Q42: 49. At the Feast of Tabernacles

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) Anniversaries for Jesus

Three times a year the Jews were required to assemble at Jerusalem for religious purposes. Enshroudedin the pillar of cloud, Israel's invisible Leader had given the directions in regard to these gatherings.During the captivity of the Jews, they could not be observed; but when the people were restored to theirown land, the observance of these memorials was once more begun. It was God's design that theseanniversaries should call Him to the minds of the people.

Le 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest,

Notice the Sabbath is a Sabbath (shabath) of rest(shabbathown) , or in other words a "ceasing holiday" because the weekly "ceasing Day" is an anniversary of Jesus redeeming us.

Ex 20:8 Remember the sabbath day,

The "ceasing day" is special each week and we are to remember it, because it is a memorial day.

But as the SOP says, so are these other memorials at appointed times.

So why do most churches, including my own, say the memorials of meeting Jesus at certain times was abolished on the Cross?

If you read through the whole chapter of Colossians 2, something clearly was abolished....

Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;

  • Col 2:20 ... are ye subject to ordinances (dogmas...human rules),
  • Col 2:22 ...after the commandments (entalma) "human laws" and doctrines (didaskalia) "human requirements" of men?
  • Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you...regarding "memorial times"

    What is clear from this chapter is the "jews" imposed hundreds of rules upon "memorial times" that such things were a burden.

    Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come...

    How do you make a shadow? You need Jesus or the Father's light, and an object to block the light. Such an object cannot be you directly, because you would perish in their presence. The Holy Spirit can do this on our behalf, and so we live in Jesus, under the wings of the Holy Spirit.

    Ps 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High "functional name for Father" shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty(shadday) "proper name for the Holy Spirit".

    Here is the dwelling under the shadow of Our Father.

    Ps 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings...

    Notice the reference to "his wings"... does the Father have "wings like a bird" ? Some say the Shadday is another way of saying Father... than the Father is also the Holy Spirit as a force ?No, such notions are wrong, because the Holy Spirit expresses femaleness-love and the Holy Spirit functions as a bird with "her wings"... so why does it say "his wings" ?Well whose light is causing the shadow ? The Father. So the Holy Spirit is only functioning as an agency for the Father, thus thus we dwell under the "shadow of his wings" is correctly said in Hebrew.

    And since we live on earth still, we come to Jesus, via the shadows of the Holy Spirit, which is a diluted form of Jesus' light covering over us. The Author does not see Jesus abolishing anything from His writings...some changes yes... but abolishing the memorials of Jesus...no...

    The Spirit of Prophecy says ...

    This feast was not only the harvest thank sgiving, but the memorial of God's protecting care over Israelin the wilderness. In commemoration of their tent life, the Israelites during the feast dwelt in booths ortabernacles of green boughs. These were erected in the streets, in the courts of the temple, or on thehousetops. The hills and valleys surrounding Jerusalem were also dotted with these leafy dwellings,and seemed to be alive with people.

    Notice the Jews were practiced a past event that their pioneers once experienced. Today we should practice living in tents in the forest, for an event called greater Jacob's Trouble, we are yet to experience.That is one reason for practicing the Feast of Tabernacles, and that is what the Big Camp experience is supposed to be about, except it has denegrated into formalism.

    Are we getting ready for greater Jacob's Trouble, when we have to flee our homes and live in the mountains wholly upon Jesus' care?

    (2) Amazing insights into Jesus

    He bore the flagon to the altar, which occupied a central position in the court of the priests. Here weretwo silver basins, with a priest standing at each one. The flagon of water was poured into one, and aflagon of wine into the other; and the contents of both flowed into a pipe which communicated with theKedron, and was conducted to the Dead Sea. This display of the consecrated water represented thefountain that at the command of God had gushed from the rock to quench the thirst of the children ofIsrael. Then the jubilant strains rang forth, "The Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song;" "thereforewith joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation." Isa. 12:2, 3.

    "If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said,out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." The condition of the people made this appeal veryforcible. They had been engaged in a continued scene of pomp and festivity, their eyes had beendazzled with light and color, and their ears regaled with the richest music; but there had been nothing inall this round of ceremonies to meet the wants of the spirit, nothing to

    satisfy the thirst of the soul for that which perishes not. Jesus invited them to come and drink of thefountain of life, of that which would be in them a well of water, springing up unto everlasting life.

    The priest had that morning performed the ceremony which commemorated the smiting of the rock inthe wilderness. That rock was a symbol of Him who by His death would cause living streams ofsalvation to flow to all who are athirst. Christ's words were the water of life. There in the presence ofthe assembled multitude He set Himself apart to be smitten, that the water of life might flow to theworld. In smiting Christ, Satan thought to destroy the Prince of life; but from the smitten rock thereflowed living water.

    Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock "tsuwr" in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock "tsuwr", and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Exodus 17:6. {TMK 23.1}

    Joh 19:32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

  • 33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
  • 34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

    Where do es the SOP get it's amazing insights into the story figures of Jesus? Proof the SOP is inspired.

    Here is an eyewitness account put together by Ron Wyatt, who discovered the place of the skull, and the ark of the covenant under the place where Jesus was crucified, where a crack acting like a pipe conducted the flow of water and wine (figures of blood) downwards unto the mercy seat of GOD, which was placed there in a cave all those years ago.Amazing stories. Amazing faith revealed. Amazing evidence.

    Many today scoff at the diggings by Ron Wyatt, a humble man of God. Noah's Ark which Ron Wyatt also found is a puzzle, and I feel people years ago made a replica of the boat because it was difficult to climb into the glacier peak where the real ark is found. This is just a theory of faith on my part, videos by Don Patton tell of the discovery so far of Noah's Ark much further up the mountain. Since Noah was a larger man than the Egyptian cubit measurements require, the Author suspects the Noah's Ark size will be much larger than the traditional Egyptian cubit, but it is today broken into three pieces by the glacier movements. There is enough evidence for GOD if you wish to seek for evidence, but it is also important that we support GOD in His words, rather than be like doubting Thomas, and require evidence for everything before we believe and take a stand for Jesus! Shalom my friend.
