Q6: Does the New Testament torah replace the Old Testament torah? Hypothesis:Is the New Testament torah a brand new torah of salvation, or is the Old Testment simply a renewed setting of the Old Testament, regarding the torah of salvation? Introduction: Many people say they live by the New Testament torah of salvation saying the old Testament torah of salvation written down on Mount Sinai, is outdated. If GOD is love, than it stands to reason that the torah of salvation is based on love. This would mean that there should be no difference between the New Testament torah of salvation and the Old Testament torah of salvation. We would expect changes to the application principles of love from the Mt Sinai days and after the Cross, for Jesus did say new wine needs new wineskins. He was speaking of the wine (a symbol of doctrines for salvation) in renewed settings. Let's look at the commandments of Jesus and see if there really are brand new or simply the renewal of older commandments of love. Method: There is an interesting Bible text: Eccel. 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. There are over 1000 torah teachings in the NT and over 1000 torah teachings in the OT. On the balance of probabilities, only the first 200 of the torah teachings in the NT will be studied. From this test we can safely assess the hypothesis on the basis of these 200 torah teachings, placed on two webpages for the reader to study. Conclusion: There is a remarkable parallel between the torah in the NT and the torah in the OT, they are essentially the same except for new applications of love. On the balance of probabilities, one can conclude the torah of Jesus for salvation is ALL the torah in the OT and ALL the torah in the NT.
