HYPOTHESIS: What does Faith mean?

Finally this word is used only once in the OT, and possibly means "pillar", a column that supports.

2Ki 18:16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

Notice the SOP supports Scripture with the words "tear down the pillars of our faith", is the same theme as Hezekiah cutting off the gold from the Sanctuary Pillars:-

Before the last developments of the work of apostasy there will be a confusion of faith. There will not be clear and definite ideas concerning the mystery of God. One truth after another will be corrupted.

After the truth has been proclaimed as a witness to all nations, every conceivable power of evil will be set in operation, and minds will be confused by many voices crying. "Lo, here is Christ; lo, He is there. This is the truth, I have the message from God, He has sent me with great light." Then there will be a removing of the landmarks, and an attempt to tear down the pillars of our faith. A more decided effort will be made to exalt the false sabbath, and to cast contempt upon God Himself by supplanting the day He has blessed and sanctified. This false sabbath is to be enforced by an oppressive law. From Maranatha - Page 193

Notice this picture concerning the pillars of the SDA faith:-

One of those "pillars of faith" is the Personalities of GOD and Christ, from "Ye Shall Receive Power" page 235:-

"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. Ephesians 2:20. YRP 235.1

  • Let not any man enter upon the work of tearing down the foundations of the truth that have made us what we are. God has led His people forward step by step though there were pitfalls of error on every side. Under the wonderful guidance of a plain, Thus saith the Lord, a truth has been established that has stood the test of trial. When men arise and attempt to draw away disciples after them, meet them with the truths that have been tried as by fire. YRP 235.2
  • And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee (Revelation 3:1-3). YRP 235.3
  • Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are not holding fast; they are not remembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary or concerning the personality of God or of Christ are working as blind men. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift without an anchor. YRP 235.4
  • Those who claim to be identified with the message that God has given us should have keen, clear spiritual perceptions, that they may distinguish truth from error. The word spoken by the messenger of God is Wake up the watchmen. If men will discern the spirit of the messages given and strive to find out from what source they come, the Lord God of Israel will guard them from being led astray.Manuscript Release 760:9, 10. Are we as assemblies of the SDA faith, removing the "pillars of faith" which our forefathers had, by making a public creed that no longer is the same as our old landmark?

" The Holy Spirit (5) God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, incarnation, and redemption. He is as much a person as are the Father and the Son. He inspired the writers of Scripture. He filled Christs life with power. He draws and convicts human beings; and those who respond He renews and transforms into the image of God. Sent by the Father and the Son to be always with His children, He extends spiritual gifts to the church, empowers it to bear witness to Christ, and in harmony with the Scriptures leads it into all truth. (Gen. 1:1, 2; 2 Sam. 23:2; Ps. 51:11; Isa. 61:1; Luke 1:35; 4:18; John 14:16-18, 26; 15:26; 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 5:3; 10:38; Rom. 5:5; 1 Cor. 12:7-11; 2 Cor. 3:18; 2 Peter 1:21.) 28 Fundamental Beliefs, 2015; SDA Church.

This massive increase in words since my baptism in the 1980's, causes me much concern, for much of this so called creed is no longer supported by Scripture. Whatever the SDA church means by saying the Holy Spirit is a "He", I don't know.

Such is an example of the "pillars of Church Faith" being destroyed in the latter rains. When Jesus comes in the Second Coming will He find Support on the earth?

    Q: (7) Summary

Major findings of the study of "faith":-

The physical food is a symbol of Jesus, who designed food to be eaten His way. The way we eat physical food is a simile of the way we eat spiritual food. The concept of prayer and fasting is designed by Jesus to improve how He lives in us.

The man Jesus is to be supported by humans, who uphold His words in prayer. A Divine Relationship daily flows when we support His Support.

The supportive nature of our support comes from the Teachings of Jesus; ie: the Words of Jesus, the Prayers to Jesus, and the Witnessing Jesus did in Person. But doing the teachings in your own human power, does not save you. Instead, when you support the Teachings of Jesus, through prayer, we hope for Words of unseen power to flow, so that the wonders of Jesus will work in us.

The "pillars of faith" that our Protestant fathers fought for, must be upheld.

Da 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.(KJV)

Da 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then shall the holy be straightened.(Ancient Hebrew)

During the time when this prophecy began, from 1844; Jesus straightened many "truths" in the times of the Reformation. Salvation was straightened by Luther, baptism was straightened by the Baptists, and the sanctuary message straightened by Ellen White. Such workers for Jesus were prophesized to come and make the "truth" holy again. There are many "pillars of our faith", and it is important we understand them correctly using Hebrew Sola Scriptoria.
