Science of Faith

Q1: Theories of "faith"

Aren't theories and faith a contradiction ? No.

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is something that is not seen, a power not explained, but something one usesor can use safely, or hopes to use safely with specific purpose.

Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

We understand creation as seeing things as they exist from things that we could not see and thus did not exist. Atoms are things we can see. Electrons, protons and neutrons can be perceived under electron microscopes. But quarks and other sub atomic particles of quanta do not have solid edges and thus begin to exist as ideas in the world of quantum probability. Eventually the quantum particles cease to exist and travel as waves of energy.

Faith is an interesting word.

Faith is a power we use but do not fully know...

Faith is an understanding things not understood.

Faith is accepting things we do not fully understand.

Faith is understanding things that cannot be seen.

Faith is accepting evidence we cannot fully prove.

Faith is accepting we are lowly and will never understand everything there is to know, but we are comfortable with our little bits of knowledge and are willing to accept the little evidence we already have, hoping that what we already have is true, even though much more lies undiscovered.

(a) Electricity is a theory of faith. Electricity has some evidence and some faith, hence this power is a theory, because not everything is fully understood. Why are some particles charged negative and others positive ? Why does electricity move in one direction in a circuit as a slow speed of electrons but in the opposite direction in the circuit as a pulse of energy travelling at the speed of light ? What is electrical resistance and why does it occur ? Many people use electricity everyday switching on its mystery power at will without any thought to the faith they show in electricitiy travelling to do your service need. Often we lie in awe as electricity in lightning races across the circuit of the sky in torrents of godlike power and authority.

Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?Job 38:35 Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?

(b) Gravity is a theory based on faith. Scientists willingly call gravity a law because many thousands of experiments confirm gravity. Such confirmation tells us gravity is a known law rather than an unknown theory. However do we know all there is to gravity ? Why have scientists abolished the centrafugal force of motion and use angular momentum instead ? How do moving objects stay in circular orbits based on gravity alone ? Where does gravity come from ? Is gravity based entirely on the mass of the atom or based on some motion of particles within the atom ? Is gravity only ever a pulling force ? Does anti-gravity exist, a pushing force ? Isaac Newton wrote the laws of motion based on the constant uniformity of gravity. If gravity as a constant changes, so would the perception of motion and the laws of motion.

Ps 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Ps 19:6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

(c) Time is a theory based on faith. Many people see time as a fundamental constant along with space and mass. But time is relative to mass and space. The theory of relativity says time changes depending upon where time is referenced and who is measuring the time by whom. Speed changes time. Mass changes time. Quantum stretching of the universe affects time. GOD created time when the universe was created and filled with His presence.Time came into existance when matter roared into existance from theCreator's hand.

Hab 3:4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.De 32:7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations:Ge 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning was day one.Ge 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,....

Moses calls us to remember the days of old, the years of many generations. Why divide time into two categories , as six days of creation, and the normal years of one's lifespan ? Why does Genesis in 2:4 declare the generations of heaven and earth made in a day GOD created them ? How can you have a day referencing years of time ? Notice in Genesis 1:5 all translations do not translate the Hebrew faithfully, as "yom""echad" (day one). The meaning of echad is not first, but one or united. The Hebrew word "first" does exist and means comparing one event to another. The Creation day was day one, no time existed before this day, hence the Hebrew word order says this. The relativity of time has been in the Bible account since Moses wrote the Genesis account, and only since Einstein has the Hebrew made sense. Gerald Schroeder, a Jewish Scientist declares that billion of years and 6,000 years of time may be both correct as time is referenced differently depending where it is measured from. From earth we see time as billion of years when in fact from GOD's reference only thousands of years have actually passed. Yet both involve 24 hour days of time.

Scientists use faith all the time to make discoveries. Faith is everywhere.

A theory is an idea hypothesis about something we wish to study further that has already some foundation. People see theories as human ideas of fantasy based not upon truth or experimental authority. But this is not necessarily so. Human ideas can be dangerous, but not if they are inspired by GOD as revelations.

Pr 8:12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

Pr 10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Ro 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Some do not realize the Bible speaks of a conspiracy theory of politics headed by Satan, a secret society that conspires to deceive the entire world. Their theories of faith seek to destroy as many souls as they can.

Isa 8:10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. 11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

Eze 22:25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

How do we know our theories of faith stand before GOD as truth by the light we know ? How do we know our theories of faith are right ?

Isa 8:16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law ( torah teachings) among my disciples.

Isa 8:20 To the law ( torah teachings) and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Our theories of faith must be according to the theories of faith written before, as testimonies, by God's disciples, prophets and inspired persons.

Should theories of faith increase ?

Da 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Spiritual knowledge has increased. But the end of time there arises a famine for the WORD of GOD in the last days.

Am 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

So how do we measure new theories of faith to the already estabished old theories of faith written in the Bible by the disciples as testimonies ?

Isa 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

By comparing every line and precept in Scripture with every other line and precept, until the Sola Scriptora meaning is in harmony with new theories of faith. See studies on how the Bible says the Bible should be studied.

It is a joy to develop and defend our theories of faith in our LORD. Everyone should be entitled to their own theories of faith as long as you have a logical presentation and some evidence for it. As people we tend to stubbornly hold onto our theories of faith in the light of conflicting evidence against it. This is a natural thing called the tendency to resist change, but may also stem from our belief system inside that rises in self exaltation to resist changing from one ruler over us to another.

Many of us do not wish to increase our faith, or change our faith...we are safe with our level of faith, and are afraid of change. We become fearful to learn more. We refuse to grow.We are afraid that increasing our faith will spoil our current "world view" of things.

Mt 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

Is Jesus really a hard Lord ? No. So what was the problem with this man? He was afraid to grow. There are over 300 ways a gum tree grows as a Christian in Australia, all within the same one kind...Such variety is remarkable... that's why there were three groups of people in this parable, all with different levels of growing, each according to his growth rate (or talents). But all trees just like all Christians have some things in common :-

  • they begin as a babe (seed)
  • they grow (increase faith)
  • they drink water (increase Spirit)
  • they intake food (increase Jesus)
  • they make fruit (increase Father)

So pray that you will not be afraid. ..ask GOD to overcome your fears and your unbelief...Shalom

For a deeper understanding of "faith" based of course, only from reading the Holy Writings.
