Q10: What is a consistent translation ?

A consistent translation of the entire Bible from Hebrew into English requires the same English word used in the place of the Hebrew word. The English word must have the closest structure, meaning and qualities as the Hebrew word capturing the Hebrew culture as much as possible. Thus all verses that use a Hebrew word are substituted by a similar English word, used consistently all the time, like the Hebrew word does. This gives a pure translation unaffected by human bias, without changing the Hebrew culture.

For example, the Hebrew word "chata" and "chataah" are similar words. "Chata" means to miss the mark. "Chataah" is a sin of transference. Here are some possible solutions : -

chata chataah
sin sin-offering
err error

Notice the choices have to retain the Hebrew letters and additions, capture the meanings and retain as much culture as possible. And apply consistent meaning to all verses that use the Hebrew word, regardless of context. A translator's challenge ! God bless us our child salvation. Shalom
