What believers do wrong.

6. What believers do wrong in the Holy Spirit.

Presented are two reasons why people fail in maintaining a personal filling of Jesus via the Holy Spirit.

(2) The seeds fall onto a poor physical covering..

  • Mt 13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
  • 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
  • Mt 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
  • 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

The second commandment of the Father is about our lost covering, and our foolish manmade ways to manufacture the lost covering of salvation.

  • Ex 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to idols , nor serve idols: for the LORD .. is a jealous God

  • Ex 20:5 I supply your physical needs of salvation, not human technology or materialism.

The physical covering for the seed was poor. The soil was stoney (similes of pride), or too shallow (similes of poor Scripture study). While GOD can supply all our physical needs, we often make do with our own fallen flesh, and do not ask for a heavenly covering. We not not mourn for the covering of GOD we have lost due to Adam's sin, and instead get used to our limited abilities, which leads to limited faith, and limited prayer power. We get used to our manmade idols that pacify us with little bits of entertainment that 'save' us... We need to ask for GOD's covering over us, and all that means before Adam sinned, the full communion of GOD with man. The physical condition of our bodies often dictates our faith, when this should not be. All the powers of heaven are available if we just ask in faith. Even a mustard seed of faith grows into the largest of herbs in our garden, O ye of little faith.

Tribulation really does sort us out. If you really want to test whether Jesus is in your life or not, hit your thumb with a hammer during some carpentry, and see what words come from the mouth ! Another name for tribulation is stress, and in today's rat race we get plenty of it. Sadly many are persecuted for their faith with torture, pangs of death and imprisonment. These sorts of tribulations also come upon Jesus disciples.

God does not remove us from tribulations, but gives us the power to remain cool during them. The secret to remaining cool, is to have reserves of the Holy Spirit, stored up before tribulation begins from the night before. In quiet prayerful study of the SEED, are Words of Life sown, by the sower who prays for their germination in the soil of his heart. During the day of tribulation all Christian plants wilt during tribulation, this is not a sign your have a weakness in your Christian walk, but that you are being quickened daily by GOD, that your character is being refined and tested to endure heaven's glory for all eternity. For you see the transpiration process happens simultaneously during the photosynthesis process. In other words the Scripture says it like this:-

  • Ps 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.(KJV)

So do not be alarmed by tribulation, stress or tears...sad yes...but later our saddest moments, our severest trials, become our best moments of joy. Jesus does not cut worthless stone, for ye are worth more than many sparrows.

  • Mt 10:31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Let's look at some of the common problems associated with SEEDS growing in soils under tribulation.

    (a) Lack of soil depth

When soil is shallow the water stored in the soil is less, so there is less water of the Holy Spirit available for Jesus and you, growing in spiritual revival.

Just a little explanation about Scripture powers and poetry.

You are the Gardener, a simile of the Father in heaven.

You are also the soil, a simile of your fallen flesh, that receives the SEED (Jesus).

When Jesus germinates a part of His power in you (the Seed), you become a partaker of that little power of Christ in you, and you co-operate with His power, in your mind, to do righteous acts with His power.

Here the Jesus SEED is chosen by you from the WORD, specifically as you need a Seed Promise of His power.

While you can direct your garden, you cannot direct the daily steps that each Seed Promise promises in your life.

Once the seed is sown in the heart, it requires three things to make it germinate.

  • Prayer is the air, a gift of the Holy Spirit
  • Water is the life, a gift of the Holy Spirit
  • Warmth is the energy, a gift of the Holy Spirit

Notice the SEED germnates all by itself, without help from you, you need only Take the Seed, and sow it in your heart. Seeds will germinate in any soil condition, so even a wicked person can pray for Jesus in their wicked life, and immediately Jesus will grow in that person. But getting started is not the same as contineously growing. Some call this step justification, but really it is a fancy term for the germination of Jesus in your heart.

Once Jesus starts in your life, you the steward of His righteousness need to take stewardship of this righteousness in a humble meek manner.

