Q21: 28. . Levi-Matthew.

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) Jesus is with us via the : Comforter.

After His ascensionHe was to be absent in person; but through the Comforter He would still be with them, and they werenot to spend their time in mourning. Desire of Ages, page 278

If Jesus is with us via the Holy Spirit, than it is Jesus who speaks to us as a "He" via the Holy Spirit.

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

  • 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Here is a classic example of how complex and baffling Elohiym power comes to us...why do we profess to know it all, and make public creeds? In the OT YHWH can refer to the Father or Jesus, so does it matter whom is whom? Here the Holy Spirit is an agency for the Father and the Son, coloured yellow, so how do we know whom is whom ? If you want to study whom is whom, as if this mystery really matters, when it becomes a public religious human creed of tradition it does matter, than consider this study here.

    (2) Teachings without Humanism.

Continuing His answer to the disciples of John, Jesus spoke a parable, saying, "No man putteth a pieceof a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that wastaken out of the new agreeth not with the old." The message of John the Baptist was not to beinterwoven with tradition and superstition. An attempt to blend the pretense of the Pharisees with thedevotion of John would only make more evident the breach between them.Nor could the principles of Christ's teaching be united with the forms of Pharisaism. Christ was not toclose up the breach that had been made by the teachings of John. He would make more distinct theseparation between the old and the new. Jesus further illustrated this fact, saying, "No man putteth newwine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shallperish." The skin bottles which were used as vessels to contain the new wine, after a time became dryand brittle, and were then worthless to serve the same purpose again. In this familiar illustration Jesuspresented the condition of the Jewish leaders. Priests and scribes and rulers were

    Page 279

fixed in a rut of ceremonies and traditions. Their hearts had become contracted, like the dried-up wineskins to which He had compared them. While they remained satisfied with a legal religion, it wasimpossible for them to become the depositaries of the living truth of heaven. They thought their ownrighteousness all-sufficient, and did not desire that a new element should be brought into their religion. The good will of God to men they did not accept as something apart from themselves. They connectedit with their own merit because of their good works. The faith that works by love and purifies the soulcould find no place for union with the religion of the Pharisees, made up of ceremonies and theinjunctions of men.

The Spirit of Prophecy says Jesus NT teachings is not new doctrine, but OT doctrine renewed without humanism.

The Holy Writings agree with this : Jesus is the former (OT) and latter (NT) rain.

De 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech (imrah "a figure of Jesus') shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass (' figure of Christians'):

  • Zec 10:1 Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
  • Ho 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

  • When you study the Holy Writings, there comes a time when your humanism comes into it, your experience with the Holy Spirit enlightens you, but in time there is a danger that your humanism takes over what Jesus teachings teach. And the further the relationship widens between you and Jesus, the more pronounced your humanism becomes until we have another religious cult of humanism based on traditions and customs of men. Sadly the Jews had developed another "bible of human commentaries" alongside the teachings of torah that Jesus told Moses to write. The humanism took over the teachings and eventually destroyed Jesus teachings in the OT...this is what Jesus developed in the NT, His OT teachings in renewed light without humanism.

    (3) Come out of Babylon: Confusion.

The Pharisees thought themselves too wise to need instruction, too righteous to need salvation, toohighly honored to need the honor that comes from Christ.

Ge 11:9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel (babel); because the LORD did there confound (balel) the language of all the earth:

Notice the Lord confused the language sounds, but preserved the language as a whole. Thus today we have a variety of languages and spellings and sounds, but we still have the universal language, which seems to be English, but is actually Hebrew.

For those who say, what's the big deal: consider this verse:-

Re 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a scroll written within and on the backside

Which language writes in the right hand (an idiom in Hebrew, having special meaning) ? Only Hebrew does... Notice this is written in a scroll in heaven...yes a vision of heaven...Some might say the vision corresponded to the person watching the vision..maybe..what language did GOD give to Adam ? What language is a universal language today ? English letters are actually Ancient Hebrew letters !!

