Jesus control of death

Q52: 59. "Priestly Plottings"

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) Jesus control of death

Through spies who had witnessed the miracle the Jewish rulers were speedily in possession of the facts.A meeting of the Sanhedrin was at once called to decide as to what should be done. Christ had nowfully made manifest His control of death and the grave. That mighty miracle was the crowningevidence offered by God to men that He had sent His Son into the world for their salvation.

If the miracle was wrought by supporting His Father' power in relationship, how does this really show Jesus the Father's Son? Could not any sinless human achieve a similar feat of power through prayer and faith? This question is not answered by the SOP. Indeed it is a mystery. Why did Jesus have to die for humans who have missed relationship?

    (2) A theory of faith about death

    And now the Lord of life and glory was dying, a ransom for the race. It was the sense of sin, bringing the Father's wrath upon him as man's substitute, that made the cup he drank so bitter, and broke the heart of the Son of God. Death is not to be regarded as an angel of mercy. Nature recoils from the thought of dissolution, which is the consequence of sin. {3SP 161.2}

Mr 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

  • 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

If humans were engineered (created) as living energy (soul) by a continual relationship with GOD (breath of life), we were already "married" to our Divine Creators. When Satan came to cause missing (sin) and thus break relationship (condemnation), all humans born have the potential (epi-genetics) to become sinners because our minds choose to sin. Our Father could not forgive us and allow a re-marriage of the sinners back to Him in relationship, for this act of re--marriage causes further adultery.

The only way to resolve this problem is for the "living energy" to non-exist and come back to life again as a "virgin relationship" married to the Divine Relationship without any form of missing. This feat could not be achieved by mortals because by becoming non-existant, how do we come back as living energy again, if we are already in a relationship that keeps us as "living energy"...? In other words if one gives up the relationship that causes living, one cannot receive relationship back again, because relationship is not something one partner in a relationship owns.

The only way around this problem is for TWO relationships to exist in an agent simultaneously, such a Being could add humanity to itself, thus have "human relationship of the Divine here", and also have "a Divine relationship with the Divine". This solution makes Jesus "pre-exist" because no sinless human could lay down a "human relationship" for the "sin-offering of the world" and live. If the Father comes over the "sacrificed sinless son" and brings him back to life again, we have an example of "adultery" here, for how can the "sinless human son" take upon himself the "sinning deeds" of the whole world, thus become broken in relationship, and yet come back to life again from becoming the "chief of sinners"?

Theories of faith that say Jesus never pre-existed would argue, Jesus did not actually become a sinner when dying upon the cross, hence the Father could bring back His Son from the grave. If that is possible, why have Jesus die for "sin-offerings" in the first place?

The question we have to ask is, Why did Jesus have to die for human broken relationship? If "living energy" comes from relationship with God as the "breath of life" administrated via the Holy Spirit, when mankind became a sinner, the relationship that sustains "living energy" is broken, and so daily daying mankind dies.

He must die the cruelest of deaths, lifted up between the heavens and the earth as a guilty sinner. He must pass long hours of agony so terrible that angels could not look upon it, but would veil their faces from the sight. He must endure anguish of soul, the hiding of His Father's face, while the guilt of transgression --the weight of the sins of the whole world--should be upon Him . EGW Plan of Redemption page 64.

Such a thought also existed by Martin Luther, before Ellen White wrote this.

"that Christ should become the greatest transgressor, murderer, adulterer, thief, rebel, and blasphemer, that ever was or could be in the world. (Luther on Galatians, Chapter 3:13, London Edition, 1838, pp. 213-215, as quoted by Albert Barnes, 2 Corinthians & Galatians, Barnes Notes on the New Testament, Grand Rapids: Baker, 1955, pp. 334-335).

Ga 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

  • De 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

There is only one Holy Writing verse for why Jesus had to die..

Ex 21:23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life (nephesh) "living energy" for life (nephesh) "living energy",

And since "living energy" is sustained by relationship, this verse is saying this...

Ex 21:23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give "eternal relationship" for "eternal relationship",

We have to understand, becoming "living energy" before GOD means our relationship with GOD was meant for eternity.

So a sinless human being, or sinless angel could not atone for a broken relationship with GOD by offering their own eternal relationship with GOD AND also live. They would have no relationship to rise from the grave. But a Being with two relationships could.

  • The problem is resolved if we consider Jesus having two relationships inside Him, whilest on the earth. When Jesus died for the "sin-offering" of the world, his sinless human flesh took upon himself all the sinning, sinners have packaged into their sin-offerings, and so the human relationship endured a broken relationship, literally and spiritually.

De 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

The membranes around the heart broke from sins He endured...such was the agony of His sacrifice...

Joh 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

The divine relationship with the divine also took a beating...The Father and the Holy Spirit both left their Son, causing the dissolution, of relationship and truly the second death came over Jesus, the relationship that causes loving ceased to exist for a time.

Ps 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Since no one partner within the Family of Elohiym owns "relationship" how does Elohiym function again, generating love? The Father and the Holy Spirit come back to their Son again after three days and three nights of the "second death" and Elohiym is able to functionally generate love again. The human relatonship that died under the sin-offerings of the world lies broken.

How does the 'human relationship" come back from "eternal condemnation" and "live eternally"?

There has to be an exchange of relationship for relationship, something of infinite cost to Elohiym has to be given up forever to allow this exchange of one relationship for the other relationship, and importantly this has to be achieved by Jesus Himself. The Father and the Holy Spirit have only Divine relationships, and have nothing but one relationship to offer. Jesus on the other hand has two relationships, and can give up one for the other.

Jesus gives up the expression of His Divine relationship, and raises Himself through the love generated within Elohiym, raises the human relationship added to Himself as a "virgin relationship" that endures forever. This is a transformation and the eternal living of that body comes from Jesus Himself, but the relationship of the Divine had to be fully restored first for this to happen.

Zec 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.(KJV)

The scars and wounds on Jesus' body are retained as brilliant examples of love for those who fall at His feet in admiration. So does Jesus have omnipresence like the Father and the Holy Spirit? No..Jesus is divine but His "divinity is encapsulated" inside a human body forever for us. O what Love came forth to love...

Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD(Father - YHWH) to bruise him "Jesus-YHWH"; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin (asham) "shame", he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

The Hebrew word "asham" means more "ashame", the feeling you have wronged, before such actions of wrong doing demonstrate this. Jesus took also our hidden shames of missing divine relationship. But what is important in this verse is the word "The Father (he) shall see his seed,", this is saying the Father sees His Son's Seed, meaning the Father does not engineer His Son's Seed, but sees His Seed.Inside Jesus while on the earth living as humans live, His divine Seed of divinity was never used to gratify self, such as act would be similar to humans in sin using their "baal master powers of self" to empower doing. Jesus only empowered His doing via supporting His Father's powers flowing through Him.But at the grave, exchanging His "eternal relationship" for sinners, He rises from the grave using the divine seeds of power within Himself, which He did not use as a human on earth, but now uses as the "raised human after the grave, Jesus rises from the grave as "divinity in humanity" rather than before the grave as "divinity through adding on humanity".

Does this not give us confidence we serve a risen LORD, who empowers us, and as a SEED dying for others, we the redeemed become seeds for Jesus, and continue the "family of love" for Him.

Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,(KJV)

In the OT the concept of Elohiym as a "family" could not truely exist, for the Son was not continuing the "Seeds of love" over many generations...but after the Cross, the Family of Elohiym does truly exist literally, because Jesus literally continues the "Seeds of Love" over many generati ons by becoming the SEED for sinners lost. What a profound mystery to experience the joy in learning more abut Jesus through His torah-teachings!
