Paul's battle for clean heart..

( 251 ) Pr 18:12 Before destruction the heart "leb" of man is haughty , and before honour is humility .

.. Before destruction the heart, mind ..

( 252 ) Pr 18:15 The heart "leb" of the prudent getteth knowledge ; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge .

.. heart, mind ..

( 253 ) Pr 19:3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way : and his heart "leb" fretteth against the LORD .

.. his way and his heart, mind ..

( 254 ) Pr 19:8  He that getteth wisdom "leb" loveth his own soul : he that keepeth understanding shall find good . {wisdom: Heb. an heart}

.. heart, mind ..

( 255 ) Pr 19:21 There are many devices in a man's heart "leb"; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD , that shall stand .

.. devices in a man's heart, mind ..

( 256 ) Pr 20:5 Counsel in the heart "leb" of man is like deep water ; but a man of understanding will draw it out .

.. heart, mind ..

( 257 ) Pr 20:9 Who can say , I have made my heart "leb" clean , I am pure from my sin ?

.. heart, mind .. Who can say I have my heart clean and pure from my sin-offering? The word here is chataah, not chata, the word for sin. Can human make their heart pure and clean by making a sacrifice through a sin-offering ? No. That's why the question was asked. Only Jesus can make such a sin offering, and thus only Jesus make our hearts clean and pure. But as we read somewhat difficultly in Paul the sin-offering we make can trip us up, if not fully followed through properly.

Ro 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin-offering that dwelleth in me.

This question is asked in Proverbs 20:9, can I make my heart pure and clean by my sin-offering ? No

We want to do good, but the sin-offering keeps making us do bad.

Ro 7:22 For I delight in the Torah of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another Torah in my members, warring against the Torah of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the Torah of sin-offering which is in my members.

Here is a battle of Torah teachings going on inside our minds, there are two Torah teachings spoken here, The Torah of Jesus and the Torah of the sin-offering.

Ro 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Paul speaks of the first Torah of the sin-offering from flesh, and the second Torah of Jesus from the Holy Spirit. Notice the origins of power have changed, but the teachings of either Torah remain the same.

Paul is speaking of the sin-offering made by human power, that pointed forward to Jesus, but nevertheless was a Torah of sin offering based on human powers of obedience. The second Torah of sin offering, is a Torah of God based on Jesus' powers of obedience. This Torah of sin-offering is more powerful and more complete than the first based on the flesh of sinful humans. The second is based on the flesh of a sinless human. Can you see the two sin-offerings Paul is talking about. The Jews reading Romans in their day were familiar with the Torah of the sin-offering, but they were new to the Torah of Jesus and the sin-offering He made for them.

Ro 8:3 For what the Torah could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sin-offering of flesh, and for a sin-offering, condemned sin-offering in the flesh:

Notice Jesus came in the likeness of a sin-offering of flesh, not as Scholars say Jesus came in sinful flesh, without sinning. No where does the Bible speak of inherited flesh as sinful, we are not born sinners. We become sinners by sinning. Our inherited flesh has a porpensity to sinning. Jesus was born with the same propensity to sinning too, but Jesus was not born of sinful flesh, whatever people mean by this term. It's an adjective for starters, and adjectives do not really exist in the Ancient Hebrew construct. A noun-noun construct may exist, showing us two completed actions. Jesus came in the likeness of a sin-offering of flesh. This means Jesus was born as our SIN-BEARER. And becoming a human sacrifice, Jesus body was broken for us sinners. His flesh was torn, cut and broken for sinners. Jesus died to set men free from the penalty of sinning. Jesus' flesh was pure and clean but became a sin-offering for sinners. O praise Him ! For such glorious cost for such a little mite like me. And because of His sin-offering for me, spiritual power flows through me. Which spiritual power ? The Father's spiritual power. It flows because of Jesus, administrated by the Holy Spirit, living in every human while Jesus our High priest resides in heaven near the Father to allow such a flow of the Father's power possible, into every sinner who is saved by the grace of Jesus ! Shalom

( 258 ) Pr 21:1 The king's heart "leb" is in the hand of the LORD , as the rivers of water : he turneth it whithersoever he will .

.. heart, mind ..

( 259 ) Pr 21:4  An high look , and a proud heart "leb", and the plowing of the wicked , is sin . {An...: Heb. Haughtiness of eyes} {the plowing: or, the light}

.. high look and a proud heart, mind ..

( 260 ) Pr 22:11  He that loveth pureness of heart "leb", for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend . {for...: or, and hath grace in his lips}

.. loveth pureness of heart, mind ..