See Ancient Hebrew are English letters

    See Ancient Hebrew

See Ellen White wrote Hebrew meanings

So when we read our Bibles in any translation, the words are confused, and we read in Babylon because of fuzzy translations. We are trusting the translator to bring us God's truth, but it is locked in the Hebrew, but we do not understand this.We trust humanism to bring us truth, we look up dictionaries of humanism, like Strong's rather than read the Hebrew ourselves, and allow the Hebrew to tell us what the Hebrew means... this is what reading line upon line means...this is how we should read our Holy Writings...

Doesn't the Holy Writings say to "come ou t of Babylon, my people" (Revelation 18:4), at the end of time?

So how can we come out of confusion, unless we take the time to read the Bible words correctly in Hebrew?

This is NOT hard to do. We do not have to understand Hebrew, nor speak the dead language, nor become a scholar. No. We simply need to make sure we have the WORD of JESUS understood correctly.

Ps 12:6 The words(imrah) of the LORD (Father-YHWH) are pure words(imrah): as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times

The "imrah" is Jesus personified as the "words of the Father", notice Jesus is purified seven times in the furnace for us, for salvation in through Him.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (imrah), and the Word (imrah) was with God (elohiym), and the Word (imrah) was God (elohiym).

The Author adds "imrah" to the Greek word "logus" here to show what John had in mind. John was a Jew and the Jews had a special meaning for "imrah". This word meant Jesus as the Word.

The same idea is a poetry picture of manna coming down from heaven in Hebrew manna is "man", a figure of the "man of Jesus" which Israel ate in the desert.

How exciting to find gold in our Bibles, to dig for the treasures of Jesus, and apply such wonders to our heart ! Shalom

    (4) Jesus taught no new doctrines.

In the untutored fishermen, in the publican at themarket place, in the woman of Samaria, in the common people who heard Him gladly, He found Hisnew bottles for the new wine. The teaching of Christ, though it was represented by the new wine, was not a new doctrine, but therevelation of that which had been taught from the beginning.

Many churches abolish the entire OT teachings of Jesus and instead use only the NT teachings of Jesus. Some churches use only the OT teachings of Jesus. Many of us are confused because we do not understand "torah" often translated "law" actually means "teachings".

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures (gramma), which are able to make thee wise unto salvation (soteria) through faith which is in Christ Jesus (Iesous).

Why do translators translate "gramma" as Scriptures when it really means "writings" ? Are they really helping the reader?

Ro 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter (gramma) "writings".

Some theories of faith say the entire writings are abolished and we live in the renewal of the Holy Spirit of Jesus... sounds logical, but is this what this verse is saying? The teaching of Jesus in writings were to help sinners gain victory from missing relationship with GOD... was written for us and for Jesus who would live for us and do what we could not do. Now that He has done what we could not do, in the writings of Jesus, do we now not need the writings of Jesus? Some say we no longer live under shadows of Jesus, we have Jesus the person in our hearts via the Holy Spirit.

Mr 4:32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

When we sow the tiniest seed of Jesus by faith, and He grows into the largest of herbs in our garden, why does Jesus say many come to lodge under His shadow? and enjoy His cooling?

Only in heaven, face to face, will the shadows of Jesus vanish and we see Him brighter than our earthly Sun...but until then reading His teachings helps us to appreciate Jesus, as we walk as He walks and talk as He talks and do as He does i n us. Our works in Jesus teachings do not save us, but the writings do help us personify Jesus to us, so we can see and hear and do as Jesus did. The writings are a tutor to bring us to Jesus every day.

Now notice when we add Hebrew to the NT writings:-

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures "writings" (gramma)(Kathab), which are able to make thee wise unto salvation (soteria) (Yashua) through faith which is in Christ Jesus (Iesous) (Yashua).

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy writings, which are able to make thee wise unto Jesus' (rescue) through faith which is in Jesus.

This verse proves Jesus is salvation, the same OT name is used in the NT ! Notice what Jesus writes:-

Jos 24:26 And Joshua (Yashua in figure) wrote these words in the book of the law (torah) "teachings" of God,

Why does Jesus as Joshua write the writings in the teachings of Elohiym ? Because "law" does not mean "law", it means "Teachings" And Jesus in the NT was called Rabbi which means "Teacher".

