Ceremonies of formalism, Misapprehending the Scriptures, value in symbolic service, forgetting Jesus daily, neglecting vital components of the circuit

Q2: Ch:8: The Passover visit

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) Ceremonies of formalism..

The Passover was followed by the seven days' feast of unleavened bread. On the second day of thefeast, the first fruits of the year's harvest, a sheaf of barley, was presented before the Lord. All theceremonies of the feast were types of the work of Christ. The deliverance of Israel from Egypt was an object lesson of redemption, which the Passover was intended to keep in memory. The slain lamb, the unleavened bread, the sheaf of first fruits, represented the Saviour. With most of the people in the days of Christ, the observance of this feast had degenerated into formalism. But what was its significance to the Son of God!

The feasts were gatherings, to help "saved people" partake in object lessons concerning Jesus' salvation on His people; had degenerated in terrible formalism.Today our churches say all such ceremonies was abolished at the Cross, so today our churches of love have become stagnant gatherings of apathy. On Ceasing Day, we cease from doing anything at all, but worship to GOD, which by itself is maleness love providing itself selfishly. Our circuit of love is not complete and our love feast gatherings have become mere formalism.

Seventh Day Adventists are confused by presentations of Walter Veith and Doug Batchelor, such as this U tube video "Jesus in the Feast Days - Amazing Facts" by Doug Batchelor, Everlasting Gospel presentations. "He says the feasts allow us to come to Jesus, and once we come to Jesus we no longer need the feasts, Jesus is the fulfilment of that, you don't need to be kissing the photograph when the individual is in front of you" Later on Doug says "we keep the feasts spiritually" and he is correct, but in actual fact Seventh Day Adventists do not really have much regard for feast keeping: "object lessons of Jesus".

When we finally meet Jesus face to face will we stand beside him face to face as Doug implies? Or will we as Mary did, sit at Jesus feet, wiping His feet with our tears of joy..this is an object lesson of humility and worship...You see object lessons do have value and meaning...they tell us how to relate to Jesus, the feasts tell us how to get ready for meeting Jesus in the future...we do have another future coming of Jesus don't we? So why arn't we getting ready to meet Jesus face to face?

(2) Misapprehending the Scriptures..

They would not admit that they had misapprehended the Scriptures they claimed to teach. From one to another passed the inquiry, How hath this youth knowledge, having never learned? The light was shining in darkness; but "thedarkness apprehended it not." John 1:5, R. V

Jesus never went to human schools of university to gain Scripture scholarship, Jesus learning of The Holy Writings came from the Holy Spirit who was His teacher. And from a relationship of "torah teachings", the Holy Spirit and His Father, Jesus would become our Teacher of all great truths. So if you wish to "yada" or "know" Jesus, you have to daily drink and eat His WORDS. Jesus is the WORD, and by eating His words of torah, we are watered by His former and latter rains, the OT and NT torah teachings of Scripture.

Seventh Day Adventists scholars are confused by human educational wisdom and traditions, saying the term "torah" means the first five books of the Bible, but the Holy Writings do not agree with this human definition at all. The term "torah" commonly translated "law" in English, which is wrong; actually means "teachings", as Sola Scriptoria shows:-

2Ch 15:3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching "yarah" priest, and without law "torah".

Why parallel "teaching" with "law" is the Holy Writings about lawyers teaching law? or about teachers teaching teachings? Have we become so blind by human educational scholarship ? Here is what the verse should say:-

2Ch 15:3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching "yarah" priest, and without teachings "torah".

Here is another verse, and I translate the Greek word "graphe" as "writings" because Jesus spoke about the "writings"...there is no Hebrew word or Greek word for "Scripture"...the correct term is writings...

Jos 24:26 And Joshua (Jesus) wrote these words(writings) in the book(scroll) of the law (teachings) of God,...

Notice Jesus wrote the writings in the teachings of GOD.... does this say added the writings to the scroll ? no, but wrote the writings in the teachings...so Joshua is a 6th book, while humans traditions say "torah" is only the first five books of the Bible, shows you how wrong such thinking of human definitions really is...

Better to follow sola scriptora...so "torah teachings" is the correct term every time you see "law" in an English translation...

But many today misapprehend the Scriptures by not reading Jesus words at all, we are deceived into thinking our "English words of translation" are Jesus WORDS in the original Hebrew. That is like kissing a bride behind a veil. That is like reading Scripture by candlelight, like seeing darkly.

