the fault lies with the human, who breaks a moral law of behaviour. Such notions are supported by the Holy Writings, if we transgress or trample the relationship like a wicked person does, but for a person seeking God's love knows there is a missing relationship of partnered power. For more about this, see the two stage definitions of sin and the way the SOP agrees with this definition of sin. Sin is missing powers from a relationship, not something moral laws alone can define. Pride is the first important missing a person can do because pride is the walking away of one person relative to another person, thus pride opposes relationship. Selfishly such people develop their own characters, as if they are owners of themselves. Rather we are stewards of God's power, partners of His love, and never owners of anything. Many say the only thing we take to heaven from earth is our "character". They assume ownership of something they see as a noun. Actually "character" is not owned by us, "character " is a verb that is processed by you clinging to GOD's character... the only thing you take to heaven is "RELATIONSHIP" and this is not owned by you because a "relationship" is a partner of two or more beings...hence we never own anything, not even our own minds...or decisions...such decisions of love... are always based on powers of relationship... The Holy Spirit is referenced on earth as "wind" but this is not ordinary wind. Such a Hebrew word is also used to reference "spirit" or the "character of God" and the "character of man". Thus there is no separate word for "character" because "character" is formed continually by "Relationship" with the "Holy Spirit" who administrates in us the powers of love from GOD. So our workings and our fruit are actually the workings of GOD. The Hebrew word for Father is also the Hebrew word for fruit, thus our fruits in us are actually the works of our Father in us...so we never own anything when we have a relationship with GOD. We are a partner of the working of the Holy Spirit who administrates the powers of the Father in us, via our Saviour Jesus Christ, and thus our "spirit" is actually a divine gift that is from GOD. We take to heaven from this earth, a small part of GOD with us, made by us when we partnered with GOD's love in us...in fact mankind was made in the image of "elohiym" such a priviledge we become like GOD and become like GOD in terms of character, because love is relational, based on relationship. During the breath of life, as humans we were alive because of the daily continual presence of GOD, but when Adam sinned this caused the relationship to be broken, but not severed completely...this is why sin is defined in Hebrew as "chata" or "missing". The relationship still remains but it is missing the powers of GOD, hence why we die...which is the total separation of GOD from Man, thus when GOD totally leaves us, the dust no longer abides in living, and falls into chaos... Even the very atom requires the presence of GOD for it's continued daily existence, as the quantum of movement is a power from the Father's zero point energy, a mystery that physics tries to examine... The partnered relationship that is found missing and broken cannot claim salvation by following the teachings of love taught by Jesus in the OT, which translators translate as "law". The broken partnered relationship is already broken, and once broken, GOD cannot forgive or restore relationship that easily... The reason why is because the missing causes a rift between relationship and to keep the relationship going the medium properties of the Holy Spirit are required to shadow the sinner so the missing does not cause them to die completely in sleep...indeed true separation of GOD causes eternal non-existance... When Jesus experienced the "Separation of the Father and the Holy Spirit" Jesus experienced the second death which all who refuse relationship will experience...but while Jesus "died" his body did not decay because his own divinity remained in such a body keeping the body from falling into chaos... Ps 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. However, the separation of the Father and the Holy Spirit had to be complete, otherwise the second death experience could not happen. This proves Jesus is divine and pre-existed and is able to restore relationships in us that are broken. Jesus can abide in us, and repair the broken relationship, and partner us back to the Father again, as if the relationship was never broken in the first place...what a GOD we serve !!! Praise Jesus for restoring our partnered relationship with Him. The relationship of Jesus in us continues daily for eternity, thus we are always in debt to our Saviour who is rescuing us from chaos daily by His presence, our partnered relationship continues for eternity as long as we remain married to Jesus... This is why there is no marriage in heaven or given in marriage because the saints are already married to Jesus and have a complete relationship of love already...Jesus comes to every gender male and gender female as maleness love or femaleness love, such loving is complete in Jesus for all personalities that are married to Him. We become the Family of God literally and spiritually...we need not worry about things in heaven, we need only cling to relationship and remain abiding in Jesus' hand. Shalom (2) The rain waters the : SEED.. And an unseen agency, even anomnipotent power, had worked silently but effectually to produce the harvest. The dew and rain andsunshine of God's grace had been given, to refresh and nourish the seed of truth. Christ was about towater the seed with His own blood. His disciples were privileged to be laborers together with God.They were coworkers with Christ and with the holy men of old. By the outpouring of the Holy Spirit atPentecost, thousands were to be converted in a day. This was the result of Christ's sowing, the harvestof His work.In