A guilty heart keeps God away..

( 151 ) Ps 57:7  My heart "leb" is fixed , O God , my heart "leb" is fixed : I will sing and give praise . {fixed: or, prepared}

.. .. heart, mind ..is fixed O God my heart, mind .. It's OK to say "NO" when friends ask you to party... Your heart is fixed...firm...not swayed by peer group pressure..

( 152 ) Ps 58:2 Yea, in heart "leb" ye work wickedness ; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth .

.. heart, mind ..

( 153 ) Ps 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart "leb" is overwhelmed : lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

.. will I cry unto thee, when my heart, mind ..

( 154 ) Ps 62:10 Trust not in oppression , and become not vain in robbery : if riches increase , set not your heart "leb" upon them.

.. increase set not your heart, mind ..

( 155 ) Ps 64:6 They search out iniquities ; they accomplish a diligent search : both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart "leb", is deep . {they...: or, we are consumed by that which they have throughly searched} {a diligent...: Heb. a search searched}

.. of every one of them, and the heart, mind ..

( 156 ) Ps 64:10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD , and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart "leb" shall glory .

.. him; and all the upright in heart, mind ..

( 157 ) Ps 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart "leb", the Lord will not hear me:

.. If I regard iniquity in my heart, mind .. If I have any guilt in my heart, the LORD will not hear me.. Guilt is the stuff of feelings we receive from sinning. So if we are sinning, we cannot hear the voice of Jesus. If we are entangled by our guilt, we cannot hear Jesus.

Some scholars, teachers, and Chrsitans use this verse to say if we are sinning, Jesus cannot answer prayers from those sinning. No the verse is not saying that.

Sinning is never a stumbling block for Jesus.

If we are entangled with guilt, we can't hear the still small voice of Jesus in the soul. Why can't we ? Because sinning produces guilt, and guilt is an entanglement of ropes around the soul, clockwise and counter - clockwise, so that our coming is going and our going is coming, and we are so confused we don't know why we are sinning, or where such sinning is going. We assume such sinning is fun, but deep down we know it's not fun at all. At most such sinning is a grazed fix, a drug like stupor for feelings. When your guilty in such entanglement, you cannot hear Jesus or the Holy Spirit speak to you, not because the sinning is too big, or the sinning too often, of the sinning too wilful, but because the guilt is binding you so hard, your trapped in self-remorse. There is a danger that in this condition, it leads to self-pity, and self-regard feelings of emptiness, that in our god-shaped vacume, we cry out for help...now we reach the end of our rope..our guilt while preventing us from hearing GOD, is so binding upon us, that we call on God to deliver us...God loves us when we are at the end of our rope, for now ONLY when human power is exhausted can divine power come and save the guilty soul from death.

There is a story of a strong swimmer watching intently at a soul in a river drowning and splashing frantically to stay alive above the water. A mother rushes to the strong swimmer, tugging on his arm, to enter and save her son in the river, but the boy replies cooly; "I can't save him yet, for his human powers will entangle me as well and we will both drown..." So the strong swimmer waits for the exact moment when all human power is gone and dives into the river, swimming masterfully fast, to save the lost from drowning..."

That my friend, is how Jesus via the Holy Spirit saves you from guilt, not while human effort is floundering to struggle, but when all human power is exhausted can GOD come and save you.

( 158 ) Ps 69:20 Reproach hath broken my heart "leb"; and I am full of heaviness : and I looked for some to take pity , but there was none; and for comforters , but I found none. {to take...: Heb. to lament with me}

.. Reproach hath broken my heart, mind ..

( 159 ) Ps 74:8 They said in their hearts "leb", Let us destroy them together : they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land . {destroy: Heb. break}

.. heart, mind ..

( 160 ) Ps 76:5 The stouthearted "leb" are spoiled , they have slept their sleep : and none of the men of might have found their hands .

.. heart, mind ..