This process of Jesus walking beside you, Jesus carrying you, Jesus allowing you some control of His power, is a growing process, where the goal is to allow His power to perform righteousness in your life through your mind, that allows His powers to work in your life. Some scholars label this process 'sanctification', but this is really just a fancy term for the young Christian seedling that is 'growing in Christ'. You cannot boast you do something good and righteous...no, Jesus does this with your co-operation. You see, you need to understand love is not a human power one can do alone in one's own human strength. Love is a power from GOD that flows through your mind, into your hands, so that in co-operation with heavenly powers we do the will of the Father in heaven. There is never a time where any Being can claim to work powers alone. Not even Elohiym can claim that...yet Lucifer thought He could empower Himself alone...love does not work like this... love is always relational and the power must flow from one Being to another. Love is the action and reaction of this process between two Beings, whether they be all within the Godhead, or between the Godhead and mankind...love is a complex relationship of man reaching out to God.

God does not give you His power to do good on your own...An example of this kind of legalism is when Daddy places his little son on his knee and allows his son to steer a car, while Daddy sits under his son as a backup if things go wrong. No, a better object lesson is like the mother ant in her colony, supplies all the children, who are servants to her world of living, and yet while each individual worker ant is free to move about and do things, their life is totally dependent upon the mother queen ant, who is in turn totally dependent upon them as well.

  • Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness,
  • Pr 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

This process where you co-operate with Jesus' power sown in your life, is the work of 'growing in Jesus': the process how Jesus renews your fallen character daily into His; ready for His Father, so that you will live in heaven forever and not perish; is called a mysterious work of the Holy Spirit, known as quickening. And this process is the real need of the Revival of the Holy Spirit. The former rain is the germination of Jesus in your heart. The latter rain is the finishing touches of the Holy Spirit growing in your heart, so that your fruits are complete.

The main obstacle for Israel of OT times, is they thought they could work faithfulness and righteousness in their own power, or perhaps Israel was claiming YHWH's power as their own. This is known as legalism today. One cannot own the quickening process of the Father who empowers His Son via the agency of the Holy Spirit. It is a mystery that belongs to GOD. And yet this mystery also belongs to us... not that any should boast, it is the gift of GOD through His grace.

  • Next time as a gardener you say to your neighbour :

"Come and see my garden of flowers I have grown ".

Beware of using 'I am'. You are only a steward of God's power. While God empowers you to change your character, your character becomes like God, but you cannot say your character is yours alone.

"Come and see the lovely garden of flowers God has grown ".

    (b) Lack of soil water

Another common problem for a lack of Holy Spirit, is the water dries up...but the Holy Spirit is a symbol of water, so how does the soil dry out? Some gardeners will tell you the act of ploughing too much, dries out the soil. Some say the soil is too sandy and allows water to drain away. Some say the soil is too clayey and prevents water from entering if the rains fall too quickly, the water runs away rather than soaking in. Some of us use artifically stored water, which is never as good as heavenly water from the Holy Spirit. The rains GOD sends is always far superior to other sources of water.

These are all physical reasons for a lack of water in your life. These factors are caused by too much Scripture reading, or the wrong reason for studying Scripture, or the wrong motivation for studying Scripture. You cannot successfully read Scripture unless you pray for the Holy Spirit to teach you.

  • Isa 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

This is a Seed Promise to overcome drought. The Holy Spirit is a symbol of the river of life, not just any body of water.

  • Ho 13:5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

A drought is useful because it tells you where your source of water is coming from, 'self' or 'the Holy Spirit' ?

  • Jer 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Running out of Holy Spirit water is a serious thing, so notice these two evils...forgetting to pray for Holy Spirit water, and estabishing our own cisterns...that are broken sources of human water.

Sadly farmers only pray for rain when the land is parched for water. Christian prayers are like this too. We forget GOD when our lives are filled...

  • Ho 13:5 I did know (yada) thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

So being filled by Holy Spirit can become a curse for us, if we do not use this power properly...we rise in pride and forget GOD..

