Q26: 33. . . Who Are My Brethren?

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) The gradual process of : LIGHT..

It is not God that blinds the eyes of men or hardens their hearts. He sends them light to correct theirerrors, and to lead them in safe paths; it is by the rejection of this light that the eyes are blinded and theheart hardened. Often the process is gradual, and almost imperceptible. Light comes to the soul throughGod's word, through His servants, or by the direct agency of His Spirit; but when one ray of light isdisregarded, there is a partial benumbing of the spiritual perceptions, and the second revealing of lightis less clearly discerned. So the darkness increases, until it is night in the soul

1Ki 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

  • Ro 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
  • 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness,....(KJV)
  • Ac 8:29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

God comes into our conscience, as a still small voice, via the Holy Spirit, and all people hear this voice, even wicked people. But for those of us living in darkness, this tiny light, must be adhered to, in order to the light to gradually incease.

The process of the early morning work ofthe Sun of Righteousess is gradual...slow and with influence, does Nature awake to grow in it's warm rays.

We must catch the rays of light with our skin, seek the voice of GOD in our ears, and enjoy the presence of relationship in our soul.

    (2) The power from our : words..

It is dangerous to utter a word of doubt, dangerous to question and criticizedivine light. The habit of careless and irreverent criticism reacts upon the character, in fosteringirreverence and unbelief. Many a man indulging this habit has gone on unconscious of danger, until hewas ready to criticize and reject the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, "Every idle word that men shallspeak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

It is the work of the Holy Spirit, to bring us to GOD, by talking audibly as a still small voice in our consscience. We must learn to listen and not doubt. Nor criticize everything. Or find fault...

1Co 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong?

Fault finders is a terrible habit of careless criticism. Every ray of light comes to us straight, but for a fault finder such light is never straight enough. The work of others around them is always seen through the eyes of fault finding.

In a bed of roses in flower, such people see the thorns.

In a yard with a snake proof fence, such people worry still about snakes in the yard.

In a home where every physical need is supplied, such people still are not quite happy.

Why living in Eden such people would find something to complain about.

Fault finders become mind minders, they love control... they are victims of abuse... and grow abusive... A plant starved of space in a plastic pot becomes root bound and is not freed. When eventually freed cannot grow normally because of it's former condition, continues to grow thinking fault finding is normal.

Love is a relationship, and relationship is a risk.

There is a risk of rejection.

A risk of being dominated and over controlled.

So the abused refuses the risk of relationship...

Safer to find fault than risk joy in freedom...

So we defraud our brother...rather than bask in their love...

Ga 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

The cure for the fault finder is to show them a relationship fixed intently on Jesus, the definition of meekness...something genuine...demonstrate real Jesus flowing in relationship...not human powers of piety without relationship with the Divine.

Ga 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

When we have relationship, we experience real divine power, otherwise we have deception.

    (3) The process of : surrender..

When the soul surrenders itself to Christ, a new power takes possession of the new heart. A change iswrought which man can never accomplish for himself. It is a supernatural work, bringing asupernatural element into human nature. The soul that is yielded to Christ becomes His own fortress, which He holds in a revolted world, and He intends that no authority shall be known in it but His own.A soul thus kept in possession by the heavenly agencies is impregnable to the assaults of Satan. Butunless we do yield ourselves to the control of Christ, we shall be dominated by the wicked one.

The Spirit of Prophecy uses surrender and yield as the same process. The Hebrew word for this is subdue.

We have to allow GOD to subdue us. Written from the human side of relationship, we have to surrender to this process

Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted (hupotasso ) (subdued) "surrendered" themselves unto the righteousness of God.

This is the only NT verse that uses subdue , concerning our salvation.

Mic 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities (avon) "guilt" ; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Here GOD subdues our guilt, and places our sin-offerings into the depths of the sea. Praise GOD for His love !

    (4) The weed : factor..

We may leave off many bad habits, for the time we may part company with Satan;but without a vital connection with God, through the surrender of ourselves to Him moment bymoment, we shall be overcome. Without a personal acquaintance with Christ, and a continualcommunion, we are at the mercy of the enemy, and shall do his bidding in the end.

When Christians become "Christ like but without Christ" they are empowering the works of Jesus teachings using human power...we seem good...we have given up smoking...we stop drinkin g...we no longer look haughty... we become changed...but unless we daily surrender to Jesus, allowing GOD to subdue us, our soil in our soul will grow weeds...

Weeds are genetic propensities inherited by our epi-genetic habits of our parents before us...they are weeds of potential sinning, and what keeps such weeds at bay is divine relationship...

But without relationship, hence the Christian walks alone, the weed factor grows and slowly starves our powers to death...we become sinning again and again, until so desperate to reach out to Jesus in mercy...

This is why the Passover experience is called in Hebrew the "hopping day" because we humans hop between two opinions (1Kings 18:21 ), we hop between Jesus and our own human power...we "sit on the fence"... we do not daily connect to relationship... we walk alone with ourselves...we let self rein...

    Sometimes "people" are weeds...

2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

  • 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
  • 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

Paul's term "thorn in the flesh" is an idiom for "people who are a pain in the buttock". He was constantly attacked by Jews, his own people, who hated Paul's freedom of religion from legalism...and His gospel in Jesus...

It is also possible Paul had some weakness due to a genetic disease, from his use of the word "infirmities".

    (5) The people : factor..

These things made His path a thorny one to travel. So pained was Christ by the misapprehension in Hisown home that it was a relief to Him to go where it did not exist. There was one home that He loved tovisit,--the home of Lazarus, and Mary, and Martha; for in the atmosphere of faith and love His spirithad rest. Yet there were none on earth who could comprehend His divine mission, or know the burdenwhich He bore in behalf of humanity. Often He could find relief only in being alone, and communingwith His heavenly Father.

People can be our worst source of weeds, so we need kinder people, where we can find hope and peace and rest. Jesus also had such a human home for holistic health.

Jesus found peace with prayer to His heavenly Father, without people around, but in divine relationship. We need to find time to be alone from people, but immersed in divine relationship.

    (6) The heavenly family : factor..

He receives them as members of the heavenly family; He bids them call His Father their Father. Theyare His "little ones," dear to the heart of God, bound to Him by the most tender and abiding ties. He hastoward them an exceeding tenderness, as far surpassing what our father or mother has felt toward us inour helplessness as the divine is above the human.

Many do not consider Elohiym is a family, as humans understand the term family...yet GOD far surpasses our earthly father or mother...

Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

  • 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
  • 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

This is the only place in the Bible where Elohiym, is written as Father, Holy Spirit and Son, in context of a heavenly family.