The American Standard Version translates for John 1:5 that "the darkness apprehended it not". Darkness takes the light the wrong way.

Areas of darkness are made by objects of you, blocking the light, and making shadows of your sinning, or your travellings with GOD's light.

However if you face towards the light of Jesus and concentrate on the WORDS of Jesus, the darkness is not preceived by you and is banished because light even covers over our sinning records !Amazing there is a sin-offering not unto death, found only in Jesus light covering our sins.

Science tells us there are only two types of shadows of darkness,

  • (1) completely dark shadows (umbra) and
  • (2) light covered shadows (pre-umbra).

By allowing a correct reading of Jesus and His WORDS into our mind, His light covers over our sinning, and we become like Jesus.

Turning back to fight with your shadows of sinning makes the darkness worse, turn instead into the fight of faith seeing Jesus as the light of your soul.

How amazing SOP is is making Scripture come alive and passionate to us readers of Scripture.

    (3) Value in symbolic service..

There was virtue in the symbolic service only as it directed the worshipers to Christ as their personal Saviour. God desired that they should be led to prayerful study and meditation inregard to Christ's mission.

Jesus said in his renewed covenant, that His symbols of His grace are in renewed settings like new wine in new wine skins. As SOP says there "was virtue in the symbolic service" because it directs the attitude of gratitude of the redeemed for their Redeemer. Did the early Christian churches make a renewed approach to feasts to Jesus?

    Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

SOP takes this term "love feast" to mean a gathering of the redeemed unto their Redeemer, which is no different to the OT "love feasts". However in the same verse it talks of those who loved with mere legalism and formalism.

How SOP sees the term "love feast" ?

    (4) Forgetting Jesus for one day..

As Jesus had been separated from her, and she had sought Him sorrowing three days, so when He should be offered up for the sins of the world, He would again be lost to her for three days. And as He should come forth from the tomb, her sorrow would again be turned to joy. By one day's neglect they lost the Saviour; but it cost them three days of anxious search to find Him. So with us; by idle talk, evil speaking, or neglect of prayer, we may in one day lose the Saviour's presence, and it may take many days of sorrowful search to find Him, and regain the peace that we have lost

There are many who believe one can be married to a Person and communication with them haphazardly..Is this true love ? If you do not daily eat food and drink water and refresh your energy daily in the Father's love, how can you claim to be growing well in Jesus' salvation of grace? However a tree can and does at times survive for periods without water and food, but during these times the trees suffer stress. The SOP says by seeking Jesus dailywe will not lose that Peace we have in Him.

Nu 28:24 After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

In this verse in symbolic service poetry pictures the redeemed offer to the Redeemer every day ofthe week, the Scripture meat of Sacrifice, with the saving savour of Jesus in it, such salvation is sought continually "tamiyd", which is a daily sacrifice of the mind yielding our will to Jesus.

    (5) Neglecting vital components of the circuit..

Many attend religious services, and are refreshed and comforted by the word of God; but throughneglect of meditation, watchfulness, and prayer, they lose the blessing, and find themselves moredestitute than before they received it. It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit. If we would be saved at last,we must learn the lesson of penitence and humiliation at the foot of the cross.

There are many components which enhance the circuit of love that comes from GOD...It is strongly recommended the reader study these components in Scripture:

  • mediation (filling your mind with Jesus words) Ps 63:6

  • watchfulness ( discerning the signs & times) Eph 6:18, Ps 130:6

  • prayer ( claiming power from Jesus' Words) 1Th 5:17

  • fasting (increasing our prayers of power ) Mt 17:21

  • Sabbath time ( for redemption in others) Mt 12:10

Many of us do not play around with the Science of Salvation. We need to experiment more with the power of GOD. Learn how it works and under what conditions. We need to pray for others in Jesus Name of power, and seek the faith that such prayers require.

For most of us empowered by human powers of our own Masterful ways, we are steeped in pride, which is an attitude that opposes GOD. Thus for most of us, we cannot perceive GOD until we are humbled in His presence.

Only as we become humble, mournful, meek and hungry for Jesus will be become filled with His Spirit. Than we will want to share His fruits with others in redemptive service, completing the circuit of love.

Understand what resistance, inductance and capacitance means in figures for salvation, and seek GOD powerfully through whatever poetry pictures you understand. Study the vital components in Scripture so that none of us are lacking in the power of Jesus in our lives.
