hardened heart, Pharoah

Q4:Why does GOD allow in Pharoah a hardened heart?

Ex 9:12 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses.

Why does Yahweh harden Pharaoh's heart ? Let's look back into the story..

From the book of Exodus chapter one, we see already clues to why Pharoah hardened his heart of his own doing..

Exodus 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. Ex 1:11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens.

Pharoah wants to kill baby boys but save baby girls in order to restrict their number of slaves increasing in Egypt. Later on Moses is adopted by Pharoah's daughter, and is later hated by Pharoah when Moses kills an Egyptian captain for afflicting a Hebrew slave. So Moses flees into the desert for many years.

Ex 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

It is interesting by this time, over some 40+ years have passed when Moses fled Egypt; that God can say Pharoah's heart will be hardened, even before Moses talks to Pharoah. How does God know this? God can see into the future. Pharoah had already left GOD and His power flowing in Pharoah's life was all self-powered; thus Pharoah thus became a symbol of those wicked. There is a problem with pride and humilty in a relationship. The more you come to a person filled with pride, the more pride they develop, unless they weakly listen to God's power squeaking in their life, they slowly are willing to become broken and humbled in time. But what happens often is the more GOD comes to the proud in relationship, the more stiff-necked and full of pride they become. Such people cannot be saved because they do not hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit in their conscience, and thus all potential for salvation in them is hopeless. They have reached the condition of unpardonable sinning, the Holy Spirit cannot reach them. Israelites who reached this condition were killed quickly by GOD or left to die in the desert, or as in the case of Pharoah, made into an example for God's glory. God would demonstrate salvation to those who are willing to cross over into renewed ongoing life, with anyone who wanted to come, both Hebrews and Egyptians. What is amazing about GOD's love is those who were rescued out of Egypt, were called stiff-necks and many were not saved because of their stubborn pride, nevertheless GOD called many, but few were eventually saved.