the words spoken to the woman at the well, good seed had been sown, and how quickly the harvestwas received. The Samaritans came and heard Jesus, and believed on Him. Crowding about Him at thewell, they plied Him with questions, and eagerly received His explanations of many things that hadbeen obscure to them. As they listened, their perplexity began to clear away. They were like a people ingreat darkness tracing up a sudden ray of light till they had found the day. But they were not satisfiedwith this short conference. They were anxious to hear more, and to have their friends also listen to thiswonderful teacher. They invited Him to their city, and begged Him to remain with them. For two daysHe tarried in Samaria, and many more believed on Him. Notice the SOP talks about SEED, being watered by Jesus blood and growing inside people producing a produce of harvested love because the people want to love. This is exactly the correct object lessons of grace growing inside all of us when we receive the Seed of Jesus.The Holy Writing speak of this figure more than any other. (3) Human religion is made : COMPLEX.. The Pharisees despised the simplicity of Jesus. They ignored His miracles, and demanded a sign thatHe was the Son of God. But the Samaritans asked no sign, and Jesus performed no miracles amongthem, save in revealing the secrets of her life to the woman at the well. Yet many received Him. Have you ever noticed man loves to make things complex and worded with words.But the true religion of GOD is profound and simple that even a child can understand it. Ps 131:1 LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me Let's keep things simple, but not simpler. Let's make a child like faith in Jesus come with child like words that are easy to grasp. And let's not worry about describing things with words. For example...when we break the relationship with GOD, our hand in His hand departs and we become all alone :- Consider yourself as a point in space. This is a math's lesson about a point. A point cannot be defined because it has no directions relative to it.So a person on their own like this point, is pointless because you have no directions in your life, you are all alone.Without GOD and without direction. Ps 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous (tsadaq) "straight" altogether (yachad) "together". In this verse the truth of GOD is straight and comes together. The only way truth can come together in a straight line, is for a relatonship (of two points) to form. Ps 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned(chata) "missed", and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified (tsadaq) "straightened" when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Notice when you connect your hand to the hand of Jesus, your relationship was once missing, now suddenly becomes straight, and it is GOD's truth that becomes straight...not you alone...the relationship becomes straight... Ro 5:16 .. for the judgment was by one to condemnation,... This word is used only three things in the NT and refers to a court room decision, causing a change of how our earth is governed or ruled. Satan claims to be a ruler over us since Adam's fall, hence our lives are crooked. Ro 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many are "ruled" (kathistemi) sinners (hamartolos), so by the obedience of one shall many (kathistemi) "be ruled" (dikaios) "straight". Here the Author has made this verse read correctly. Under Satan since the fall humans are ruled as sinners...in other words we become sinners from birth...but if we cross over from Satan as a ruler to Jesus as a ruler, we are ruled straight by Jesus.How simple such a verse makes understanding the original sin of Adam, and what it really means. We do NOT inherit Adam's sin, we inherit only the consequences of his sin. See a NT study of "kathistemi" to see the word really means to "rule". If you ever play around with maths or science, such notions describing God's creations seem complex and baffling, but eventually the equations God engineered make all things become really simple.This is the way GOD is...salvation is simple and easy to understand...even a child with child like faith can understand the way relationship works. The worker for Christ should notfeel that he cannot speak with the same earnestness to a few hearers as to a larger company. There maybe only one to hear the message; but who can tell how far-reaching will be its influence? It seemed asmall matter, even to His disciples, for the Saviour to spend Page 195 His time upon a woman of Samaria . But He reasoned more earnestly and eloquently with her than withkings, councilors, or high priests. The lessons He gave to that woman have been repeated to the earth'sremotest bounds. As soon as she had found the Saviour the Samaritan woman brought others to Him. She proved herselfa more effective missionary than His own disciples. The disciples saw nothing in Samaria to indicatethat it was an encouraging field. Their thoughts were fixed upon a great work to be done in the future.They did not see that right around them was a harvest to be gathered. But through the woman whomthey despised, a whole cityful were brought to hear the Saviour. She carried the light at once to hercountrymen. Jesus spent more time speaking salvation to this women, than He did for many others.Every soil, even one, is important to Him. You are special, Jesus is even interested in you. When your hand connects to the hand of GOD, there are two points in space and suddenly a straight line appears because only two points are required for straight lines.This word straight is often translated by translators as righteous. Notice you do not become straight, it is the relationship that becomes straight.
If you introduce a relationship of three points, which is what happened when Adam sinned, there came into the relationship Satan as a ruler over mankind.
