Q15: 22. Imprisonment and Death of John..

Show the Desire of Ages is inspired..

(1) prophets for GOD bringing: messages..

Thus the day wore away, the disciples of John seeing and hearing all. At last Jesus called them to Him,and bade them go and tell John what they had witnessed, adding, "Blessed is he, whosoever shall findnone occasion of stumbling in Me." Luke 7:23, R. V. The evidence of His divinity was seen in itsadaptation to the needs of suffering humanity. His glory was shown in His condescension to our lowestate. The disciples bore the message, and it was enough. John recalled the prophecy concerning the Messiah,"The Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up thebrokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." Isa. 61:1, 2."But what," said Jesus, "went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than aprophet. For this is he, of whom it is written,--"Behold, I send My messenger before Thy face,Which shall prepare Thy way before Thee."Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John theBaptist." In the announcement to Zacharias before the birth of John, the angel had declared, "He shallbe great in the sight of the Lord." Luke 1:15. In the estimation of Heaven, what is it that constitutesgreatness? Not that which the world accounts greatness; not wealth, or rank, or noble descent, orintellectual gifts, in themselves considered. If intellectual greatness, apart from any higherconsideration, is worthy of honor, then our homage is due to Satan, whose intellectual power no manhas ever equaled. But when perverted to self-serving, the greater the gift, the greater curse it becomes. It is moral worth that God values. Love and purity are the attributes He prizes most. John was great inthe sight of the Lord, when, before the messengers from the Sanhedrin, before the people, and beforehis own disciples, he refrained from seeking honor for himself, but pointed all to Jesus as the PromisedOne. His unselfish joy in the ministry of Christ presents the highest type of nobility ever revealed inman.

The prophet John was the connecting link between the two dispensations. As God's representative hestood forth to show the relation of the law and the prophets to the Christian dispensation. He was thelesser light, which was to be followed by a greater. The mind of John was illuminated by the HolySpirit, that he might shed light upon his people; but no other light ever has shone or ever will shine soclearly upon fallen man as that which emanated from the teaching and example of Jesus. Christ and Hismission had been but dimly understood as typified in the shadowy sacrifices. Even John had not fullycomprehended the future, immortal life through the Saviour.

The prophet EGW was the connecting link between the two dispensations. As God's representative shestood forth to show the relation of the law and the prophets to the Christian dispensation for the end of time.

She was the lesser light, which was to be followed by a greater. The mind of EGW was illuminated by the Holy Spirit, that she might shed light upon the people; but no other light ever has shone or ever will shine soclearly upon fallen man as that which emanated from the teaching and example of Jesus. Christ and Hismission had been but dimly understood as typified in the shadowy sacrifices and living testimonies of Scripture.

Where does Scripture say there will be more future messages from GOD outside the teachings of Jesus in the NT?

In the OT, did not Jesus speak to Moses and other prophets His messages for His pe ople?

In the NT, did not Jesus speak personally to His people His messages as more teachings, especially as the latter rain.

Will not more latter rains of Jesus come to His people in to the future?

Da 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary (qodesh) "holy" be cleansed (tsadaq) "straightened".

This prophecy speaks will into the future, past the NT times, of 1844, about Jesus making the holy straight. And gradually through the work of many reformers after the dark ages of Jesus, did He make the holy things of Himself straight.

For example the Bible translation of Martin Luther in to German is the best translation process of how holy words should be made straight.

The prophetic messages of Jesus through Ellen White also come after 1844, when the final work of Jesus would soon come to and end...He would begin to judge the earth and investigate those who are His own.

Today we are fortunate to have a Hebrew to English translator, Ellen White, to show us the correct Hebrew in our Scriptures as written in English. And as we study the words in the SOP, we also must deal with fuzzy translations...or other English words other translators used...A child like faith is not confused if you line up line upon line and study the SOP carefully investigating all the passages written on a particular theme...than the truth comes out clearly...This is the same way we read Scripture...to avoid the fuzzy words of translators as well...to avoid as popular scholars tell us, words have different meanings depending upon their context... if that were so, nobody could read any words with certainity...words have a single basic meaning regardless of context...even polysemous words have a consistent meaning in the context they appear...no words in a language change just because of different sentences around them...how are so many people deceived into a liar?

The Spirit of Prophecy is a wonderful Hebrew to English translator ...

It gives us true confidence we have the true Hebrew words and meanings...

God bless the readers of Ellen White writings, where we can read our Bibles in child like faith in it's original language in Hebrew. Shalom
