Overcoming bitterness.

10. What is 'bitterness' ?

A soil with too much food, such as fertilizer or too much salt, can be normalized by adding water, or making places where water soaks in. A soil with too much stone can be ground to soil by Scripture study. A soil with too little nutrients can be normalized with addition of Seed Promises that germinate new nutrients into the soil. Surprisingly trees make food and obtain food deep within rock, which smaller plants such as grasses alone cannot. A community of friends is the best design for living.

But a sour or bitter soil, is near impossible to fix. What causes this problem is the wrong attitude towards water. The Holy Spirit is an agency for the flow of heavenly water, that contains two entities of balance, providers and receivers. Science calls this cations and anions. Or acids and bases. We should not be surprised if there are two Hebrew words for love, than the heavenly power of love as a simile of water, should come in two natural forms as well. Sometimes when people we have a functioanl relationship with do dysfunctional things with us, we develop a wrong mix or a wrong attitude to an ongoing relationship, we become sour and bitter.

Sure initially the problem started with someone showing a dysfunctional relationship, but the love response of our own home soul changes and becomes stuck, our love is no longer one that provides and receives.. we develop a dysfunctional condition on our own..the relationships to even those around us break down.. The affected person is withdrawn, and refuses to love again with other human relationships.

This is why we see "dysfunctional spirit" in Scripture, the person has become distorted in their own thinking, and becomes bitter, causing them to have an "evil spirit", which really means the Holy Spirit has to empower their choice, but is not the cause of the dysfunctional mixture, the human mind has chosen to be in.

  • 1Sa 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
  • Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.(KJV)

GOD is able to empower your choice, whether more of God's power that is more functional, or less of God's power that becomes less functional. Consider the extremely fined tuned our universe is, to allow these changes and yet, humans and Mother Nature still exist more or less functionally well, despite the world of decay, disorder and evolutionary running downhill. Praise GOD for allowing and controlling all these extremes of choice.

So there can be a wrong mix of the Holy Spirit water, that causes one to become sour and bitter. This is caused by our perception of love, especially when demonstrated by others. Such examples of love is really abusive, painful, violent and deadly. These examples do permanent scaring or death to the mind of the soul causing them to dwell upon dysfunctional models of love.

If your concept of love is twisted, distorted and abused by others who show you poor examples of love, you tend to see evil imbalance and this greatly impacts your soul, until you see love only as distorted concept. And this thinking remains with you throughout your living, especially if one generates our own home authority from our abused flesh.

Many of us grow up as Christians in dysfunctional examples of love in our parents home, so we continue this thinking into our own Chrisitan home, so the cycle of distorted love continues, making some bitter and frustrated with others along the way. Dysfunctional so called christians make the worst dictators in the home, often showing violence and sweetness as a two faced personality.

  • Ex 15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

The Christian Israelites had just been saved but within days were already forgetting about Jesus, having been recently baptised under the Red Sea. Is this a familar experience to us all? So we run into bitter water, and we cry out to GOD in prayer. GOD tells them to cut down a tree and cast it into the water. Indeed the LORD of TREES does make the bitter water sweet. How? He forgives us...and we have to learn this forgiveness as well. The TREE was cut down and thrown into the bitter water, is a really into poetry picture.

Jesus is the LORD of trees, was cut down into death, and thrown into bitter nations so we can become sweet again, if we will. What a loving LORD of trees we serve. Shalom

  • Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

If husbands sow maleness-love towards their wife, and it becomes bitter, then the husband's love is not true love at all. True love comes from GOD, false love comes from our fallen flesh, the "human self love" that causes us to embitter our wives. We need to recognize our fallen flesh and the human powers we show as "false love", when it is really not love at all, just a "home authority" that means nothing to God. Sadly our "home authority" tends to make our relationships around us bitter.

  • Jas 3:14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
  • 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

James says our flesh this is fallen, under the domain of Satan, this is why we show "human powers of self love" a dysfunctional relationship that causes others to embitter us, we are empowered by the earthly sensual devilish powers within our selves. This wisdom and power does not come from GOD. True love, and true wisdom, comes from the Holy Spirit, who channels heavenly power into us, but only if we will.

This is why we need a daily refreshing of the Holy Spirit, and a walk contineously with GOD... so that GOD subdues our fallen flesh, walks over our earthly minds and controls it...we beome renewed with heavenly love flowing into our minds, that makes us do thing functionally towards others.

One of the common ways to help overcome bitter soils is to give them time alone in peace, and with lots of the Holy Spirit, the person slowly comes to trust again. One must be very patient with these souls and deal gently with them.

O Father of heaven and earth, thank you for the personal revival of the Holy Spirit, that allows Jesus, your Son to empower us daily. We need the cooling of the Holy Spirit, and the quickening powers to change our flesh and make us more like you. Thank you today for a loving experience. Help me to be loved and show your love to others. Amen
