Hamor's eye pleased with desire

( 51 ) Ge 34:11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren , Let me find grace in your eyes "`ayin", and what ye shall say unto me I will give .

( 52 ) Ge 34:18 � And their words pleased "`ayin" Hamor , and Shechem Hamor's son .

..And their words pleased the eye of Hamor .. A strange context, the words make the eye sparkle with desire, like a reverse of Eve's sin, except this time it is done with sound rather than sight.

( 53 ) Ge 37:25 And they sat down to eat bread : and they lifted up their eyes "`ayin" and looked , and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh , going to carry it down to Egypt .

( 54 ) Ge 38:7 And Er , Judah's firstborn , was wicked in the sight "`ayin" of the LORD ; and the LORD slew him.

.. herself and sat in an eye place .. Possibly some fountain or spring place

( 57 ) Ge 38:21 Then he asked the men of that place , saying , Where is the harlot , that was openly "`ayin" by the way side ? And they said , There was no harlot in this place. {openly: or, in Enajim}

.. Where is the harlot that was eye ..

( 58 ) Ge 39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight "`ayin", and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house , and all that he had he put into his hand .

.. found grace in his eye ..

( 59 ) Ge 39:7 � And it came to pass after these things , that his master's wife cast her eyes "`ayin" upon Joseph ; and she said , Lie with me.

.. wife cast her eye upon Joseph ; and she said , Lie with me .. Joseph refers her request for it is forbidden by GOD..

( 60 ) Ge 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph , and shewed him mercy , and gave him favour in the sight "`ayin" of the keeper of the prison . {shewed...: Heb. extended kindness unto him}