So my friend, this is a small glimpse to show the OT teachings of Jesus was the former rain, and the NT teachings of Jesus are His latter rain, and as gardens of Jesus and trees of His forest, we must grow in both. Shalom

    (5) Humanism is better than Jesus

Jesus pointed out the power of false teaching to destroy the appreciation and desire for truth. "No man,"He said, "having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better." All the truththat has been given to the world through patriarchs and prophets shone out in new beauty in the wordsof Christ. But the scribes and Pharisees had no desire for the precious new wine. Until emptied of theold traditions, customs, and practices, they had no place in mind or heart for the teachings of Christ. They clung to the dead forms, and turned away from the living truth and the power of God.

It was this that proved the ruin of the Jews, and it will prove the ruin of many souls in our own day.Thousands are making the same mistake as did the Pharisees whom Christ reproved at Matthew's feast.Rather than give up some cherished idea, or discard some idol of opinion, many refuse the truth whichcomes down from the Father of light.

So many church theories of faith cling to man made injunctions of Scriptures, such as the Holy Spirit is a "He" based on nothing but human translators into English, rather than follow Scripture in the original Hebrew. They declare the old is better than the new. They will not read Scripure words correctly while clinging unto their old traditions of reading English words of translators, with translator customs and practices.

See the Personality of the Holy Spirit.

    (6) Jesus is NOT for sale

A legal religion can never lead souls to Christ; for it is a loveless, Christless religion. Fasting or prayerthat is actuated by a self-justifying spirit is an abomination in the sight of God. The solemn assemblyfor worship, the round of religious ceremonies, the external humiliation, the imposing sacrifice, proclaim that the doer of these things regards himself as righteous, and as entitled to heaven; but it is alla deception. Our own works can never purchase salvation.

The SOP says our own works can never purchase salvation.Notice how the SOP writes this sentence. Jesus is salvation. He is named this Hebrew word "Yashua". He was named the Hebrew verb "Yasha" because Jesus "saves" humans from missing.Missing what? Missing the true relationship with GOD. Not the broken relationship we currently have that daily dying dies. This is what sin or missing is about. And a Persons relationship is not for sale. A relationship is the mystery thing of love, when two Beings come together in faith, trust and obedience and do and walk and talk together in marriage.

Mr 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

  • 1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
  • Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mysteryof his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
  • Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ
  • Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
  • 1Ti 3:9 Holding the mysteryof the faith in a pure conscience.
  • 1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Fascinating hey? The Greek word "mystery" 2466 is translated from the Hebrew word "secret" 7328.

Da 2:47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

Notice how in the latter rain of Jesus in the NT some Hebrew words are used more often...Another such word is "faith"...

Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

There is a fascinating word in the NT, the fellowship of the mystery...

In Hebrew we have "fellowship" as a word...

There is the object lesson "rope" used to bind. (Strong's 2254, 2255) and the completed bind (Strong's 2256, 2257)

There is the idea to "clamp" as in a "companion" when pieces of rope "clamp together" in "fellowship" (Strong's 2266) and the noun form "company" (Strong's 2267)

Let's have a quick read of this idea of fellowship in the Former Rain of Jesus Teachings:-

Ps 7:14 Behold, he travaileth(chabal) "bind " with iniquity (aven) "propensities", and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

This is powerful confirmation the Holy Writings are inspired and our reading of it correct:-

Here is a picture of biological rope called in Science "DNA"...but it is used in this verse talking about our genes (aven) causing propensities...

And on this "rope" are "habits" that can be "born" when our parents cause "sinning affects" to be inherited to our children...

Who would have thought "rope" is the object lesson for "fellowship" to "bind" two couples together in a company of love...just how the DNA does in every cell...

There is the DNA "epi-genitics" and the DNA "genes". And both of these are controlled carefully, as "DNA rope" is ravelled and unravelled, when we are born. That is exactly what that verse says:

Ps 7:14 Behold, he is "bind " with epi-genetics of "propensities", and hath conceived mischief, and born falsehood.