Notice the cure for this problem:-

  • Mt 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

So we are filled when we are empty and when we are hungry for more water and more food. How we get hungry and thirsty is to give away the fruits of the Holy Spirit made in us. That is why sharing and witnessing come in, not as someting we must do, but because love is a relational thing. Love requirers providers and receivers.

    (c) Tribulation process

The act of tribulation as a process, when you are cooled by the Holy Spirit, while under stresses for GOD, you can run out of water and wilt under the process of tribulation and become depressed. This is a normal cycle of meeting God on a daily basis. Tribulation has two sides under the leaves of the tree, one side faces the tribulation, while the underside creates shade. Shade can be a useful byproduct of the quickening process, and many friends of the forest enjoy the shade.

  • Ho 14:6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree..
  • 7 They that dwell under his shadow shall return..

Being under Jesus wings is also a simile of being under His shade. Sins are also similes of the records of ones travelling under tribulation, the shades of sin, one makes from our growing in our life. There is much one could say about tribulation, shade and sinning that is not unto death.

    (3) The seeds fall into competition..

  • Mt 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
  • Mt 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

This problem of Revival in the Holy Spirit, is about prayer power. When the seedling grows daily, the plant can be dragged down by competitive demands of another plant, known as weeds. These are similes of agencies Satan sows along with Jesus SEED's to slow down and make Jesus power less effective in the believer's life.

Satan cannot stop the garden plant from praying, but He can slow down the growth and power of growing by competition from weeds. Thus your 'praying power' becomes less effective. This is what the third commandment of the Father is all about : prayer power.

  • Ex 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;

  • Ex 20:7 Do not use the power of the LORD thy God in prayer, presumptously..

Praying power is in vain when we do not lay hold of the power of Jesus character properly in a humble meek manner. The main ways we fail in our 'prayer powers' is because we have too many competitors draining away our powers...The Law of limiting factors states our growth is as effective as the biggest problem and will not improve until the worst limiting factor is fixed first. So lots of Scripture study combined with little prayer power does not make a Christian grow better. Neither does little Scripture study combined with lots of prayer power, do much in one's life. There has to be the right combination of study, prayer and share, for one to be effectual in God's work.

Weeds come in many shapes and sizes. Actually any plant that robs you of your energy, is technically a weed. Weeds do not destroy quickly, they grow where you grow, and slowly starve your power...robbing you of less fruits of the Holy Spirit. Some really common effective weeds are sugar-cane sugar, sodium-salt, manufactured fat, carbon dioxide water, caffeine, alcohol, and other recreational or mental drugs. Other weeds drain your brain waves, such as porn, rock music and parties that waste your time. Vaccines do permanent brain damage to us all, and even death to many babies. TV and facebook can be great energy robbing devices, if overused. Love as a relational action and reaction slows down when these weeds grow while your tryiing to grow in Jesus, via the personal Revival of the Holy Spirit.

  • 1Jo 2:16 For all that is in the world,
  • (1) the lust of the flesh,
  • (2) and the lust of the eyes,
  • (3) and the pride of life,
  • is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Weeds come from Satan's world. He inspires creations of technology to rule over mankind. The biggest demands of a Christian growing in Jesus, is the cycles of time. So anything that drains away our time for Jesus, is potentially a weed. Sure some plants grow faster to fruit in less time than others, but not all Seed Promises are like this. Some Seed promises need years to bear fruit. So it is important you make daily cycles of time for Jesus.

This was a simple child like presentation so far on some of the common pitfalls why we fail to maintain a spiritual revival with the Holy Spirit. So far we have journeyed through the first three of the Father's Ten Commandments. The fourth commandment is the climax of them all, why sharing heaven's power with others is important for us, not necessarily as important for others.

  • Pr 11:25 ... he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

  • Pr 11:25 ... he that refreshes others shall be refreshed himself.

On the next web page, we will investigate the final factor in what believers do wrong in Revival of the Holy Spirit.
