The Sabbath is in Genesis

( 1 ) Ge 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made ; and he rested "shabbath"on the seventh day from all his work which he had made .

.. which he had made and he ceased on the seventh day..

Many New Testament religions scoff that the Sabbath is not mentioned in Genesis. The Hebrew word sabbath(verb) and sabbath(noun) both have similar meanings of to "cease". The verb form means the "cease" has not been completed yet, the noun form means the "cease" is completed. Here we see on the beginning of the seventh day, the "ceasing" was to begin. Hence the reason why it is recorded in this way...The creation story does not say the morning and evening the seventh day ends...only that on the beginning of the seventh day God Sabbaths during the seventh day, because He is almost finished all his creative work...the Sabbath Day is yet to be completed, and this time was set aside as a work of resting for a whole day. This is why the Sabbath(verb) form is used.

( 2 ) Ge 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day , and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested "shabbath"from all his work which God created and made .

.. because that in it he had ceased from all his work ..

( 3 ) Ge 8:22 While the earth remaineth , seedtime and harvest , and cold and heat , and summer and winter , and day and night shall not cease .

shall not cease

( 4 ) Ex 5:5 And Pharaoh said , Behold, the people of the land now are many , and ye make them rest "shabbath"from their burdens .

.. are many and ye make them cease from their burdens ..

( 5 ) Ex 12:15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread ; even the first day ye shall put away "shabbath"leaven out of your houses : for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day , that soul shall be cut off from Israel .

.. first day ye shall put cease leaven out of your houses ..

( 6 ) Ex 16:30 So the people rested "shabbath"on the seventh day .

.. ceased on the seventh day .. in other words they rested..

( 7 ) Ex 23:12 Six days thou shalt do thy work , and on the seventh day thou shalt rest : that thine ox and thine ass may rest , and the son of thy handmaid , and the stranger , may be refreshed .

and on the seventh day thou shalt cease.. in other words "Rest"

( 8 ) Ex 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever : for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth , and on the seventh day he rested , and was refreshed .

and on the seventh day he ceased ...(rested) Here is our first major clue to Ceasing Time....God ceased and was refreshed.... Here is our second major clue to Ceasing Time....It is a sign between me and my children ..

The Hebrew word refreshed is interesting. "energize" Strongs 5314, "energy" 5315 The ancient Hebrew pictograph reads "Across the people, the mouth presses." Here we can picture GOD doing mouth to mouth resuscitation to people, the breath of life. Here we see again verb and noun forms of another Strongs decision to split the Hebrew word into two different meanings. One is challenged to think of an English word conveying all the meanings, both incomplete (verb) and complete (noun). For the verb case (used only three times) "energized". For the noun case (used 683 times) "energy". This is one possibility, hence we have

Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living energy.

Job 12:10 In whose hand is the energy of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Ps 42:2 My energy thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

Seems to make sense ? Notice the word "energy" can be personified. So it seems on Ceasing Day GOD ceased from His work, and energized Himself. So for mankind during the six days of work our quantum batteries run low, and on Ceasing Day we recharge our batteries again, and thus refreshed means to be energized. GOD is the source of all quantum energy, to whom we rely for ongoing life.

The Hebrew word sign is interesting. "signing" Strongs 225, "sign" 226 Again the verb and noun forms come from the idea to agree to something (signing) or to make agreement (mark) or (sign). The word "sabbath" has a "mark" symbol in it as well as this Hebrew word, the "Strong secure Mark", as the pictograph reads.

So "Sabbath" is a strong secure mark or agreement between GOD and MAN, that both have signed the signing of special time designed by GOD and for mankind to spend time with GOD on His special Day.

( 9 ) Ex 34:21 Six days thou shalt work , but on the seventh day thou shalt rest : in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest .

but on the seventh day thou shalt cease ..in other words rest

( 10 ) Le 2:13 And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt ; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking "shabbath"from thy meat offering : with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt .

.. of thy God to cease from thy meat offering : ..