For more, see a study of "epi-genetics".

Facinating how SOP also told stories of the green cord of faith, the rope of fellowship as an object lesson as well.

Zec 11:14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

Here the LORD Jesus has to unravel the rope of union between groups of His church in the OT, and bind up new groups of people in the latter rains of the NT.

Ps 122:2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

  • 3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact(chabar) "joined or coupled" together:

What a lovely picture we have of the new city of heaven, when we come as the saved, strands of rope to be coupled together as one rope of unity. See how clear the Hebrew pictures are when we see the pictures better (without fuzzy human translations).

Ec 9:4 For to him that is joined (chabar) "joined or coupled" to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

Notice the picture here of the relationship we have with GOD, that causes us to be living energy... we are coupled with the Father's power via the Holy Spirit as the "breath of life" like a rope, coupled together, we become "living energy"

Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (nephesh) "energy".

Why the Author chooses "energy" for "nephesh" is because the noun means complete, an the verb an action still incomplete...thus the same Hebrew words with same spelling have the same meanings, just slight differences in the action being completed.

Ex 23:12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed (nephesh) "energized".

Here is the verb sense, means the same as the noun, so the English word is "energize" and the noun form "energy"...get the idea? Imaging hey? That Elohiym who is energy too, makes us into a "shape of living energy", this is what "nephesh" or "soul" means, "solid shapes of living energy". Changes the meanings somewhat with human translators doesn't it...but this is correct reading of the Hebrew.

Ge 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested (shabath) "ceased" on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Here is another example..the Hebrew verb word "shabath" means to "Cease" and the Hebrew noun word "shabath" means "Ceasing Day"...the English word has to used for both meaning with this change of action in mind. A tough translators challenge, but that is correct Hebrew understanding, with Hebrew words of the same spelling.

Ps 58:5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers (chabar) charming(chabar) never so wisely.

Here is another example..with the theme of "rope" that "binds" or "couples" couples together as a "coupling".

Ps 58:5 Which will not hearken to the voice of coupled couplings never so wisely.

As a translator of Hebrew, there are difficult tasks to make faithful the Hebrew to the reader, so that reader knows the Hebrew is true, not just another human translator with humanism. So not always will verses sound good for our English ears...but I would rather hear the Hebrew...not humanism...

Beware of those who couple together words as a coupling, seemingly to sound wise...is what this verse is saying...

    (7) When blessings become a curse..

As it was in the days of Christ, so it is now; the Pharisees do not know their spiritual destitution. Tothem comes the message, "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need ofnothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Icounsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thoumayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear." Rev. 3:17, 18. Faith and loveare the gold tried in the fire. But with many the gold has become dim, and the rich treasure has beenlost. The righteousness of Christ is to them as a robe unworn, a fountain untouched. To them it is said,"I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whencethou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and willremove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent." Rev. 2:4, 5.

Ho 13:6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

Here is the curse of Jesus in the Book of Jesus. When we are filled with Jesus we are happy and content, but then we rise in pride and forget Jesus.

Plants growing in a world of missing do the same thing...when supplied with too much nitrogen, the plants grow well and make leaves of righteousness, but fail to make fruit. Strangely enough plants make fruit only affter following tribulation or trials of heat or cold or lack of water, object lessons when GOD leaves us for a while...

We pray more when life is going bad...don't we ? We forget Jesus when life is content...we must alway remember the relationship of the "rope binding us together with Jesus" do not allow it to be unravelled...

    (8) Only new bottles can have new wine.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise."Ps. 51:17. Man must be emptied of self before he can be, in the fullest sense, a believer in Jesus. Whenself is renounced, then the Lord can make man a new creature. New bottles can contain the new wine.

We are used to old wine tasting better, it ages...but only a babe drinking a fresh daily dose of Jesus every day are we actually saved...we must remove ourselves as Master, and allow Jesus as Master and Lord of our lives.

For more, see a study of the Hebrew word "master"
